Youth Worker (Women's Worker) – 9 Month Maternity Cover
We are looking for a highly motivated and passionate team player to join our growing team as a full-time Youth Worker (Women’s Worker) on a fixed term 9-month maternity cover contract. 
In this role, you will work within the Youth Work Team to deliver our frontline drop-in service and support our weekly and monthly activities to all young people experiencing homelessness.
You’ll specialise in sharing knowledge and expertise in gender-informed work, leading the delivery of our weekly Women and Non-Binary space, facilitating group sessions and supporting a caselist of young women experiencing multiple and complex needs.
Ideally you should be experienced in working with young people aged 18-25 and/or have demonstrable experience working directly with women (of any age). You will understand gender informed practice and have experience or transferable skills working with those who are survivors of domestic violence and other gender-based violence. You will also be committed to the safeguarding of all young people and delivering an inclusive and trauma-informed service.
You should be experienced designing, planning and facilitating a range of activities, able to work dynamically in a fast-paced day centre environment and be skilled in engaging a diverse range of young people in positive activities.

As an Adult Carers Support Worker, you will be part of a small, dedicated team and take a lead on providing emotional support to adult carers and a commitment to enhancing their health and wellbeing. About the role:

The Islington Multi-Disciplinary Service is funded by the London Borough of Islington. The service is funded to  support vulnerable residents aged 18 and upwards , with a focus on tenancy sustainment and developing independent living skills. The service works closely with partner agencies across the borough to support clients to maximise opportunities to lead fulfilling lives. Partner agencies include local Housing Departments , DWP , Treatment Agencies and Mental Health Services.

The role of the FSW is to support a caseload of up to 25 clients within a recovery framework. 

The primary focus is on preventing tenancy breakdown, improving quality of life and promoting independence. This can involve helping our clients to maximise or stabilise their income. It could also involve us helping tenants to address other issues such as substance use and mental health problems. 

The role includes hybrid working and will be based in our office in Holloway and at home.

About you:

About the Service

Providing advice, information, onward referral and holistic support to clients who are experiencing mental ill health or need support with their mental wellbeing. Women at the Well is a support service for women based in the King’s Cross area of central London. We provide practical support and advocacy to women facing a wide range of disadvantages, and we have a specialism in working with women whose lives have been affected by prostitution and/or sexual exploitation.

We run three inter-related services: (1) a women only drop-in service, where food, laundry, showers and gentle activities are available without any pressure to undertake anything else; (2) an advocacy service from our King’s Cross hub where assigned key workers support women to access their entitlements and more; and (3) an outreach service where we visit areas of London where women are rough sleeping as well as hostels and other settings. In everything we do we are trauma informed, holistic and woman-centred. We take referrals from many external partners and while we have a hub-centre in Kings Cross we are a pan-London service.

We are currently recruiting for two roles in our small and friendly support worker team doing vital and life-saving work with very marginalised women. We are seeking: an Outreach Support Worker (works shifts in the community, with some time spent at King’s Cross hub); and an Inhouse Support Worker(based at our King’s Cross hub), both on 9 months contracts with a possibility of extension.

We also will deliver HIV support and testing services including clinical consultation to those not registered with a GP.

You will lead by example, with your demonstrable experience delivering person-centred, compassionate care to people seeking asylum or other excluded community, as well as deploying your effective advocacy, coordination, and multi-tasking skills. The role requires emotional agility, and resilience, especially when dealing with complex situations such as mental health crises, trafficking, and homelessness, where you will draw on your experience to manage complex situations calmly and compassionately. About the role

The Engagement & Outreach Service Manager will lead the development and implementation of this service, combining previous work from CIT and Wellbeing teams, as well as managing a team of Outreach Workers and Complex Needs Case Workers. • To be the lead expert for the organisation around the themes of health and wellbeing, dual diagnosis, mental health and substance use, translating this to providing expertise.

Desired experience

• Leading a team or teams delivering effective services to groups of vulnerable clients, in either a supported housing, support, care or other relevant environment and monitoring the performance of those services.
• Experience of writing and implementing operational plans and contributing to longer term planning.
• Organising a demanding and varied workload, planning work and projects and successfully completing these to set deadlines.
• Effective experience of building constructive working relationships with a variety of internal and external contacts to produce positive outcomes, with a specific focus on health-related impact or services.

Desired knowledge

• Knowledge and understanding of the support needs of people experiencing homelessness and multiply disadvantaged people and the ability to translate knowledge into good practice.
• In depth understanding of statutory mental health services, treatment services, primary and acute care settings that are relevant to the groups of people we work with.
• Knowledge of good practice in relation to harm reduction, safety planning and risk management.
• Knowledge of effective leadership and management techniques and how these are applied.

Soteria London is a Community Interest Company (CIC) whose mission is to create compassionate alternatives for individuals experiencing crisis and distress, especially for those experiencing altered states, often called psychosis,  and their families and social networks. We are part of a larger network in the UK and abroad, which promotes the Soteria model of personal relationships, interactive activities and communities with the minimal use of psychiatric medication within a comfortable “living community” as opposed to a conventional psychiatric setting.

We are looking for a  part-time Community Development Worker to help grow supportive communities for people experiencing altered states, often called psychosis, and their families and social networks. in North London with a specific focus on Haringey/Camden/Islington. The role will focus on mapping and building neighbourhood communities that offer kinder alternatives to mainstream services,  and will involve working closely with individuals, their families and social networks.

We are planning to submit a bid in April 2025 for a 24/7 Community Mental Health Pilot as set out in the NHS England invitation and the Community Development Worker will play a key role in growing partnerships and facilitating the community led development of this bid. The successful candidate will employ compassionate, empowering, and community-centred social justice approaches that address racial, gender, and class inequities.

The freelance role include:

● Creating inclusive communities of support, that value diversity and cultural sensitivity, to support people in crisis and distress, especially people experiencing altered states, often called psychosis, and their families and social networks, with a focus on Haringey/Camden/Islington

● Building new and strengthening existing relationships with like-minded individuals and organisations

● Setting up a Soteria supportive central hub or community space to facilitate activities and collaborations

● Help people find their voice through creative, artistic and well-being and somatic initiatives, such as our "Soteria in the Pub" program and body work sessions.

● Promoting collaborative learning through events and sharing sessions to explore and reflect on existing and historical compassionate, empowering and community focused approaches to supporting people in crisis and distress and their families and networks, to identify what may work in our local communities in Haringey/Camden/Islington

● Exploring options for piloting support to individuals and their families and networks in their own homes - a ‘Soteria at Home’ approach

● Developing and gathering feedback on a pilot approach to supporting  individuals who wish to reduce or cease their medications.

● Identifying the learning and training needs for the proposed areas of work that have come through our collaborative piloting, learning and reflection. These include the requirements for operating a Soteria House and a Soteria at Home approach; exploring and developing various forms of peer support, including models like Hearing Voices, Open Dialogue, and Intentional Peer Support.

● Drawing on the activities above to develop a bid for an exciting NHS England 24/7 Community Mental Health pilot project where people are in control of their own care, as well as exploring other possible funding options for our proposed areas of work

To thrive in this role, you'll need:

● Excellent communication skills for engaging with diverse communities.

● Knowledge of mental health services, particularly for extreme distress. People with lived experience are encouraged to apply. 

● Experience in social media outreach and engagement.

● Project management and event planning skills.

● Experience in monitoring and evaluation.

● Administrative, budgeting, and fundraising skills.

Are you interested in supporting people at immediate risk of rough sleeping and making a real difference to the lives of people who are homeless?

The St Mungo’s Pan London Rough Sleeping Team (No Second Night Out) provide a rapid response service, intervening to ensure no one needs to sleep rough, our work is ongoing and we are currently looking for people to join our services across London. 

As an Assessment and Reconnection Worker, you will: 

• Be part of a busy team environment working closely with people new to, or at risk of rough sleeping. 

• Provide a personalised case management service to clients, turning assessment recommendations into practical action plans which fully involves the client.

• Build and maintain effective relationships to support clients throughout their recovery.

• Develop a knowledge of relevant legislation such as, welfare benefit and housing legislation.

• Work on a weekly rota including early, mid and late shifts (some evening and weekend work may be required).
