You will develop and maintain systems to manage Macmillan's external networks and ensure effective, accessible management of up-to-date documents, resources, tools, and templates for colleagues. Please note: this is a part-time role, working 21 hours across 3 days per week. Action on Disability (AoD), founded in 1979, is one of London’s leading Disabled People’s Organisations. The Post

The Investigation Panel (IP)

The Architects Registration Board (ARB) is the is the statutory regulator of architects in the UK, under the terms of the Architects Act 1997. The role of the Investigations Panel (IP) is to investigate allegations of unacceptable professional conduct or serious professional incompetence against architects and decide whether there is a case to answer at the Professional Conduct Committee. Each IP has three members, one architect and two lay. The Investigation Panels make decisions at the conclusion of the investigation.

We are looking for candidates that have an interest in professional regulation, have worked in committee settings or working groups are able to work through complex and voluminous information and work as a team to reach outcomes. Architects must be registered with ARB.

This can include partnering with external employers for employment opportunities, liaising with colleges for courses and upskilling opportunities, or community based projects which residents can get involved in. The role is dynamic and you can put your own ideas forward to bring new ideas to the team to help support our residents have access to wider resources. You will work closely with the rest of the care and support teams to enhance the opportunities available to our residents. 

You will work directly with our residents to support them to overcome their personal barriers and challenges to achieve positive outcomes. You will do this through one to one support sessions, group sessions and activities, and general support with their daily living.

The role further includes:

• Plan and deliver various activities which includes within the service and outside in the local community to help gain a sense of community and belonging. This can include days out to museums, community events and other areas of interest by our residents
• Plan in service events to bring residents together which could include group cooking sessions, games days, sporting events, and religious festivals.
• Keeping support plans up to date using our online portal
• Carrying out housing management support including welfare benefits support

About you

We're looking for someone who has a true passion to support those who face challenges with their mental health and that may have substance dependency. You will be able to build rapport and trusting relations in a professional setting, and able to build positive outcomes. You will be creative in your approach to find new ways to bring people together to gain a sense of community and belonging through various events and activities both in house and externally. You will have an adaptable and flexible approach to helping others, with an understanding that each individual has different levels and types of support needs. 

You will have an understanding and ability to help others overcome their personal barriers, and will be motivated to want to make a difference to people's lives. This is a fulfilling role, and is the perfect fit for someone who has a real passion in helping others. You will have:

• Awareness of external opportunities which are available such as with education, employment and benefits
• Experience working with people with multiple and complex needs, ideally in mental health
• Ability to show empathy and compassion to our residents, and different challenges they face
• Ability  to motivate, and empower others to achieve their personal goals and overcome barriers
• IT ability to use our online CRM systems and Microsoft programs daily
• Understanding of the different needs people with multiple and complex needs have and be aware of the social marginalisation that can be attached to people who face personal challenges

  • best practice, policy guidance, people management or people change initiatives,
• Has performed their role within a medium or large corporate business either private or public sector.
• Experience of creating content for and delivering presentations. 
• Experienced in the evaluation of qualitative and quantitative data and creating detailed reports on findings including recommendations.

Room to Heal is an established therapeutic community in London. We support refugees and people seeking asylum, many of whom are torture survivors, through an integrated programme of therapeutic and casework assistance, in the context of a community of survivors. Our approach recognises the political context of our community members’ multiple and ongoing experiences of trauma and marginalisation including in their home country, on their journey to, and within, the UK. We offer long term and holistic support.

We are looking for a Co-Director who:

• Will ensure the overall financial sustainability of the charity through development of the fundraising strategy and oversight of its implementation
• Understands the experiences of our members in order to sustain Room to Heal’s therapeutic community and ensure the safety and appropriateness of all of our services
• Has awareness and interest in psychotherapy and group work
• Makes strategic decisions that centre the experience of refugees and people seeking asylum alongside maintaining the sustainability of the organisation
• Has the drive, care and vision to create new opportunities to support refugees and people seeking asylum and to learn and share experiences through external networks and partnerships in the UK and internationally
• Is able to speak with authenticity and challenge injustices knowing directly what the impact is due to own lived experience
• Can lead by consensus and collaboration and has a strong belief in the therapeutic benefits of community.

The role is a key part of the Doctors of the World (DOTW) UK Policy and Advocacy team, contributing to the implementation of our three-year strategy and maximising the impact of our policy and advocacy function. The team focuses on influencing UK health and migration policy, improving access to NHS services for minoritised communities and populations and strengthening the right to health in the UK.

The post holder will play a critical role in ensuring DOTW UK’s advocacy and influencing work is informed by our service users’ experiences and seeks to bring about the changes they want to see. To this end, the role will lead work with DOTWs expert by experience group, liaising and coordinating different engagement activities, identifying co-production opportunities and supporting members of the group to meaningfully participate in the organisation’s advocacy work and drive change.
