About the role

We are offering a paid internship for a young person aged 18-25 with personal experience of housing issues or homelessness who is keen to make a difference to the lives of other young people.

The role will work on our Voices in Action programmes with 16-25 year olds with experience of homelessness and school exclusion. Young people on these programmes design workshops and digital content to empower their peers with knowledge of their rights and campaign for change.

We are looking for someone with experience of working directly with other young people and some office experience to support the coordination and administration of our Voices in Action ambassador programmes. The successful candidate will gain experience across a range of areas including project administration and coordination, youth engagement and participation.

This is a new role giving you the opportunity and responsibility to build on our successful fundraising and extend our appeal to new donors as well as maintain our existing supporters. You will need demonstrable fundraising experience and the ability to work confidently as a strategic thinker and as a practical fundraiser. You will hit the ground running and come with strong ideas and skills to implement them.

As head of fundraising you will work closely with the CEO to grow charitable income and philanthropic support from governments, individuals, trusts and foundations, corporate companies and other areas. You will help her drive the charity's work forward and work closely with our project teams and see the direct impact of your efforts.

You will have developed your portfolio of fundraising skills over time within charities that work for social good and can demonstrate experiene in securing fundraising income particularly in securing five and six figure grants/donations. Experience of securing statutory funding will be essential. You will have experience of line managing junior fundraising staff and will be keen to develop your managerial responsibility.

You will be a confident and capable leader who will work with colleagues towards supporting an annual programme of circa £3m. This role is crucial to building the charity's long-term sustainability, with a focus on exploring innovative opportunities.

The role offers an exciting opportuinity for an experienced fundraising professional with a passion for tackling social problems particularly in child protection or related areas. It is a great opportunity to take the next step in your fundraising career and make an impact.

The charity is currently in a period of strategic review and over the coming years as our new strategy gets implemented and new projects are developed to widen our reach, the head of fundraising will develop a strong case for support and articulate the aims and impact of our work to funders. The Role

Head of Social Impact

This role will report to the strategy and partnerships director and will work closely with the research and policy director and political director, as well as other members of the senior management team, heads of teams and the wider staff.

Key tasks and responsibilities

Ensuring social impact is considered across our work

• Maintain Green Alliance’s reputation as a respected thought leader on climate and nature issues by leading and supporting the development and delivery of high quality strategies to secure impact in the environmental / health policy intersection. This may include research and policy development, political advocacy strategies and communications work.
• Advise colleagues on the narratives, framings and relationships that we should build in order to further our goals and use skills and experience to help build these. Use your networks to help us land our work with impact involving the right partners.
• Work with theme leads and the senior management team to design research plans that will ensure we are considering the distributional and other impacts our policy recommendations would have for different parts of society.
• Engage business, unions and other stakeholders to strengthen Green Alliance’s insights, political advocacy and communications work.
• When managing projects delegate, manage, support and develop staff who are part of the project team

Strategy:

• Support the development of an organisational strategy that recognises the importance of fairness, equity and social impact.
• Ensure that the day-to-day execution of our strategy is informed by our longer-term ambitions and aspirations.
• Develop a framework for mapping the political stakeholders Green Alliance engages with and execute a plan to diversify them in a way that is supportive of our goals. This may include exploring our relationships with regional political leaders.

Fundraising:

• Understand our philanthropic and business partnerships and develop a plan to increase and diversify them in ways that support the organisations goals and projects. Secure funding to undertake collaborations with relevant organisations to undertake innovative projects.
• Monitor and evaluate the results of projects and impacts, collating evidence effectively in reports to funders.

Other:

• As this is a senior role, you will help to support organisational decision making and model effective leadership.
• Support colleagues with other tasks, as required.
• Contribute to strategic, project planning, and organisational development processes.
• Represent Green Alliance at meetings, seminars, conferences and in the media, as required.
• Write articles and blogs for Green Alliance and outside bodies in line with organisational objectives.

The Children's Society has been helping children and young people in this country for over 140 years. We run local services that support children when they are at their most vulnerable and in desperate need of help. We're there for children, every step of the way.

This role leads and manages the Research, Evaluation and Impact (REI) team and will set the strategic direction for research and evidence of impact at TCS. The REI team works alongside the Policy, Advocacy and Influencing knowledge group to form the Influence, Impact and Evidence area within the Youth Impact Domain. In this role you will lead the development of an evidence base which demonstrates impact in accordance with our strategic intent, theory of change and goal. Leading a small team of research, evaluation and impact specialists, you will provide expert and influential advice on research, evaluation and evidence of impact, and draw on a range of methodologies. You will also lead a proactive programme of evidence dissemination, supporting and sharing organisational learning.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, collaborative and diligent manager who is passionate about driving impactful research and making a difference to the lives of children and young people, to develop an ambitious new future programme for our research, evaluation and impact portfolio.

Key priorities for the role will be:

-Setting the direction for TCS's research and evaluation portfolio, reviewing and developing the REI team plan to support strategic priorities, including management of the associated budget and line managing members of the REI team.

-Providing management, strategic oversight, insight and input as required to successfully deliver a programme of research and evaluation; including the delivery of research reports, annual impact report, and support for commissioning service evaluations.

-Strategic oversight of the annual Good Childhood report, including planning, management and dissemination.

-Leading the development of new research activities and programmes in key strategic areas and prioritising youth voice, working with colleagues across TCS to identify opportunities and partnerships to further build the evidence base and attract external funding.

-Owning and developing relationships with senior stakeholders across TCS and externally to build REI profile, actively sharing our learning internally and externally and building new relationships and partnerships.

Harris Hill is working with an international environmental charity, who are looking to cover an interim Communications Officer role for 3dpw, on a remote basis. This covers permanent recruitment.

The Team

The Administrative Assistant will work within the operations team to support the smooth running of the London office including managing the office environment, managing suppliers, liaising with our IT support, and ensuring administrative tasks are completed efficiently.  This role will also support REDRESS’ projects with administrative tasks including support with the delivery of events and organising travel.  

Position Profile

The main responsibilities of the role are:

Events support: Assist with delivering internal and external events, including booking flights, hotels, catering, venues, checking VISA requirements, organising interpretation, preparing logistics, drafting forms.

Projects support: Assist with project tasks and support the delivery of activities to strengthen our ‘Community of Practice’ (partner NGOs globally) which includes support with workshops, surveys, follow-up, and newsletters.

Office operations: Support the effective operation of the office, including liaising with our IT providers and supporting staff IT requests, maintaining office supplies, opening and closing the building, helping to keep the office tidy and welcoming, assisting with visitors, and preparing for meetings.

General Responsibilities

The position will contribute to the work of REDRESS as follows:

Human Resources: Assist with the delivery of human resources functions, including the recruitment process. Assist with the recruitment and onboarding of new staff, fellows, and interns.

Financial operations: Support financial operations, including processing expenses claims and expenditure requests.

Managing enquiries: Deal with enquiries by phone, email, and post, and engage with colleagues to respond to them.

Health and Safety: Assist with health and safety assessments and any changes required as a result.

Wellbeing: Assist with the staff peer support group, wellbeing portal, and the social committee.

Database: Support to create and maintain our databases, including mailing lists.

Platforms: Support platforms including the website by uploading content and creating mini sites on Office365 platform.

Communications: Support the Communications team with social media when necessary.

Support to other departments: Provide general administrative assistance to staff, fellows, and interns.

The position is also expected to carry out such further duties as may reasonably be required from time to time by REDRESS.

Person Specification

This is an entry level position, and so we will consider candidates at the beginning of their career, with some relevant experience.

Essential Competencies

The successful candidate will need to have the following essential competencies:

· Educated to degree level and/or at least two years’ relevant experience.

· Relevant experience through internships, volunteer roles, work experience, educational work placements, or other practical experience.

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

· Excellent organisational skills: multi-tasking, attention to detail, flexibility, time-management etc.

Desirable Competencies

A strong candidate will also have other desirable competencies:

· At least two years' relevant work experience, preferably in the non-profit sector or in an international environment. 

· A qualification in administration.  

· Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 suite of software, particularly Excel., and Microsoft Platform.

· Skills in a language other than English, in particular French, Arabic or Spanish.

Terms

Reporting. The position is part of the Operations team and will report to the Operations Manager.

Hours. This is a full-time position at 35 hours a week. Evening and weekend work may be required from time to time.

Location. The position is based at the REDRESS office in London.

Flexible Working. REDRESS is an “in-person” organisation and we value team work, but we have a flexible working policy which allows for working from home. This role is currently required to be in the office at least three days a week.

Salary. REDRESS has fixed salary scales, with annual cost of living increases, and the possibility of step increases with strong performance. This is an entry level assistant position, and the salary is £31,681 which is A1 on our salary structure.

Duration. The contract is for a fixed-term of 12 months, but is expected to be extended, subject to funding.

Start date. The position would start in January 2025.

Probation. There is a six-month probationary period. 

Pension. REDRESS offers a pension contribution of 10% of salary.

Holiday.  There are 25 days of holiday per year, in addition to UK public holidays. The office is also closed between Christmas and New Year.

Status. The candidate must have the right to live and work in the UK. Unfortunately, we cannot sponsor a UK immigration process for this role.

Interview process. We expect to do two rounds of interviews. We may ask candidates to complete a brief written test as part of the process but will provide information on that nearer the time.

· First round Interviews will take place on a rolling basis and will be on-line.

· Final round interview will take place on 27 November 2024 and will be in-person at our office in London.

Join us for a three-month paid internship!

The Women’s Budget Group is looking for an intern to join us for three months compensated at the London Living Wage rate. If you are Black, Asian, mixed heritage or from another Ethnic Minority background; interested in the economics of gender equality; and considering working in communications, policy and influencing government policy, this could be for you. We are particularly interested in candidates who might not have the opportunity to take up an unpaid internship.

Hours:  30 hours per week for full pay (WBG works a shorter working week and is accredited by the 4 Day Week Campaign). 30 hours can be worked over 4 or 5 days per week with flexibility).

We operate a flexible working policy and are very open to applications from people who want to work flexibly or part-time. Some out of hours working may be required for which TOIL will be given.

Location: Hybrid London.  The postholder must be resident in the UK with the right to work in the UK. Office is in Vauxhall, London. Post will be worked as a mixture of office working with two days per week in the office and the other days from home.
