Islamic Relief Worldwide (IRW) is a faith-based humanitarian relief and development organisation working to save and transform the lives of some of the world’s most vulnerable people.  Established in 1984, with an active presence in over 45 countries, we strive to make the world a better and fairer place for those affected by poverty, conflict and natural disasters. 

IRW’s International Programmes Division is recruiting for the position of ‘Faith Partnership Advisor (FPA)’ on a permanent, full time basis, to join its dynamic team based out of its offices in either Birmingham, London or where IR has an office globally. The organisation is currently operating to a hybrid working policy.

The purpose of the role:

The Faith Partnership Advisor will play a critical role within International Programmes Division (IPD) supporting the Divisions’ strategic objectives to consolidate its identity as an Islamic faith-based institution, leading our Faith Engagement Strategy, representing our approach to important multi-lateral and other institutions, ensuring the faith sensitivity and faith literacy of its programmes and securing funding for its global operations. The role will sit within the Programme Funding and Partnership Department (PFPD) within the IPD.

Building upon our many programme partnerships with other faith-based and non-faith-based actors, this role will forge new partnerships that build on the inspiring work we have developed in the areas of livelihoods, peacebuilding, forced migration, protection and gender justice. Working with major institutional donors, the Faith Partnership Advisor will form part of a collaborative team and manage the bid process from inception to submission on new programme initiatives. Specifically, the Faith Partnership Adviser will capitalise on the organisation’s faith-based approach to development. The Faith Partnership Advisor is expected to have extensive experience preparing bids which have a faith dimension to them, centred on the added value of Islamic Relief as a faith-based organisation and the industry’s need to have faith centric development and humanitarian approaches.

The successful candidate must have:

• A graduate degree or equivalent experience in development/humanitarian areas
• An in-depth understanding of international development issues
• An exceptional understanding of the principles of Islamic jurisprudence and Islamic teaching, particularly pertaining to aid and development issues
• An awareness of the various funding mechanism that are available within the industry
• Exceptional command of English with the ability to edit, summarise and compile information quickly and often within short time frames
• An ability to speak publicly and communicate confidently within groups
• An ability to lead working groups and plan strategically
• Expert knowledge of Microsoft Word and being versed with PowerPoint and Excel
• Track record of working in a similar role with an International NGO essential
• Proven ability to secure funding for Faith Partnerships
• Must have substantial experience of having worked on successful bids/partnerships which have a faith dimension
• Well versed and with proven capabilities of understanding the faith dimension of international development and humanitarian interventions.
• Demonstrated experience of working on multiple bids with various institutional donors
• Ability to work extensively with a team and or on their own
• Knowledge of the key critical areas impacting the international development sector, including awareness of SDGs, faith-based initiatives, CHS, Humanitarian principles etc.

This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious self-starter who wants to be a part of a team that is working to take the charity to its next level of growth and development. We are looking for someone to join the Senior Leadership Team who will bring experience from their past successes and provide inspirational strategic leadership and direction to the fundraising and communications functions in support of our 5-year vision and charitable mission and objectives.

You will have a strong, successful track record of fundraising and/or other forms of income generating in the charity sector, including management, with proven experience in meeting financial and non-financial targets. You should be able to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, corporate, major donors and other individuals. In addition, you should have a strong knowledge of marketing and communications principles and practice, digital marketing, and social media, and be confident in engaging audience sensitively with real-life stories to demonstrate impact and create a compelling case for support.

For the first month the successful candidate would work from the central office but ultimately the role is hybrid with an expectation that while the Director will be in the office for at least two days a week, the remaining time can be worked remotely if desired.

Brain tumours kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer, yet historically just 1% of the national spend on cancer research has been allocated to this devastating disease. Brain Tumour Research is determined to change this. 

Their vision is to find a cure for all types of brain tumours. To achieve their mission, they are looking for a Head of Philanthropy and Partnerships to lead the high value function, including income from major donors, corporate partners, and trusts and grants. The P&P team also encompasses volunteering and relationships held with the family of member charities.  

There is currently an interim Head of P&P in place until August to ensure progress continues towards the income ambition, and to support the team.  

The P&P function is on a journey, much work has been done to embed effective processes and a consistent approach to pipelining. There has been much improvement so far, but there remains a lot of scope for the incoming Head to shape the team, define areas of focus and ways of working.  

The team have had significant success this year, especially in the corporate partnerships space, so there is energy and enthusiasm to harness. There are exciting opportunities for high value fundraising connected to the launch of new Centres of Excellence across the UK, and some key events in the calendar such as a major donor dinner in September.  

This role would suit an experienced fundraiser across major donor or corporate income streams. You will have led a team before, and have experience of designing and delivering fundraising strategies.  

This is an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to come into a team that is on the right path, but needs a confident Head of to ensure the team works in the most effective way, and to provide support and guidance to the team.

Pay and conditions

Specific responsibilities

An applicant appointed to the role will be expected to:

• Be responsible for curating CSE's social media content calendar. With support from digital comms manager, produce engaging content and ensure CSE’s social channels reflect our strategic goals.
• Create engaging multimedia digital content for websites, social media and our e-newsletter including written copy (blogs, news stories, content pages), video, and graphics using Canva and Adobe Creative Cloud.
• Lead on producing video content to promote CSE’s work, including planning, filming, and editing content using Premier Pro.
• Maintain CSE’s video library, including our internal folders, processes, and YouTube channel.
• Support the Senior Communications and Brand Manager to develop CSE’s suite of branded content. This includes creating branded templates for colleagues to use as well as designing digital and print materials for projects.
• With support from the wider comms team, ensure our online presence including website, social media, email marketing and digital advertising reflects strategic goals.
• Support the day-to-day management of CSE’s website, including uploading and editing content.
• Support the digital communications manager with digital channel optimisation including PPC, SEO, social media (paid and organic) as well as re-designing pages to enhance user experience (UX).
• Commission external videographers and photographers when appropriate, dictated by project and business needs.
• Responsible for producing CSE’s monthly e-news with support from the comms team to ensure CSE’s key work is promoted to external stakeholders.
• Regularly track digital metrics and analyse performance data to optimise messaging and strategies and responsibility for monthly reporting.

Essential attributes for this role include:

Key Skills & Experience:

• Qualified accountant (CCAB, CIMA, ACCA, or ACA) with extensive post-qualification experience.
• Proven finance leadership experience in a complex international organisation, ideally in the INGO sector.
• Experience managing multi-entity, multi-currency financial operations.
• Strong technical accounting knowledge, including UK Charity SORP FRS 102.
• Experience with donor reporting, grant management, and compliance.
• Demonstrated success in leading and developing dispersed international finance teams.

WHO WE ARE

Animal Equality is an international animal protection organisation working with society, governments and companies to end cruelty to farmed animals. Animal Equality has offices in the United Kingdom, United States, Germany, Italy, Spain, Mexico, Brazil and India.

Animal Equality releases investigative materials captured from inside factory farms and slaughterhouses, exposing the conditions that farmed animals face around the world. The Philanthropy Specialist plays a major role in meeting the organisation’s ambitious fundraising goals. Responsible for major giving and grants portfolios, the Philanthropy Specialist identifies, cultivates, solicits and stewards financial support from generous individuals and granting bodies.

The Spear Assistant Coach will work as part of the River Church staff team, alongside the Centre Manager to deliver the Spear Programme, equipping and empowering 16-24 year olds to overcome barriers to employment and turn their lives around by moving into sustainable work or further education.

The important stuff 

Salary: £25,000 pro-rata

Hours: 9.30am – 5.30pm, 3-4 days a week, between Monday and Thursday, with occasional evening working required (for events such as termly Spear Celebration evenings)

Key Responsibilities 

Spear Programme

• Lead group sessions of up to 10 young people, using coaching skills to transform their mindsets, and to maximise their potential in stepping into the world of work.
• Prepare and deliver coaching sessions on a weekly basis and find creative ways of developing ongoing relationships with Spear trainees. This includes running application workshops with past trainees as well as maintaining records and reporting on statistics. 

Relationship Management

• Build and manage relationships with a variety of stakeholders, including referrers, local businesses, and other organisations.
• You will support with job fairs, mock interview days and welcoming external visitors to the centre.

Church Community

• The Assistant Coach is directly employed by River Church, though it is not a requirement of the role for the successful candidate to join River Church as their worshipping community if they are already part of another local church
• Help to raise the profile of the Spear programme within River Church and build a network of supporters and volunteers from the congregation.

This role will suit you if you are:

• An active Christian, able to personally represent the values and beliefs of Resurgo and River Church, Ipswich.
• Passion for social justice and for working as part of the church to transform communities, especially supporting young people in employment or education.
• Confident communication and interpersonal skills, both over telephone and face to face; particularly a confidence in group facilitation.
• A commitment to grow and learn as a Christian leader, and a desire to learn and understand coaching techniques.

The Chartered Institute for Archaeologists (CIfA) is the professional home for archaeologists in the UK and overseas. We set high standards and benchmark good practice in archaeology to inspire trust in, and respect for, the profession of archaeology. As well as providing training and networks for over 4000 members, we develop and deliver regulated qualifications, accredit undergraduate degree programmes in archaeology and undertake a range of funded projects aimed at supporting the archaeology sector.

We are a fully remote organisation with home-based staff located across the UK. We work collaboratively online using MS Teams, with regular one-to-one, team and project meetings. 

We are looking for a focussed and self-motivated individual to provide administrative support across the professional skills and standards areas of our work. You will have excellent organisational and administrative skills, good attention to detail and be confident communicating with stakeholders in a customer facing role. You will be familiar with a range of IT systems, particularly Office365 and be confident using databases and spreadsheets.

The Role

In leading a department within Church House, which largely comprises of the church buildings team and governance functions, you will be blessed with a highly skilled group of people.  You will have the opportunity to lead and guide them and to make a significant contribution to the life of the diocese through being part of the Bishop’s senior team and heads of department group, and deputising as required for the Diocesan Secretary.

About You

You will have well-honed skills in leadership and governance, and ideally also project management.  You will have very strong communication and interpersonal skills, with high attention to detail, and will have operated at a senior level in a complex organisation.  You will be self-motivated and have a real interest in the very diverse work of the diocese as it seeks to support over 800 church communities and to carry out strategic work as determined through our governance structures.
