The Royal Scottish Forestry Society, formed in 1854, is an educational charity focussing on promoting the understanding of trees, woods and forestry.
Every year RSFS puts on what we believe to be the most extensive programme of practical forestry events across Scotland. The Society has published a semi-academic journal, Scottish Forestry, since 1858 promoting all aspects of good practice in forestry.
Having agreed a refreshed strategy in 2023, RSFS is now looking to increase its delivery resource. We are looking for someone who shares our passion for Scotland’s trees and forests to develop closer links with members, partners and stakeholders. Your experience in operational delivery will allow us to improve our practices and professionalise our delivery to secure a sustainable future for the RSFS.
Who we are looking for
You will be a personable, dynamic self-starter, used to being the first point of contact within the organisation. As RSFS is a virtual organisation, you must be highly-organised and able to work independently contributing to the overall team outcomes.
The principal functions of the role will be to support the Board in advancing its mission and representing RSFS to members and the community:
- Support our five Regions in planning and delivery of Regional Field Days and the Annual Study Tour;
- Manage the definition, planning and delivery of paid training events;
- Maintain links with members, partners, stakeholders and sector organisations;
- Develop and promote membership of the Society to a broad and relevant constituency;
- Evaluate and implement procedures for RSFS, and as appropriate for Cashel Forest Trust;
- Ensure, in conjunction with our Secretariat, that RSFS remains in compliance with prevailing laws and regulations; and
- Other duties as required by the role.
Outline terms and conditions
- The role is for 21 hours per week;
- A full-time equivalent salary of £45,000 to £55,000, pro rated for the contracted hours, to be agreed depending on experience;
- 28 days paid holiday pro rated for the contracted hours;

Family Support Worker

About the role:
We are is looking to appoint a Family Support Worker to deliver a high-quality family support service as part of our London and South East Care Team.
Reporting to the Family Support Manager out of our London and South East team base and working in partnership with health, education and social care professionals, you will take responsibility for providing needs-led emotional, social and practical support to families where a child/young person has a life threatening or terminal illness.
Having worked in a stressful and emotional environment you will have a genuine interest in building supportive relationships and helping people; and having provided bereavement support to families, you understand processes of grief, loss, and change - and how best to help others deal with its impact.
What we’re looking for:
· An experienced child health, education or social care professional - applications will be particularly welcome from those who have worked in a community environment and those with a recognised qualification in education, health or social care.

A fantastic charity providing services to unpaid carers are looking for a Service Manager, based in Surrey.
Location: Leatherhead in Surrey, with some working from home and within the community across Surrey
Salary: Circa £28,000
As Service Manager, you will take the lead in the management of the charity’s care workers.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing professional leadership and guidance to CSWs / CSAs through supervisions and observations, and staff meetings.
- Ensuring maximised usage of resource hours by concise completion of rostering for sector.
- Take the lead in the recruitment and interviewing of CSWs/CSAs for allocated sector.
- Being the first port of call for any safeguarding concerns in designated sector and ensure that fact finding process is followed correctly and reports are clear and concise.
- Completing 70% reviews of service provision and ascertain whether a referral to Surrey County Council is required.
- Submitting clear reports with regards to sector performance to Senior Service Manager each week.
- Ensuring all administrative responsibilities of the Service Manager role are carried out promptly and concisely.
The successful candidate will have a Care Certificate and knowledge of CQC regulations and Health Care Act and an ideally an NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care. Previous line management experience, ideally in a care setting, including rostering and completing observations and supervisions is key, as is a good level of IT literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Office software (Word/Excel) and the ability to learn to use other digital platforms and software. Crucially you must have the ability to demonstrate dignity and respect for adults and children with care and support needs, and have a thorough understanding of the needs of unpaid carers.

I am excited to be working with a fantastic young person’s charity in search of an Interim Financial Controller. This is a part-time (2 – 3 days per week), remote role for 2 – 3 months. As Financial Controller you will be responsible for the day-to-day Financial and Operational Management of the organisation.
Main duties:
Ensure accurate records are maintained, filings made, and taxes paid as required by HMRC (payroll, corporation tax, and VAT), pension agencies, Companies House, and the Charity Commission.
Manage the charity’s cash portfolio, ensuring maximisation of returns
Manage and report on all external funds received, ensuring accurate restricted fund accounts that comply with funder reporting requirements
Update the CEO and Finance Committee re material developments regularly and as needed
Prepare monthly and annual management accounts, including income and expenditure, balance sheet, cash flows, performance indicators, and notes for Finance Committee and Trustee Board meetings
Lead the budgeting and forecasting process and provide variance analysis and reporting for decision-making to the CEO, Senior Leadership Team, and Board
Accountable to the Finance Committee of the Board for all finance, risk, and audit matters, collaborating closely with the CEO and Board to ensure robust governance
Lead the Finance Committee and present finance updates to the Board
