• Charity Set Up: To assist in the set up of SUNSHINE, including leading on the registration with the charity commission, setting up HMRC accounts and other tasks that will support the set up and launch of SUNSHINE.

We're looking for organised and enthusiastic individuals to join us at Urban Youth as a Volunteer in a Remote Role, supporting our Back Office functions, where you will play a crucial role in supporting our mission to make a meaningful impact on young people’s lives across London.

What Help We Need?

1. Administration

• Keeping accurate records of participants and activities.

• Managing schedules for events, sessions, and staff/volunteers.

• Preparing budgets and monitoring expenses.

• Maintaining compliance with legal and regulatory standards.

2. Human Resources or Volunteer Coordination 

• Recruitment and training of volunteers.

• Managing HR-related documentation (e.g., agreements, DBS checks, policies).

• Providing ongoing support and development for team members.

3. Training and Development

• Offering youth work training to ensure volunteers understand best practices in working with young people.

• Delivering workshops on communication, conflict resolution, code of conduct and safeguarding.

• Providing continuous learning opportunities, such as leadership and mentoring programmes.

4. Marketing and Communications

• Promoting Urban Youth through social media, newsletters, and local partnerships.

• Designing materials (flyers, posters, etc.) to attract members and supporters.

• Maintaining our website to communicate our mission, events, and achievements.

5. Fundraising and Finance

• Sourcing grants and donations.

• Organising fundraising events.

• Keeping financial records and preparing annual reports for donors and stakeholders.

6. Technology and Data Management

• Implementing software for participant tracking, event management, and communication.

• Maintaining a secure database for storing sensitive information.

• Using tools to measure impact and generate reports.

7. Safeguarding

• Developing policies to ensure the safety of young people in our care.

• Training volunteers on safeguarding practices.

• Conducting regular risk assessments.

8. Operational Support

• Managing physical spaces, equipment, and supplies.

• Ensuring facilities meet health and safety standards.

• Establishing contingency plans for unexpected challenges.

Who they are

To promote and encourage, for the benefit of the public, the improvement, protection, and preservation of the countryside of North and East Yorkshire, including its towns and villages, and the better development of the rural environment.

The role Introduction

Do you care about the future of the countryside in North and East Yorkshire? Do you have skills and experience in policy development in or for Local Authorities that you could bring to their work? CPRE North and East Yorkshire are looking for a Trustee and Local Authority Communications Lead to contribute to their important work protecting the beautiful local countryside and green spaces.

Who they are

CPRE campaigns nationally and locally for positive solutions that safeguard the long-term future of the precious countryside, which is facing multiple threats. At the national level, the charity produces in-depth research and sound arguments to press government, Parliament, and other decision-makers to support the countryside, be it national landscapes or much-loved local green spaces, through policies that ensure:

Active support to improve biodiversity

Countryside protection from climate change impacts and contribution to climate change solutions.

Here in North and East Yorkshire, the largest of the CPRE regions (6,900 square miles!), they have a successful track record of enabling residents and community groups to help shape development in ways that enrich the countryside around them. They also use their planning expertise to proactively campaign for local authority planning policies that safeguard and enhance the beautiful and varied landscapes.

The role

Their small but energetic team of volunteer Trustees enables people to protect the countryside they love and enjoy the benefits it brings wherever they live. But with your support, they can do even more! In joining them as a Trustee on the Board, you’ll have a general role in developing the charity in line with their strategy and, together with other Trustees, ensuring compliance with Charity Commission and other legal and governance regulations. However, additionally, as their Lead for Local Authority Communications, you will use your particular knowledge of policy development in this arena to inform and guide the Trustee Board on Local Authority campaigning and coordinate and drive forward related activities to meet agreed aims.

+Trustees initially serve a three-year term and may serve up to six years in total.

What they need and what’s in it for you

You don’t need to have prior Trustee experience, but they are looking for applicants with manager/senior-level experience in policy development in Local Authorities and/or as policy advisors to Local Authorities. By volunteering with them, you’ll be using what you know to help find positive solutions for the major issues facing the countryside and the environment, as well as being part of a group of people who share your passion for the countryside. Their friendly team will provide you with initial training and support to develop in your role. You’ll gain valuable skills and experience in charity governance and leadership.

NACE is the UK’s leading charity that supports and champions the education of more able learners. With over 40 years of experience, NACE works with a diverse network of member schools, leaders in education and practitioners to increase challenge for all learners. We believe that that all young people, including the more able, are entitled to have the opportunity to develop their abilities without limits – no matter what barriers to learning they may face and no matter what school they attend.  

To support us in developing our strategic objectives and advancing our plans for the future, we are seeking new Trustees to join NACE’s Board with a passion for public service and sufficient time at their disposal to help us positively impact the lives of young people. Whilst an interest in or knowledge of education is desirable, it is not a pre-requisite. The role includes holding the executive leaders of NACE to account, plus agreeing and overseeing the strategic direction of the organisation whilst ensuring that resources are deployed to achieve maximum effectiveness.

The general responsibilities of trustees:

• Ensure that the Association complies with its governing document, charity law, company law and any other relevant legislation or regulations.

• Ensure that the Association pursues its objects as defined in its governing document.

• Ensure the Association applies its resources exclusively in pursuance of its objects.

• Contribute actively to the Board of Trustees' role in giving firm strategic direction to the Association, setting overall policy, defining goals and setting targets, and evaluating performance against agreed targets.

• Safeguard the good name and values of the Association.

• Ensure the effective and efficient administration of the Association.

• Seek to ensure the financial stability of the Association.

In addition to these statutory duties, each Trustee should use any specific skills, knowledge or experience they have to help the Board of Trustees reach sound decisions. This may involve:

Scrutinising board papers; Leading discussions; Focusing on key issues; Providing guidance on new initiatives; Other issues in which the Trustee has specialist expertise.

Terms of appointment

The initial term is for a period of three years.

The maximum term of office for a Trustee should be nine years, with two cycles of three years and then the option of a further one, two or three years. 

The Trustees meet four times each year as a Board. Three of these meetings are now held online, in September, November and March. The final meeting of the academic year is held in-person in June.

The interview process will involve current Board members so you will have the opportunity to meet some of the people with whom you could be working in the future.

 The Fundraising Coordinator will plan and oversee fundraising initiatives to generate financial support for Light Up Children’s projects.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and execute creative fundraising campaigns.

• Organise community events, online fundraising drives, and corporate partnerships.

• Engage with donors and supporters to encourage long-term giving.

• Track fundraising progress and ensure compliance with charity regulations.

• Work closely with the Grants Officer and Communications team to maximise fundraising efforts.

Ideal Candidate:

• Passion for fundraising and charity work.

• Experience in event planning, corporate sponsorships, or online fundraising (preferred but not required).

About Vibes in Care (ViC)

Vibes in Care CIC is a newly forming Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) dedicated to amplifying the voices of children and young people who are care-experienced or at risk. By harnessing insights from lived experience, we develop training, workshops, and advocacy initiatives that reshape professional practices within the care sector.

• HR & Governance: Ability to guide policy setting, recruitment, and staff/volunteer support.
