Main purpose of this role 

This role will enhance FareShare’s internal communications and strengthen connections across FareShare internal network, ensuring consistent, effective communication with network partners. The successful candidate will be essential in developing and implementing communication strategies that engage and inform internal and external stakeholders.

About FareShare 

FareShare is the UK’s national network of charitable food redistributors, comprising 18 independent organisations. Together, we take good-quality surplus food from across the food industry and distribute it to 8,500 frontline charities and community groups.

The food we redistribute is nutritious and good to eat. It reaches charities across the UK, including school breakfast clubs, older people’s lunch clubs, homeless shelters, and community cafes. We provide enough food weekly to create almost a million meals for vulnerable people. 

Every year, more than three million tonnes of food go to waste in the UK, enough for 7 billion meals. Meanwhile, the cost of living crisis is driving millions into food insecurity.

The role  

This role is vital in strengthening FareShare’s ability to promote its work across the internal network and ensure staff are engaged in the work of FareShare, understand its impact and can consistently communicate its activity.

Working across the charity, the successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing internal communication strategies that align with FareShare’s mission and values. This activity includes engaging with network partners to ensure clear, consistent messaging and support the marcomms team’s work in brand awareness and communication effectiveness across FareShare.

Key Responsibilities 

Internal Communications Strategy:

Collaborate with the Head of Communications, Marketing and Public Affairs and the senior team to develop and implement effective internal communication strategies, including a schedule of activities for the year.

Design and manage internal communication channels and content, ensuring they resonate with employees and align with FareShare’s values and objectives.

Drive employee engagement through innovative and compelling storytelling.

Measure and analyse the effectiveness of internal communication initiatives, continually seeking improvement.

Support change management processes by providing clear, concise, and timely communication.

Employee Engagement and Advocacy:

Foster a culture of open communication and feedback across the organisation, creating platforms for staff to share ideas, concerns, and successes.

Organise and lead internal campaigns and initiatives to create a sense of community within FareShare.

Recognise and celebrate staff achievements and milestones through internal communications.

Network Partner Engagement:

Act as a liaison between FareShare and its network partners, ensuring consistent and effective communication.

Develop and distribute communications materials that keep network partners informed and engaged.

Internal Brand & Messaging Management:

Work with the marcomms team to ensure FareShare brand use internally and across the network is correct and aligned with FareShare messaging. Ensure brand consistency across all internal communication channels and materials.

Event Support:

Assist in the planning and delivery of internal, such as fundraisers, conferences, and awareness activities with key stakeholders. Ensure the smooth execution of events and maximise engagement opportunities.

Stakeholder Engagement:

Collaborate with internal teams to communicate the impact of FareShare’s work and engage stakeholders. Assist with identifying stories and testimonials to highlight FareShare’s achievements. 

Person specification 

About you

Experience 

• Extensive experience in internal communications, preferably in the not-for-profit or food sectors.
• Demonstrable experience in developing and implementing internal communications strategies that drive engagement.
• Experience managing internal communication channels, including intranets, newsletters, and internal social media.
• Proven experience in change management and supporting organisational change through effective communication.
• Strong experience in stakeholder management and the ability to influence and engage at all levels of the organisation.
• Experience working with network partners or multiple locations to ensure consistent communication. 

Skills, knowledge and abilities 

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including copywriting and proofreading.
• Strong project management and organisational skills to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, meet deadlines, and manage priorities.
• Creative flair and a natural storyteller, able to articulate complex ideas in an engaging and accessible manner.
• Ability to measure and analyse the effectiveness of internal communication initiatives and make data-driven improvements.
• Knowledge of internal communications best practices and tools, including content management systems and intranets.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and experience with graphic design software such as Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, and Canva (desirable but not essential).
• A self-starter with the proven ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Knowledge of the not-for-profit sector and, ideally, the charitable/sustainability sector (desirable but not essential).

We are looking for an accomplished Individual Giving and Legacy fundraiser to help develop, implement and lead our approach to growing unrestricted, long-term income in these areas.

You will work with the Senior Head of Individual Supporters and Events to design both the long-term strategy and short-term campaign plans for these fundraising streams, before taking ownership for implementing the plans on an ongoing basis so that we can inspire more people to support our work with young people.

You will lead a team of fundraisers to achieve the best possible results with existing and potential supporters – both in income and stewardship so we can start to realise the opportunity for growth in mass fundraising. This will include supporting your team in their work with other functions such as Supporter Care, Data, Finance, and our external Legacy administration agency, so that you can help ensure high quality data collection, analysis and performance reporting as well as compliance with relevant codes of fundraising practice.

We are particularly interested in people with excellent Legacy experience to fill this role so if you have a strong track record in managing Legacy programmes, including designing and implementing stewardship activities as well as proven experience in Individual Giving then we’d love to have you in our team to deliver campaigns which inspire people to become long-term supporters of The Trust.

Magic Club inspires young people to dream big, helps them to develop strong foundations and supports them to reach their fullest potential.

The Magic Club (CIO) is a charity in Claremont, Blackpool, working with young people aged 7-16 to support them to thrive; increasing skills, accessing new opportunities, developing relationships and having loads of fun. We currently deliver youth club sessions four evenings each week in term time from our own venue, offering a diverse and high quality range of activities and project work. We also deliver detached youth work, Duke of Edinburgh and Arts Award programmes, AQAs, trips, residentials, holiday programmes, 1-2-1 and small group work, projects and youth volunteering, all served up with really tasty food. Alongside this we work with our parents and carers, wider community and partners to ensure we do whatever we can to support young people to thrive.

Opening in March 2018, we have seen a huge impact for young people in our community. With increased confidence, social skills and aspiration as well as improved relationships and routes to further education and work; we are making a lasting difference.

We are recruiting for a Senior Youth (Support) Worker to join our small, friendly team. We are looking for a highly motivated and skilled colleague, with the vision, knowledge and commitment to lead on the delivery of our curriculum, projects, club sessions and activities with, and for, the young people of Claremont.

You will support our team of youth support workers, volunteers and Peer Educators, helping them to use their knowledge and experience for the benefit of our members. You will develop relationships and partnerships within the community to develop further support and opportunities for young people. You will also support the evaluation of our work, ensuring we are continually meeting the needs and interests of young people.

We will accept applications from JNC qualified workers or for individuals who are willing to complete a funded Level 6 qualification whilst working with us (the salary bands reflect payments for unqualified and qualified individuals). In either case we would require a Senior Youth Worker with comprehensive experience of working with young people and has experience of supervising teams of staff and volunteers.

We run a range of our own community services to support older people and children, young people, and their families from refugee communities. We campaign for social change. We incubate and support other charities and social businesses to thrive. Each week we work with 30+ charities and community groups supporting more than 1,000 people.

Role Purpose

Provide strategic leadership for KLS’ Refugee Family Programme, ensuring that programme direction and delivery is strategically aligned, responds to learning and changes in context, and maximises our impact in the community.

Key Responsibilities 

• Providing clear and steady leadership and management to all aspects of our newly formed Refugee Family programme, which has grown out of previous separate projects to better meet the holistic needs of people we support.
• Managing and developing the budget and finances; whilst supporting the fundraising lead to secure its financial viability.
• Directly lead the scoping and planning of the Refugee Family Programme Strategy to:
  • Develop and expand existing programmes.
  • Identify opportunities to create, innovate and improve projects within the Refugee Family Programme - such as community outreach workshops, advocacy support, Educational Classes, and Groups, Mentoring and Clubs - to meet the needs of the people we support and those who may need our support in the future.
  • Undertake regular horizon scanning and environmental analysis to ensure KLS has a full understanding of the potential for growth and programme development associated with the current, future and changing demand and need. 
  • Build and maintain effective networks and partnerships that will ultimately support people to realise their potential.
  • Work with the Chief Operating Officer to develop appropriate processes, systems and working practices that create a continuous improvement approach and ensure insights-based impact reporting, evaluation and decision making.
  • Through effective networking and building of positive relationships, act as an ambassador for the organisation to effectively promote and raise awareness of both the organisation and its work.

Main Duties and Responsibilities 

• Provide strategic and operational leadership to your direct reports and overall team to achieve both the organisation’s overall vision and ensure excellence in delivery.

Administration

• Recruit, train, manage and support the team, holding regular supervision sessions, annual appraisals and appropriate training and development.
• Ensure performance management and quality systems are in place to monitor and evaluate the project’s work, processes.
• Follow KLS’ safer recruiting process and ensure safeguarding members is a priority across the team.
• Ensure all member and project records are kept up to date on Salesforce.

• Oversee the team’s use of our database, Salesforce, for managing the programme, ensuring data accuracy and completeness, and working with external consultants to customise and integrate the database with KLS’ website, referral, and evaluation forms.

Safeguarding

• Responsible for embedding safeguarding best practice and ensuring adherence to policies and procedures across the programme team, ensuring that safeguarding is at the forefront of KLS’ delivery.
• Act as the Designated Safeguarding Lead for the Refugee Family Programme Team, working with Safeguarding Officers and Duty Leads to ensure all safeguarding concerns are managed and recorded appropriately and safeguarding cover is maintained across the team in line with KLS’ procedures.

Skills and Experience

• Extensive leadership and management experience, coupled with a track record of leading the strategic development of services for adults and children (of all ages) from the refugee community that improve their access to education and justice, reduce their isolation and improve their ability to navigate their journey.
• Extensive experience of working with people from vulnerable groups, especially children and young people, ensuring that clients’ needs are at the forefront of service planning and delivery.

• Support the Head of Governance and HR in delivering the actions that support preparations for the next Investors in People (IiP) external assessment in late 2024. Ensure the Trust’s HR policies and practices remain consistent with the IiP standard.
• Work proactively with the HR Business Partner on the running of staff recruitment and selection processes, including sitting as the HR representative on the interview panel for more senior roles.

Essential Experience, Skills and Attributes

• Substantial experience of working in HR operations and of developing and reviewing appropriate HR policies and procedures in a charity or similar setting.
• Sound understanding of employment law and a willingness to keep up-to-date with relevant legislative changes.

Do you have experience in successfully managing complex projects, ideally in a not-for -profit environment?  We are seeking an experienced Programme Manager to develop and shape programmes to successfully deliver against the Church of England’s ambitious target to become net-zero by 2030.

This role will be working across both Rochester and Canterbury Diocese and the successful applicant will need to have current working knowledge of environmental and climate issues.

This is a new role which is funded for two years. 

 Key Responsibilities

The post-holder(s) will:

• Oversee the ongoing development and delivery of the Net Zero Carbon (NZC) programmes for both dioceses.
• Maximise the alignment of the plans for each diocese as far as is practical to optimise the benefit of working together in partnership, and actively identify and develop opportunities for partnership working in delivery. Specifically, to develop a NZC action plan for Rochester including managing the adoption of the plan by the appropriate governance committees. (Note: Canterbury already has an approved NZC action plan.)
• Develop, maintain and deliver an implementation plan which highlights the strategic activities, has clear objectives and impact measures; including evaluation.
• Working with other diocesan colleagues, oversee the planning and development of decarbonisation projects to deliver the ambitions and targets in the NZC Action plans.

The Ideal Candidate

You will have a track record of delivering complex multi-stakeholder projects, ideally in a not-for-profit environment with and understanding of environmental and climate issue.  An understanding of how these issues affect the Church of England would be beneficial.
