We provide small grants to enable plant collection and field research expeditions; training and working opportunities for overseas botanists and mycologists; and presenting of globally important research at worldwide conferences.
What we are looking for
We are looking for a Finance and Administration Manager to support the board of Trustees. The Trust is particularly looking for a person with good working experience of financial and management accounting within a charity role and excellent administrative experience and skills. The Trust is a grant-making charity and experience within this area would be useful. We are looking for a detail orientated individual with the ability to manage their own work. The role is based at Trust’s office which is housed within the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew. The Trust operates a hybrid working environment with the ability to work remotely part of the time.
Main purpose of Job:
Management of the finance and administration of the Bentham-Moxon Trust (BMT) including:
- The production of timely and accurate management and statutory information;
- management and recording of financial transactions including investments, grants, cash and operating expenses;
- the preparation of the annual report and accounts;
- the production of reports for and minutes of trustee meetings;
- the management of the grants process
Salary - £40,000-£45,000 FTE (pro rata at 0.4), based on experience.
Pension Benefits – The Bentham-Moxon Trust offers a Workplace Pension scheme through NEST, with an employer contribution of 3% of salary and an employee contribution of 5% of salary.
We offer flexible working hours.
Hours – 2 days per week (these will fluctuate with peak time around the annual grant deadline (30 September), which will be compensated for at other times).
Annual Leave – 4 weeks per year plus pro-rated bank holidays
Location - Hybrid. Expected to attend the office (based at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, Richmond, Surrey, TW9 3AE) 2 days a month. The choice of remote working or attending the office is offered for the other days.

The Grants & Services Officer will be the main point of contact for all individuals approaching the charity for support. - Manage an ongoing caseload by diarising and maintaining regular contact with beneficiaries to ensure the charity’s support remains appropriate to their evolving needs.
- Refer beneficiaries to service partners such as counselling, career coaching, or other support services to provide holistic and tailored support.
- Collaborate with colleagues on reviewing, improving, and promoting the Benevolent Fund's services to better meet the needs of our community.

We are looking for an experienced Trust, Grants & Fundraising Executive to take on a pivotal role in this life changing charity.
The Role
As the Trust, Grants & Fundraising Executive you will help grow sustainable income sources to enable the charity to reach its goals over the coming 5 years. Duties will include:
- Maintaining and increasing funding from existing and new grant making trusts.
- Writing applications to existing and new trust funders, capturing the charity’s tone of voice, impact, track record and professionalism.
- Implementing digital strategies, funnels and google ads (training provided for this) to attract, engage with and retain new supporters to our database.
- Attending networking events/presentations to represent the charity, including some church presentations.
The Person
To be considered for this role you should come to us with a demonstrable track record of working on Grant and Trust Fundraising. With excellent written skills, you should have a natural flair for storytelling and the ability to compose compelling written applications for funders.
Trustworthy, flexible and reliable, you should understand the need for confidentiality and have high levels of integrity. We are looking for someone who is self-motivated whilst also being a team player you should be confident using your own initiative.
Perhaps most importantly, you must be a passionate ambassador for the charity who is motivated to raise funds to enable the life transforming work of this incredible charity.

Person Specification:
- Good understanding of health and the charity sectors across the UK
- Understand and support the charity’s aims and objectives
- Understanding of the impact of serious illnesses on children and their families
- Ability to think at a strategic and operational business level including project planning, monitoring and evaluation

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Head of Finance and HR with a charity who promotes music education, on a permanent, part-time (4 days per week) basis. As Head of Finance and HR, you will lead the charity’s finance function and ensure effective strategic and operational financial planning, monitoring and reporting to enhance senior management’s decision making for the organisation.
Please note, there is hybrid working in place with this organisation and you will be required to be in the office 2 days per week.

As Head of Finance and HR, you will:
- Prepare the annual budget and multi-year forecasts in consultation with the Chief Executive and the Hon Treasurer
- Support and develop the organisation’s financial strategy for income generation, efficient operation and future financial security
- Provide regular budget monitoring reports, cash flows, analysis and insight to key stakeholders, such as trustees and senior management, including attending meetings of the trustees
- Oversee a programme of internal and annual external audit, the production and submission of statutory annual accounts to Companies House and the Charity Commission
- Manage the relationship and contract with the charity’s HR consultants
The successful applicant will:
- Have significant demonstrable experience in finance within the charity sector, in a similar role
- Be part or fully qualified (ACA, ACCA, CIMA etc)
- Have experience in working with external auditors and preparing annual accounts
- Have extensive knowledge and experience of financial management and accounting processes
- Have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
