About the Role:
This new position will drive our income generation efforts through various channels and initiatives. You will develop and implement business development strategies to attract financial support from individuals, corporations, foundations, and potential donors. The role will proactively engage with donors, build relationships, and cultivate partnerships to create and maximise income generation to support our mission and programmes.
What You'll Do:
Drive development of Urban Synergy’s presence in business FTSE 250 and others, through successful inbound and outbound prospect and client engagement.

Identify relevant grant opportunities and draft compelling proposals ensuring timely their submission including reports, and related documentation.
Attend networking events, conferences, and community gatherings to expand the organisation's network and establish strategic partnerships.
Track and analyse income generation activities, prepare regular reports and revenue forecasts on fundraising progress, outcomes, and ROI.
Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and ethical standards in fundraising activities.
Who we are looking for:
Someone with substantial and demonstrable experience of working with corporates within FTSE 250 and the commercial sector. This includes proactively acquiring new partnerships and maximising existing relationships, including how to access the decision makers.
Have excellent presentation and negotiating skills, representing the charity in a range of settings and to a range of audiences.
Be a self-starter with strong sales and influencing skills, Able to work independently in particular in developing corporate fundraising products and tools.
Degree in Business, nonprofit management, marketing, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
Proven experience in income/revenue generation, fundraising, or new business sales, preferably within the nonprofit sector.
Strong knowledge of fundraising principles, techniques, and best practices.
Excellent communication, writing and interpersonal skills, displaying a commitment to excellence and careful attention to detail.
Target driven with an ability to think strategically and develop and implement compelling fundraising strategies.
Strong organisational and project management skills.
Proficiency in fundraising software, CRM systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
Knowledge of ethical fundraising practices and compliance regulations.

Post summary
This is an exciting position for an exceptional person with fundraising, campaigning, policy, communications and management/leadership experience to temporarily direct one of the UK’s leading human rights NGOs. In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to oversee high-impact civil liberties campaigns to achieve real change and manage a high-performing multi-disciplinary team to further privacy, free expression and data protection rights in the United Kingdom. Importantly, you’ll be an experienced fundraiser, responsible for leading our grants and major giving to maintain Big Brother Watch’s income growth, and have experience with financial reporting.
You’ll have a diverse skill-set enabling you to line manage our Advocacy Manager, Digital Communications Manager and Head of Research and Investigations. An ideal candidate will also be responsible for leading the development of policy positions on new and emerging issues alongside our talented team.
You may also share spokesperson responsibilities, taking up our role as a recognised voice on civil liberties matters in the national media, though this is not essential.
The start and end of the position will include comprehensive handover periods with the current Director, and may include a period of co-working full time with the current Director.

About you
We’re looking for highly experienced professional with a track record of NGO fundraising and management with a demonstrable passion for protecting civil liberties, especially privacy and freedom of expression. Ideally, you’ll have a high level of experience of or interest in working on new and emerging technologies.
Importantly, you’ll have excellent political judgement. You’ll have strong knowledge of British politics, a strong network of relevant contacts and significant experience both fundraising and advocating for change.
You’ll have an entrepreneurial approach, always identifying opportunities to boost Big Brother Watch’s campaigns, resources and reputation. The ideal candidate will appreciate the importance of winning in the court of public opinion in order to win in parliament, and have the skills to do both.
You’ll be a brilliant communicator internally and externally, able to simplify complex technology issues and convey powerful messages whether in campaign slogans or in interviews as a Big Brother Watch spokesperson.
You’ll be at ease working on a strictly non-partisan, cross-party basis and grounding our campaigns and communications strategies in human rights and liberal principles. You’ll also embody our principles of equality, respect and accountability.

The Food Chain exists to ensure people living with HIV in London can access the nutrition they need to get well, stay well and lead healthy, independent lives. We deliver meals, groceries and formula milk, run cookery and nutrition classes, and hold twice-weekly communal meals for some of the most vulnerable and isolated people living with HIV in London.
We are the only HIV Nutrition specialist charity in the UK: we exist at the intersection between HIV, food poverty and social isolation. Everyone accessing our services is referred by a health or social care professional who has identified that they are experiencing crisis. Each person receives a personalised Dietetic Assessment from one of our HIV Specialist Dietitians, designed specifically to meet their needs. By offering a tailored package of support, at the appropriate time, we help people to lead healthy, independent lives.
The Grants and Fundraising Manager will work closely with the CEO in order to ensure that income is secured to enable the delivery and sustainability of our services and activities. Taking the lead on applications to trusts and grant giving organisations, the successful candidate will also work with our fundraising working group (made up of staff, trustees and volunteers) to maximise diverse income generation strategies on a community and individual level.

Position: Grants and Fundraising Manager

Location: Flexible and remote working is offered to all staff. We have an office in Caledonian Road, London, and we deliver some services in Stepney Green. We envisage this role being hybrid.

The 2026 Centenary is a significant milestone in CPRE’s history. This critical role will play a pivotal part in ensuring the success of the campaign. The postholder will be responsible for developing and managing the Centenary project management plan and engaging key stakeholders, including trustees, volunteers and supporters, internally and externally throughout the organisation, nationally and locally; monitoring objectives; and identifying and mitigating any associated risks.
With exceptional relationship building skills, you will support delivery of the Centenary Appeal, working closely with fundraising teams, and ensure our HNWI donors, key funders and volunteers are stewarded appropriately. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in membership services, community engagement, account management, or a related field, with a proven track record of driving growth within a membership organisation. Experience working to targets and achieving business or performance objectives is essential. The successful candidate will have demonstrated their ability to support and foster a cross-organisation sales mindset and culture, leveraging digital technologies to drive cross-platform sales.
Responsibilities of the role include:
- Develop and Implement Membership Strategies: Create and execute strategies for membership recruitment, retention, and engagement to drive growth.
- Maintain Membership Records: Ensure accurate and up-to-date membership records, maintaining data integrity in the CRM database.
- Manage Communication Channels: Oversee effective communication channels with members and manage social media profiles to support CILIP campaigns.
- Create and Execute Outreach Campaigns: Collaborate with colleagues to design and implement outreach campaigns to attract new members and represent CILIP at industry events.
- Develop and Improve Sales Pipeline: Develop, oversee, and improve a sales pipeline for all CILIP products and services, managing lead generation to the buying decision.
- Reporting and Evaluation: Prepare regular reports on membership trends and engagement activities, and evaluate the effectiveness of initiatives, providing recommendations for improvement based on data analysis.

Key Attributes:
- At least five years of marketing management experience, with a strong focus on digital marketing strategies, SEO, and campaign analytics.
- Proven ability to work in fast-paced, high-stress environments while maintaining a positive, can-do attitude.

Key responsibilities:
1. Strategic Planning & Development
- Lead the overall strategic direction for WECare’s digital marketing, focusing on long-term growth and engagement.
- Develop and oversee comprehensive marketing strategies and communication plans to increase awareness and supporter engagement.
- Conduct audience and market research to shape targeted campaigns and forecast future marketing opportunities.
- Collaborate with teams across fundraising, social media, and external partners to ensure cohesive execution of digital strategies.
- Monitor and analyse digital marketing performance using data-driven insights to inform adjustments and future strategies.
2. Digital Marketing & Analysis
- Drive WECare’s digital growth by leading SEO, social media, email marketing, and online advertising initiatives.
- Oversee the management of WECare’s digital platforms, ensuring they are aligned with organisational goals and effectively engaging target audiences.
- Analyse data from digital marketing campaigns to optimise performance and inform strategic direction.
- Implement advertising campaigns (Google Ad Grants, paid social media) to attract new supporters and grow WECare’s international reach.
- Support the Fundraising department in developing and improving donor development initiatives, (such as supporter journeys) fostering lasting relationships through platforms like Mailchimp and HubSpot CRM.
3. Content Oversight & Campaign Management
- Oversee the creation of content (written, visual, multimedia) by internal teams and external partners, ensuring it aligns with WECare’s messaging and goals.
- Act as a strategic guide for content creation, focusing on maintaining consistency and supporting overall digital strategies.
- Ensure content supports broader marketing and fundraising goals while delegating day-to-day content creation to team members and creative professionals.
- Lead the planning and management of major digital marketing campaigns, working closely with relevant teams to ensure success.
4. Partnership & Community Engagement
- Identify and cultivate relationships with sponsors, partners, and local communities to strengthen WECare's support network.
- Support the organisation and promotion of key events, securing sponsorships and partnerships to enhance visibility.
- Lead outreach to the local and international community, promoting responsible animal care and building support for WECare’s mission.
5. Performance & Reporting
- Track and evaluate the effectiveness of marketing efforts, providing insights into performance and areas for improvement.
- Ensure that all marketing activities are cost-effective and within budget.
- Review marketing tools, platforms, and technologies regularly to ensure they align with WECare's needs and growth plans.
