The Role 

As our Fundraising Manager, you will take on a key role, creating the income we need to undertake our vital work supporting disabled people. 

We are looking to further develop and diversify our income streams beyond Trusts and foundation and focus on increasing donations from individuals with an interest in our cause. 

Growing our individual supporter base, you will recruit new supporters and build on the excellent foundations laid by our outgoing Community Fundraiser to raise our profile amongst our neighbours. 

You will provide outstanding relationship management and donor care to supporters, ensuring they are recognised and thanked for their contribution. Additionally, you will develop and deliver fundraising operational plans, helping to create fundraising materials that encourage and support fundraising potential.

About You

To be considered as our Fundraising Manager, you will need: 

• Experience increasing fundraising income from individuals and achieving income targets

The Royal Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (RSTMH) is a Society of over 1,700 members from 100 countries, who work in, or are interested in tropical medicine and global health.

RSTMH organises and participates in events as a crucial way of showcasing, discussing, and debating key areas of tropical medicine and global health research and practice. Our range of events are wide. We deliver conferences and webinars, social events, research meetings for early career professionals, and high-profile debates and discussions. The Meetings and Events Manager would lead on the delivery of the RSTMH meeting and events strategy. The role requires a self-starter who is excited by the prospect of working on such a broad range of meetings and events. The candidate needs to have excellent communication and relationship building skills, and to be organised, flexible with a great attention to detail. They should be comfortable liaising with venues for meetings space, developing budgets for events, managing logistical aspects of the events programme and setting up new events online and in person.

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Event Manager to help coordinate, plan and deliver Peace Direct’s 2025 global peacebuilding gathering to be held in Kenya. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of successfully managing large-scale events from inception to completion. This role requires excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills to ensure the seamless execution of events.

This brand new role is a 14 month contract specifically developed to deliver and roll out the event. Along with two Event Assistants under your direction, you will be responsible for managing and implementing the programme, including handling travel arrangements (100+ bookings), including flights, hotels, and transportation. You will have a solid background evidencing strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to build a smooth rapport with internal and external stakeholders critical to the success of the event. Stakeholders will include local suppliers, peacebuilders, funders and direct engagement with the venue and service providers and key donors.

We are looking for someone with a keen eye for detail to ensure a high professional standard is maintained - even under work pressures - and with budget management experience of large projects (exceeding $250k), ensuring cost-effectiveness and adherence to financial and time constraints.

An opportunity has arisen for a Head of Finance to join the National Leadership team at Urban Saints.As Head of Finance, you will oversee Urban Saints’ financial strategy, and ensure full compliance with legal, financial and governance standards. You will also review and update the finance systems and processes currently in use. Reporting to the CEO, you will provide strategic financial oversight, ensuring the charity operates within agreed financial parameters. The Head of Finance role will have the opportunity to make a significant impact on the financial direction and strategy of the charity.

As a member of the National Leadership team, you will provide strategic leadership and concise insight into the finance function at Urban Saints. You will have extensive experience of strategic financial management, and have experience with ensuring compliance with external regulatory bodies and legal standards. You will have excellent organisational skills and will be able to imagine and embed innovative ways of approaching finance control and reporting, with the ability to update systems and processes in the charity. 

Key responsibilities

• Financial planning and financial strategy

  • Lead on financial planning, including annual budgets, forecasting, and financial reporting processes, to ensure accurate and timely information.

  • Foster organisational coherence in Finance and Operations, developing systems and policies aligned with the Urban Saints values and strategy. 

  • Identify and implement a new strategic approach for the finance systems at Urban Saints, which allows us to coherently work in alignment with charity objects and strategic goals.

  • Provide insights and recommendations to the NLT for informed decision-making.

• Financial control and reporting

  • Oversee financial control systems, policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory reporting requirements.

  • Work with the NLT and the Finance & Audit Subcommittee preparing the necessary updated for review and approval as necessary.

  • Preparing and presenting detailed financial reports to the NLT and the Board of Trustees, offering clear and actionable insights to guide strategic decisions.

  • Report on use, investment and performance of restricted, unrestricted and designated funds. 

  • Work with the Finance Team to design and implement financial reports, including monthly management accounts, KPIs and statutory financial statements.

  • Conduct financial analysis and provide meaningful insights on KPIs to drive charity performance and identify areas for improvement. 

• Operational finance management

  • Oversee the operational finance elements of the charity (internal or outsourced), ensuring timely and accurate processing and that all the necessary statutory filings are being made as they should.

  • Steer and coordinate outsourced functions e.g., payroll, audit firm.

  • Ensure all tax filings are accurate and timely and VAT filings are completed.

  • Ensuring all payroll information is accurate and submitted on time, and that pension contributions are correct.

  • Coordinate and guide on the annual audit to ensure that this is carried out as efficiently and effectively as possible with no issues, with the preparation of the statutory accounts and filing made on a timely basis.

  • Ensure operational finance, accounting and tax and audit compliance to meet all regulatory and legal requirements, managing risk effectively.
