How this role fits into the vision and objectives of Causeway

This is an exciting role that requires high levels of competence in administration, communication and collaboration. The role is to provide personal administrative support to the CEO and SLT and be the first point of contact for external enquiries to the Charity; Helping to maintain high service standards, contractual obligations and to aid effective communication throughout the charity. The role covers a broad range of activities across all areas of Causeway. To be successful in this role, you should be well organised, have great time management skills and be able to act under your own initiative.

Responsibilities:

• Manage and maintain the CEO’s schedule, appointments and travel arrangements
• Assist the CEO in collation and submission of their expense claims.
• Conduct research as required to prepare the CEO and Senior Leadership Team (SLT) for key meetings ensuring they are adequately briefed.
• Co-ordinate and arrange the fortnightly Senior Management Team (SMT) meetings and any additional SMT meetings that may be required.
• Co-ordinate and arrange the Board of Trustees annual meeting schedule.
• Co-ordinate and arrange Board Subcommittee meetings and any exceptional meetings that may need to be called for governance purposes.
• Provide minute taking and administrative support to Senior Management Team meetings
• Provide minute taking and administrative support to Trustee meetings and supporting committees, including co-ordinating the agenda setting process, collation of papers and liaison with the Chair of the Board and Company Secretary.
• Review and process any Trustee expenses incurred due to meeting and event attendance.
• Answer and manage all incoming enquiries on the Causeway external phone line and information@ email address.
• Liaise with the SMT and wider team to ensure all incoming enquiries are responded to and actioned accordingly.
• Support the COO in the monitoring and evaluation of service information, through the collation of quarterly data across all departments.
• Support the COO in the wider service improvement agenda through the production of project management templates and data monitoring.
• Where necessary, provide administrative support to the SLT in the gathering of case studies or data for the purpose of report production for external stakeholders such as commissioning bodies.
• Support the SLT in working groups/service projects through administrative support and action logging within project meetings.
• Any other duties that are commensurate with the role.

The Sophie Lancaster Foundation is a registered charity established in memory of a young woman who was tragically murdered for her distinctive gothic appearance. The Role

We need someone with professional social media and marketing experience who is passionate about driving the Sophie Lancaster Foundation forward. You’ll manage our social media presence, engage with our followers, and create new opportunities for conversation and audience growth. As a champion of our brand, we’ll look to you to ensure our communications are always spot-on. Your writing should shine across various platforms, whether it's website content, leaflets, or marketing emails. With a keen eye for design, you’ll create impactful social media posts and use both photography and video to boost engagement. Identifying ways to expand our audience and increase income is vital for our self-funded sustainability. Besides working at your desk, you’ll also represent the Foundation at events and festivals, becoming a key member of our small team. This role is offered as a one-year contract with the potential to be made permanent and has an annual leave entitlement of 25 days per year.

Press Officer

Salary: £30,000 - £35,000, non negotiable and dependent on experience.
Location: This is a remote role, with a requirement to attend the UK Covid 19 Inquiry as frequently as possible when it is sitting, and on key days such as the opening of Modules or when high profile witnesses are called.
Hours: Full time, but flexible, with a requirement to work outside of office hours to attend key meetings and manage the press inbox when there is high demand.

Covid-19 Bereaved Families for Justice are looking for a press officer to oversee our press and communications as we fight to ensure the mistakes from the pandemic are never repeated again.

This is an exciting opportunity to manage the press office for an organisation which in recent years has been at the forefront of some of the biggest news stories in the country, including the Covid Inquiry, ‘Partygate’ and many more.

We are looking for someone who supports our cause of ensuring that the mistakes made in the pandemic are never repeated and has good people skills to work sensitively with those who have been bereaved by Covid-19.

You will be one of a four person staff team working alongside our Directors and over 7,000 members who are all personally bereaved. You will be line managed by our campaign manager.

Press Officer Responsibilities:

• Manage our press officer so that we are able to respond to press inquiries in a timely and effective manner. We are lucky enough to manage a very busy press office, so strong organisational skills are required.
• Create press plans and proactively pitch stories which help achieve our wider campaign goals. This will involve creating press strategies with creative flare and the Press Officer will need to be comfortable thinking of new angles and stunts to raise our profile.
• To cultivate new and nurture existing media contacts
• Media train and support volunteers from the campaign
• Deputise for the campaign manager when required
• Oversee and generate fresh content for our social media channels, working alongside volunteers from the campaign
• Support with drafting copy to update our members as well as fundraising and reaching other external stakeholders when necessary
• Translate at times complicated policy lines around public health and legal processes into compelling personalised narratives for press statements and comments

Essential Experience:

• Experience of working within a busy press office environment, PR agency or as a journalist  
• Proven experience of creating and implementing effective media strategies which help advance wider organisational aims and goals.
• Proven experience of proactive pitching stories in high profile media outlets that help to advance an organisations aims
• Proven experience of managing and maintaining good relationships with a variety of journalists, including national print and broadcast media, as well as political and health correspondents.
• Experience of prioritising effectively in a demanding and fast paced environment
• Excellent writing skills that can be tailored to reach a range of audiences.
• Experience of working with case studies and being sensitive and supportive to their needs
• Experience of successfully media training spokespeople
• Personal belief in and support for the aims of Covid-19 Bereaved Families for Justice UK
• An understanding of, and commitment to, the principles of equality, diversity and inclusion

Desirable experience

• Experience of managing, creating and implementing media strategies on contested issues in a fast paced environment.

The Role

The People & Culture team (PACT) is responsible for corporate people strategy and planning. The team develops HR policies and standards and provides efficient, accurate and customer-focused support to internal customers across the Administration and Joint Departments

The Role

This is an exciting and challenging opportunity to work across both Houses of Parliament to ensure that our updated Safeguarding policy is effectively implemented and embedded across our varied teams.

The Parliamentary Estate is a mixed-use site, with many different activities involving a wide range of individuals: from members and staff of both Houses, to visitors on democratic access tours and attending proceedings, school children on educational tours, VIP visitors and parliamentary delegations, and tourists from all over the world.

You will need to work with teams across Parliament to understand these different activities, assess the risks of harm to children and adults at risk, the likelihood of those risks materialising, and how Parliament can effectively mitigate them. You will lead in the roll out of our updated Safeguarding policy alongside the development of a network of trained safeguarding coordinators, developing a community of interest to share best practice and guidance.

Some of the responsibilities for this role include:

• To be the lead source of advice and guidance on safeguarding policy and practice within Parliament.
• Support the work of the Safeguarding board, providing expert briefing, analysis and recommendations as required by the board.
• To act as an additional Designated Safeguarding Officer, supporting the work of the existing Designated Safeguarding Leads as required.
• To lead the implementation and continuous improvement of the new safeguarding policy, using a risk-based approach to embedding it in parliamentary activities, structures and culture.

Skills and Experience

To be successful in this role you will demonstrate:

• Experience of successfully implementing safeguarding policy and guidance in an environment which, like Parliament, is a mixed-use site, with a wide range of activities and stakeholders. Evidence of using a risk-based approach to deliver robust and proportionate training, procedures and guidance in support of meeting statutory obligations.
• Specialist knowledge of safeguarding relating to children and adults at risk, with a demonstrable understanding of current legislation, including core principles and current best practice, and the ability to apply this in a pragmatic way relevant to our organisational context.
• Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills with the ability to work across organisational boundaries and teams. Able to confidently engage with and influence people at all levels within the organisation, including senior leaders.
