Sutton Community Works (SCW) is a Christian charity in South London. Our vision is for our faith in action projects to contribute to a safe and flourishing community in Sutton.
Our work focuses on areas including food poverty, young people, rough sleepers and homelessness. In all our work, our ethos is to love God and others in all we do and say, ensuring people feel seen, heard, understood, and helped.
The Community Food Shop enables Sutton residents who are living with food insecurity to have weekly access to healthy and helpful food, with around 110 households visiting each week.
People visiting the shop come from a vast variety of backgrounds but all have faced difficult life experiences. Beyond food, we also want people to access support to improve their situation, so we pay Citizens Advice to come to the shop every week and provide advice on topics such as housing, debt and benefits.
And as a Christian project we underpin everything with prayer and actively offer prayer to our customers too. The community is real at the Food Shop, and the genuine care and compassion that our 40+ volunteers offer keeps people coming back and building trusting relationships with us.
As one customer said: "Thank you to all the volunteers for their love and support. Being able to feed my family with help from the Food Shop has changed my life."
As the Community Food Shop Saturday Supervisor, you can use your people skills, organised nature and attention to detail to help feed people in need and provide a safe and welcoming environment. You will:
- Lead sessions in the shop, serving and praying with customers and supervising and praying with volunteers (40%)
- Ensure a safe and clean environment and equipment to comply with hygiene standards (40%)
- Ensure food is stored and handled safely to minimise waste (10%)
- Ensure everything is prepared for the Food Shop sessions to run smoothly the following week (10%)
- Keep Christ central to activities in the Food Shop project (always)

Salary: £27,000 per annum pro rata (plus 5% pension commencing from successful completion of probation period).
Hours: 7.5 per week
Working Pattern as below (with occasional working outside of these times).
Saturday 9:00am – 5:00pm*
*Roughly once per month, the finish time will instead be 2:30pm and the remaining 2.5 hours will be worked on a Monday morning (9:30-12) to join staff meetings.
In addition, if agreed with the Food Shop Manager, it is possible for some Saturday afternoon tasks to be completed on Mondays or Tuesdays instead.
Annual Leave: 28 days per annum pro rata, including bank holidays
Location: This role is based at the Community Food Shop in the St Nicholas Centre in Sutton (SM1 1AY), with occasional travel to the office (Highfield Hall, 320 Carshalton Road, SM5 3QB).
Occupational Requirement: This role involves offering and participating in Christian prayer with members of the public and volunteers, leading devotions and group prayer, and providing pastoral care and supervision to volunteers. It is therefore an occupational requirement for the post-holder to be a practicing Christian.
We are looking for someone who:

- Cares deeply for those in need and wants to put their Christian faith into action to serve them through addressing food insecurity
- Is hardworking and thorough when completing tasks

- Is confident and trustworthy in working independently
- Is comfortable with physically demanding work and spending a lot of time on their feet
- Is comfortable using electronic systems and devices
- Is highly organised and has excellent attention to detail
- Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Has some understanding of safeguarding, confidentiality and health and safety (training can be provided)

About the charity
Living in the North West, we're 25% more likely to be diagnosed with cancer than elsewhere in the UK and many cancers are much more common across the region. The region also suffers from extreme social-deprivation and health inequalities which, when combined, lead to a lower-than-average life-expectancy and poorer quality of life for our communities.
Community fundraising is an important vehicle to challenge this - by raising money and awareness.

What will I be fundraising for?

About the role:
This role is based in Ashford, Kent and is hybrid. This job cannot be home based and you will need to be able to travel across Kent and Medway.
As the Team Leader for our Community Team you will be:

About the role:
We are looking for a Team Leader to manage the team based in Preston covering South and Central Lancashire, supporting victims of all risk levels. It is a very busy service and a demanding role and you will need to have lots of passion, experience, drive and resilience to ensure that your team are supported effectively and delivering good quality services.
As a Team Leader you will be Supporting a team of 6-8 staff providing expert advise and guidance and conducting robust case management to ensure that your team are providing quality services and addressing the needs and risks of our clients.
You will need:
- An IDVA accreditation or equivalent
- Experience of managing a team of a similar size and scope in a comparable service.
- An extensive understanding of domestic abuse, risk assessment and risk management including experience of working with high risk victims and/or perpetrators of domestic abuse, those with complex needs and/or challenging behaviour.
- The ability to build relationships with key stakeholders and develop multi-agency responses to support victims and reduce the harm they potentially face
- The ability to advocate and appropriately challenge agencies in order to achieve positive outcomes and reduce the risks posed to victims

We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated individual to work as our Access to Healthcare Advisor. You will provide advice and casework to asylum seekers, refugees and migrants on issues related to accessing healthcare and NHS charging. You will also deliver training sessions to NHS staff and help our clients’ share their stories and experiences of accessing healthcare.
You will have experience of working providing advice and information to individuals and understand the needs of asylum seekers, refugees and migrants. Ideally, you will also have an understanding of immigration issues and/or how to navigate healthcare services.
We are currently working in a hybrid model. You would be expected to work one to two days/week from our office in Deptford.

About the charity
Living in the North West, we're 25% more likely to be diagnosed with cancer than elsewhere in the UK and many cancers are much more common across the region. The region also suffers from extreme social-deprivation and health inequalities which, when combined, lead to a lower-than-average life-expectancy and poorer quality of life for our communities.
Community fundraising is an important vehicle to challenge this - by raising money and awareness.
There are two roles in the team - one full time and one part-time. Regions could be either Greater Manchester, Lancashire or North Wales - you'll be homebased with travel across the patch to meet supporters.
We're flexible on how the region is split, depending on where talented people live.
What will I be fundraising for?
Recent fundable projects include a groundbreaking annual Regional Report on cancer and the innovative Lab-Coat Learning education programme for the region's schools.
You'll act as the face of the charity out in the community, spreading the word about how fundraising can drive positive change. You'll develop relationships with volunteer fundraisers, community groups and local businesses, encouraging and motivating them to fundraise.
You'll deliver interactive presentations, activities and outreach sessions at schools and volunteer groups, offering support, advice and guidance on how people can supercharge their fundraising.

Our mission at Hope into Action is to enable the local church to house the homeless and we’re looking for a Team Lead to strengthen and guide our team in Peterborough.
Hours are negotiable but will either be 4 or 5 days a week (32 or 40 hours). You will be based in the Hope into Action Hope Centre working alongside the Peterborough team and rest of Support Centre.
You will lead the current team of 6 staff to provide temporary, supported accommodation to over 40 men, women and children across 17 homes in Peterborough.
Whilst managing the team in the daily tasks you will also work to strengthen relationships with external agencies, local authorities and agree a strategic vision for the future of the project in line with your line manager (Head of Delivery & Training). Each home is partnered with a local church who provide love and friendship for the tenants that you will also support. Peterborough was where Hope into Action began back in 2011. We are at the forefront of providing excellent quality supported accommodation to those that need it most in the city. Partnering with 11 churches, we currently have 17 homes each serving different demographics.
We provide not just shelter and housing but also the friendship and community of a church. Together with 100 churches, Hope into Action UK provide direct support to people whom others have often given up on. This project is a development from the first Realising the Benefits of World Heritage to Local Communities (RtB) project funded by Historic England. While the original project identified the problems faced by the World Heritage sector in engaging communities, this second phase of RtB is designed to help World Heritage UK (WHUK) and the wider sector in fully understanding who World Heritage Site communities are, and the challenges Sites and communities face in engaging wider and more diverse communities. Working with Sites, and their communities WHUK will co-create a sustainable platform in which to identify actions and solutions which will widen engagement and participation in World Heritage.
Through this collaborative approach which will inform every element of the work, the primary purpose of this 2.5-year project is to ensure WHUK can better support World Heritage Sites in the UK in engaging communities, growing audiences, enhancing community participation and growing a wider diversity of audiences and engagement within UK WHSs and the wider heritage sector.
Overall Purpose of the Role:
- Develop and improve relationships within the World Heritage sector and communities
- Develop an ongoing platform for a network of professionals who work within the World Heritage and community engagement field to come together to share and develop ideas and projects
- Develop digital resources
- Build a better understanding of who World Heritage communities are now, and use developed toolkits to understand and update this in the future
- Increase community engagement within World Heritage Sites

Key Accountabilities:
- Undertake a desktop audit of the users of World Heritage Sites, to include: defining the communities of interest and who key users are; what their motivations might be to engage with World Heritage; what the barriers might be to engagement; and subsequently identifying who any non-users might be and what barriers they may experience that prevents engagement
- Identify a minimum of 20% of Sites, of differing characteristics, to undertake an in-depth audience profile, applying the desktop audit findings in practice
- Produce a way of reporting on the impact and value of community engagement in World Heritage, which can be replicated annually and shared to all World Heritage Sites
- Develop a new way of capturing data from World Heritage Sites on community engagement to inform ongoing impact reports and create a baseline
- Create, or share, toolkits and examples of models of engagement for community engagement
- Create an online platform of resources that can be shared between all World Heritage Sites which might:
