About us
Who we are
St Christopher’s Community Centre is the new name for the recently combined work of the Family Centre and the Good Neighbours Project at St Christopher’s. Located at the heart of the Holmewood estate, we operate throughout the week with a varied offer of activities and support services for older people, parents with babies and toddlers and youth and children’s work. With an average weekly footfall of over 400 local people and a history stretching back over 30 years, we are a well-respected organisation at the heart of our community.
We are aiming to:
Provide high quality services and activities which promote healthy independent lives for older people, support and community for parents and young families and a journey of growing skills and confidence with children and young people.
Support the development of skills and abilities – social skills, life skills and independence alongside resilience and aspirations
Build community by growing friendships between individuals, engaging with local partners and playing a full role in our community
Offer advice and support where possible, and signpost to other services if they are better placed.
Change our community as we individually and collectively model inclusion and acceptance in and through everything we do.
Our culture and values
Our Values
Compassion to be at the heart of everything we do
Acceptance and inclusion runs through everything
Relationships are the foundation our activities are built on
We are of the community, for the community
SCCC is a space where people are safe to have fun
Equality, diversity and inclusion policy
SCCC is not a faith-based organisation itself, though its history and foundation is closely linked to St Christopher’s Church, and the reality of sharing the Church buildings on a day-to-day basis is that this still impacts and influences our ethos. SCCC is an inclusive employer and welcomes applications from all candidates. We are committed to anti discriminatory practice and there is no requirement for candidates to hold or practice any particular faith. We are based in a church however, so being comfortable in an environment where faith can be a regular topic of conversation would be helpful.
