BCYP has historically been very successful in raising funds from non-statutory sources, particularly trusts and foundations, and is grateful to hold a number of established relationships with grant-makers. We work hard to ensure that we submit excellent, data-driven applications and evaluations. Until now, applications have largely been submitted by our Fundraising Manager- Trusts & Foundations, with occasional support from a freelance bid-writer. We now want to recruit a new member of the team, to help us to grow our income stream in this area and help us to steward these key relationships.
In this exciting new role, you will play a key part in growing and sustaining our income from trusts and foundations. Your responsibilities will include identifying funding opportunities and potential grant-makers, designing and developing compelling funding proposals, promoting these opportunities, and managing relationships with supporters throughout the entire funding cycle.
We’re looking for someone with energy, motivation, and experience to be able to make an instant and vital impact on the organisation; someone who can understand the big picture, has good attention to detail and can make things happen. The successful candidate is expected to be a fundraiser with at three years of experience in identifying trust and foundation prospects and writing proposals, and who has a track record of success in securing funds. Vitally, we want to recruit an individual who is as committed to Brent’s vision, and who will work with us to help us be there for young people in the coming years.

As the Bid Writer and Manager, you will be responsible for leading on and supporting with bid writing for the charity's needs. This will include bids and applications to trusts and foundations and tenders for statutory funding. Focusing on five-figure applications and bids, as well as supporting the Head of Insight with six-figure applications, this is an opportunity to grow your portfolio and support key health and wellbeing services.
To be successful as the Bid Writer and Manager, you will have experience in writing bids to trusts and foundations to secure five or six-figure grants. This person will need to have strong writing skills and be able to work both autonomously and as a part of a small team. Ideally this person will have some knowledge and experience of researching new prospective trusts and foundations.
This role is a part-time contract position of 21 hours per week and an initial 6-month contract. The salary for this role is £42,000 FTE and will ideally have one day per week in their London office.

We are seeking a skilled Bid Manager and Proposal Writer to join our dynamic Bid Team within the Development, Marketing, and Communications Department at Social Interest Group (SIG). This role is key to driving our growth and enhancing the delivery of our vital services.
As Bid Manager and Proposal Writer, you will lead competitive tendering processes, craft compelling bids and proposals, and provide strategic insight into market trends to guide organisational development. You will also play a pivotal role in producing high-quality proposals that clearly articulate our vision, services, and value to commissioners and funders.
Working collaboratively with internal teams, you will identify funding opportunities, develop high-quality submissions, and ensure our proposals align with both national policies and the needs of local communities.

What are we looking for?
- Previous experience in a similar role with responsibilities such as securing new bids and/or retaining existing contracts.
- Demonstrated expertise in bid and proposal writing, including reviewing and editing content.
- Proficiency with IT systems, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, and the ability to quickly learn new software programs.
- A keen eye for detail and the ability to create engaging, high-quality content, with strong proofreading skills.
- Strong project management skills, including the ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with tender portals and the ability to navigate them efficiently.
- Willingness to travel to attend market engagement events and service visits for a deeper understanding of SIG's offerings.
- Research skills to review and synthesise large amounts of information, informing model development and shaping tender responses.

Head of Fundraising - Major Gifts
Hours: 37.5 per week. Flexibility will be considered working a minimum of 30 hours per week (0.8 full time equivalent). Salary and holiday will be adjusted accordingly.
Location: Hybrid / Wonderseekers HQ, Eastleigh with regular attendance at Winchester Science Centre, Winchester. For the right person we’re willing to consider flexible working whereby the postholder could work up to two days per week from home. The Role
To deliver on our new strategy and exciting capital and activity Masterplan, Wonderseekers is growing its Fundraising Team. The Head of Major Gifts is a pivotal new role within this team: working closely with the Director of Fundraising and managing a small team of experienced Trusts & Foundations (T&F) fundraisers, to achieve an initial target of circa £3.5 million within the next two years.
Accomplished at assimilating and interpreting complex information to craft compelling, high-level funding proposals, the post holder will lead and coordinate project fundraising campaigns to achieve the individual project targets, ensuring the highest quality of funding approach and donor stewardship across the Major Gifts Team.
In addition to managing and supporting the in-house T&F Managers and freelance T&F fundraisers to secure five and six figure grants, the post holder will develop and manage their own portfolio of major T&Fs and high net worth individual (HNWI) donors contributing circa £1 million towards the overall initial target. This is an exciting opportunity for a senior fundraiser to become an influential member of the Charity’s Leadership Team. Following achievement of the initial target, the Head of Major Gifts will play a strategic role in designing and implementing future fundraising campaigns (for “business as usual” and special projects) to support the Charity’s strategic plan and maximise its social impact.

Mary Dinah Foundation (“MDF”) is the largest NGO in the world preventing malnutrition in local communities through the distribution of specialized nutritious foods. The Foundation provides emergency food relief and water sanitation, improves access to healthcare for infants and pregnant women, protects women and girls from gender-based violence, enhances education for refugees, and offers mental health support to individuals affected by conflict-induced displacement. As recipients of ongoing multi-million-dollar grants, we are at an exciting juncture and are seeking an experienced and driven Business Development Lead with a solid track record in personally securing 6 – 7 figure grants from new donors, whether government, institutional, INGOs, and/or large trusts and foundations, to join our team. This role is on track to Chief Operating Officer (COO), contingent on exceptional performance and results.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a proven ability to:
- Conduct prospect research to identify and qualify high-quality new donor leads for MDF and proactively track and respond to large funding opportunities and RFPs, helping us continuously build and enhance our prospect pipeline.
- Carry out detailed research and mappings to identify existing links with potential donors, whether through our leadership, Board, donors, etc., and recommend pathways to relationship building.
- Lead and manage the full proposal development process - from identification of the funding opportunity and detailed review of eligibility/suitability to assess our likelihood of success, through to creating buy-in around responsibilities and timelines, motivating and organizing internal stakeholders, guiding players through every step in the proposal process, gathering inputs from technical leads, working with finance teams on budget development, creating supplementary materials, to rolling up your sleeves and writing the proposal and supporting documents as required (Theories of Change, Risk Matrices, Log Frames, etc.).
- Deliver significant funding from new donors (candidates will be expected to show evidence of winning funding of a minimum of 6 figures).
- Create high-quality fundraising materials tailored to the needs of specific donor audiences (e.g., concept notes, slide decks, etc.)
About You
You have a deep passion for using your skills in leveraging funding to make the world a better, more equitable place, and an ability to balance big picture, strategic thinking, and design with getting tangible activities operationalized. Specifically:
- You are an exceptional writer, with an ability to produce compelling proposals tailored to the specific needs and interests of different donors. These might be technical, institutional bids requiring ToCs, logframes, etc., ‘Big Bet’ pitches relying on powerful storytelling, or applications to large foundations.
- Sitting within a growing team, you are nonetheless comfortable working autonomously (with the role being majority remote) while building the connections needed across our global team to get the information you need to raise funds for MDF.
- You are comfortable working in an organization that is fast-paced and experiencing significant growth. You show flexibility and resilience as structures, processes, and ways of working evolve.
- You are confident in managing competing priorities while meeting both internal and external deadlines and flexible enough to juggle your work where opportunities come in at the last minute.
- You are an excellent communicator, able to effectively tell our story and market our offerings in a compelling way, engaging partners and donors, and inspiring them to support MDF.
Experience and Eligibility Criteria
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a fundraising role(s), with a preference for experience in institutional, trust/foundation, and/or Big Bet philanthropy, and evidence of personal track record in bringing in new funding.
- Experience working for an international development NGO is desirable, particularly in the space of Nutrition, Maternal and Infant Health, SGBV, and/or women and girls’ rights more broadly.
- Willingness to join the team in the local office ideally one day per week and for occasional international travel (1-2 weeks per year).

The Rewards
At MDF, we believe in being open, especially when it comes to salaries. The gross salary brackets for this position are £40,000 - £60,000/year in the UK. We will offer you a salary in this bracket depending on your level of experience and how it relates to your future colleagues.
