In April 2022, Smart Works launched a Three-Year Plan that will see the charity double the number of women helped annually from 5,000 to 10,000 women a year. We are on track to achieve this by expanding the reach of our existing centres and opening new centres in areas of need including Bristol; set to open in early 2025.

This role

As Smart Works moves into our next strategy phase, we are looking to strengthen our commitment to being led by data and using technology to enhance the service we provide. The Database Manager will play a key role in guiding this mission.

Smart Works is looking for an experienced and motivated database manager passionate about using data for good. This role will be crucial in managing and developing Smart Works' CRM systems that underpin the running of our key functions, ensuring data integrity, providing support to all users across the UK and enabling strong outcomes for the women we support. The post holder’s work will be essential in allowing staff across the charity to use data to improve our operations and outcomes for the women we support as we enter our new strategy cycle. 

You will also play an important role in training and supporting staff across all Smart Works locations to use these systems, enabling them to harness the power of data in their day-to-day work. Your ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical staff will be vital to the success of this role.

The role will be a hybrid position, based out of one our UK Smart Works centres. but the role will work across Smart Works, providing support and maintaining digital infrastructure across all the teams.

There may be occasional evening and weekend work as the successful candidate will be part of the wider centre team, supporting with networking and key events support. The post holder, if not based in London, will also be required to travel into London on occasion for training and team meetings.

Key Responsibilities 

Oversee the Youth Voice programme

• Oversee the day to day running of The Mix’s Youth Voice programme, ensuring its alignment with
  The Mix’s strategy
• Lead the management of a database with 500+ young people, overseeing monthly reporting and
  data reviews
• Cultivate and maintain a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment for active youth participation
• Matrix manage a team of dedicated Youth Voice staff leads, providing guidance, support, and
  fostering collaboration
• Design and deliver Youth Voice training for all staff to equip everyone for meaningful involvement
  of young people in their work
• Advocate for the meaningful involvement of young people in all aspects of The Mix’s internal and
  partnership work from ideation through to evaluation
• Collaborate with internal teams and prominent brands and organisations to integrate youth insights
  into decision-making processes
• Lead Youth Voice projects, emphasising the amplification of young people’s voices while managing
• timelines and budgets effectively

Essential

• A commitment to advocating for young people’s voices and ideas, with a drive to support and create

The role

• Strategic development and oversight of community programmes for children, adults and across multiple generations

Report to: Head of Food Distribution and Volunteering

Responsible for: Leading the food distribution service and quality assurance at Hackney Foodbank’s allocated Food Distribution Centres located across the borough of Hackney. This includes ensuring all our visitors have a positive experience when collecting their food parcels and are signposted to other provisions appropriately; being responsible for directing the volunteers, working closely with the Head of Food Distribution and Volunteering, Health and Safety, and promoting best practice at each centre. This role will also involve administrative tasks, organising and carrying out home deliveries for visitors, inputting data on visitors’ journeys accurately into a database, driving the Hackney Giving Van occasionally and regularly driving a Luton van to the various Distribution Centres.

Part-time: 25 hours per week, evening and/or weekend work is required

Salary: £27,500 per year (pro-rata for 25 hours per week)

Compulsory: Must have a UK manual driving licence

Specific responsibilities:

· Attend Hackney Foodbank’s Food Distribution Centres to ensure each Centre is run in accordance with HFB’s best practice procedures.

About the Brent Centre for Young People (BCYP)

The Brent Centre for Young People is the leading mental health charity for young people in Northwest London, helping over 700 young people a year with a wide range of issues. We offer specialised treatment in the areas of depression, suicide prevention, tackling self-harm, eating disorders, exam anxiety and more. Our approach is rooted in psychoanalytic psychotherapy. Fundraising at BCYP

BCYP has historically been very successful in raising funds from non-statutory sources, particularly trusts and foundations, and is grateful to hold a number of established relationships with grant- makers. We work hard to ensure that we submit excellent, data-driven applications and evaluations. Until now, applications have largely been submitted by our Fundraising Manager- Trusts & Foundations, with occasional support from a freelance bid-writer. We now want to recruit a new member of the team, to help us to grow our income stream in this area and help us to steward these key relationships.

Strong analytical and communication skills are essential, along with the ability to present complex financial data to diverse audiences to ensure the organisation's financial sustainability. Experience in the charity sector and in developing financial strategy is essential for this role.

At the Islington Centre for Refugees and migrants, we welcome people who have been displaced from their countries of origin, wherever they have come from, whatever has happened in their lives. Our mission is to offer people the emotional support, practical tools and sense of community they need to be happy and have a decent quality of life in the UK. We are a small, growing charity, founded in 1997, with an expenditure budget of roughly £570,000 for the year ahead. This year we worked with 200 people offering compassionate, long term and holistic support including: a warm welcoming Centre in Islington; an Online School teaching English and offering activities to promote wellbeing; digital inclusion; grants to people in destitution and our Support Service which offers advocacy and advice to people on accessing housing, healthcare and legal advice. 

About the role: 

The successful applicant will work alongside our Trustees, our CEO and our existing Head of Fundraising and Communications in a jobshare to meet challenging fundraising targets. You will be joining us at an exciting time of development, as we open at our third site in Islington, welcome new members of staff to our team and begin work on a new strategy for 2025-2028. We have a strong track record of grant fundraising and seek someone who can support us to diversify our income, develop a fundraising strategy with a variety of income streams and bring experience and ideas to raise our profile. You will be part of a small and highly committed fundraising team of three including the existing Head of Fundraising and Communications, our Fundraising Officer and yourself. This role will focus on corporate, community, and major donor stewardship. Our work is hybrid and the role requires working both at the Centre in Islington and from home. As the Head of Fundraising and Communications, you will play a pivotal role in supporting some of the most vulnerable refugees, asylum seekers and migrants in London to rebuild their lives.

As the Risk and Internal Audit Manager, you will play a pivotal role in fortifying our organisation by overseeing both risk management and internal audit operations. You will develop and manage CARE International UK’s risk management framework, maintain and update the organisation’s risk register, and provide regular risk management reports. You will also develop and execute an annual internal audit plan, ensuring compliance with recognised auditing standards. Your role involves coordinating with various CARE entities and overseeing specialist audits in areas like cybersecurity and GDPR. International travel will be required to support CARE International UK funded programmes.

It’s an exciting time to join War Child as they have just launched their new Alliance initiative, which brings together the five War Child fundraising members (in the Netherlands, UK, Germany and Sweden, plus Children in Conflict in the US), with 14 programme members, and coordinated by a new international body: the War Child Alliance Foundation. Through the Alliance they are integrating programme activities under one umbrella – allowing War Child to combine strengths and pool resources – all with the aim to multiply impact for conflict-affected children.

The Philanthropy Manager is a key member of the Philanthropy & Partner Engagement Department within War Child’s award-winning Fundraising team. Working closely with the Philanthropy Lead (line manager) and Senior Philanthropy Manager, you will manage a portfolio of major donors at 5- and 6-figure level to support a team target of c£1.4M.

Results oriented, you will have strong interpersonal and management skills together with a flexible and proactive approach. This is a great opportunity for a motivated relationship fundraiser with a passion for international development to join a successful and ambitious team.

As Philanthropy Manager, you will: 

• Identify and qualify a pipeline for up to 6-figure gifts for both unrestricted and restricted giving
• Lead and be supported on building an excellent stewardship programme, supporting relationship managers across the team to deliver sector leading supporter journeys
• Develop and implement strong cultivation and solicitation plans for existing donors to generate significant income from the portfolio. This will include personal meetings, attending networking events, writing proposals/reports and making presentations
• Take an active role where relevant, on the planning and delivery of a diverse portfolio of philanthropy events, including events that are hosted by Ambassadors

Ideal skills and experience: 

• Experienced in a similar fundraising role, with a knowledge of major donor fundraising, ideally within an international development or humantarian NGO
• Ability to input into fundraising strategies with a track record of securing 4-5 figure gifts and delivering against targets
• Experienced in stewardship strategies for major donors or the development of supporter journeys in order to retain donors
• A relationship focussed approach with strong networking skills at senior levels internally and externally
