About The Access Project
The Access Project is an education charity; we believe that every young person can make the most of education, unlocking their potential and creating a fairer society.
We support over 1,800 young people aged 14 to 18 across 40 schools. Our mission is to support students from under-resourced backgrounds to access top universities, through a unique combination of tuition and in-school mentoring. We work with them to make good applications, get the grades and transition to university.
We employ 70 people who work in locations in London, the Midlands, Yorkshire and the North West. We will turn over approximately £3.7 million in this financial year and our funding comes from a range of sources including: schools, businesses, major donors and grant-making trusts.
The programme combats educational inequality and improves social mobility by raising students’ grades and supporting them to understand the pathway to a top university. Students who receive support from our programme are almost twice as likely to attend top universities as statistically similar students, according to UCAS.

Why we need you
We are looking for an ambitious, experienced Head of Corporate Partnerships with a track record of winning, retaining, and developing high value partnerships.
The Access Project has established partnerships with leading companies who are committed to social mobility, equality, diversity and inclusion, and want to provide real impact for young people. We have a fantastic volunteer tutor programme at the heart of The Access Project which provides engagement opportunities for employees of corporate partners. We have identified corporate funding as one of our largest growth areas. This role will take a lead in developing and driving forward our business partnerships strategy.
The successful candidate will be passionate about levelling the playing field for disadvantaged young people in education. You will be an exceptional relationship builder and communicator, able to motivate companies to support our mission. You will be an experienced manager of people with the ability to build a supportive, creative and inspiring environment for the corporate partnerships function. You will contribute positively to the culture at The Access Project and work collaboratively with colleagues across the organisation to achieve our strategic goals.
What you’ll be responsible for
Leadership and management
- Working closely with the Fundraising and Communications Director to develop a corporate partnerships plan that focuses on the acquisition of corporate partnerships and excellent account management of existing partnerships, resulting in renewals and uplift in value.
- Leading, supporting and inspiring a team of two (Corporate Partnerships Manager and Fundraising Co-ordinator) to deliver the corporate partnerships strategy and individual giving strategy.
- Developing objectives and targets for the corporate partnerships team and ensuring accurate and timely reporting against these.
- Ensuring effective team use of Salesforce for relationship management, data management and providing information for financial reporting and audit purposes.
- Maintaining up-to-date knowledge and adherence to latest legislation, especially Fundraising legislation relating to corporate fundraising and best practice guidelines issued by the Fundraising Regulator, and GDPR.
New business development
- Periodically refreshing our corporate offer with creative ideas, proposals and content to inspire decision makers.
- Winning new business for The Access Project at the 5 and 6 figure level with support from the Director of Fundraising and Communications and the CEO/Executive team and Board.
- Managing the preparation and submission of major corporate partnership bids and coordinating internal teams to contribute effectively.
- Leading research and development to identify new fundraising opportunities.
- Ensuring high quality and inspiring communications and materials are produced in accordance with brand guidelines.
Account management and stewardship
- Delivering successful partnerships in your portfolio through excellent account management to maximise fundraising and volunteering potential and retain partners.
- Ensuring corporate partnerships are celebrated through working with Communications colleagues.
- Working collaboratively with the wider Fundraising Team, Volunteer Team, Programmes Team and other functions to deliver a fantastic partner experience and ensure an integrated and joined up approach.
Skills, knowledge and attitudes we’re looking for
- An impressive track-record in corporate fundraising. We will also consider exceptional candidates who have excelled in another field of fundraising, partnership management or sales or with a corporate background.
- Ability to work strategically, bringing others along with you, as well as being a hands-on fundraiser as part of a small team.

Job summary
The Business Development Manager (BDM) will work closely with the Chief Officer (CO) to grow the business activities of Headway Black Country (HBC).
The BDM's core purpose is to work with the CO, members of the Senior Management Team (SMT) and the Board of Trustees to identify and develop new business and funding opportunities, to enable HBC to meet our charitable objectives, specifically regarding the key themes of:
- Providing support: Offering practical advice, emotional support, and rehabilitation services to individuals who have experienced a brain injury, as well as their families and caregivers.
- Raising awareness: Increasing public understanding and awareness of brain injuries, their causes, and the impact they can have on individuals and their families.
- Promoting independence: Helping individuals with brain injuries to regain their independence, develop skills, and improve their quality of life through various programs and services.
You will provide support to the CO in the identification of opportunities, development, and submission of proposals, and managing the bid/tender processes from scoping through to implementation:
- To secure income from a range of sources to support the Strategic and Business Plans of Headway Black Country.
- To lead on the development of a range of new business opportunities.
- To build relationships with a range of key stakeholders to better position the organisation.
KEY TASKS
- Gain a full understanding of all areas of Headway Black Country to enable post-holder to identify and develop new opportunities.
- To undertake a market analysis to identify opportunities for growth, and to lead on the development of appropriate business products and services as agreed with the CO.
- To identify opportunities for service development through new funding streams, partnership, and commissioning opportunities.
- To lead on the management and preparation of funding bids, tenders, business proposals.
- Coordinate the implementation of agreed new projects and help to develop monitoring plans, and co-ordinating reporting arrangements.
- To develop positive relationships with a range of stakeholders providing funding to charities to raise awareness and promote HBC within the Region.
- Build relationships and partnerships and pursue funding avenues to realise new service activity in line with HBC charitable objectives.
- Implement and lead HBC Fundraising Committee and developing the organisation's funding strategy with the Chief Officer and Board of Trustees.
- Input into the website/ marketing materials to include new and potential development ideas.
- Collaborate and work as part of the management team on agreeing what Business Development Plans progress/ track and communicate progress and recommendations.
To be successful in this role you will:
- Possess a proven track record (2 to 3 years or more) of leading successful applications to grant makers and charitable trusts.
- Have experience in corporate fundraising and donor stewardship.
- Have experience of a broad variety of business/ fundraising opportunities relevant to the charitable sector.
- Have proven experience of developing and maintaining excellent relationships with key stakeholders to deliver tangible results.

- To attend appropriate training sessions and meetings, as required.
- To contribute to monitoring and audit procedures to assess and review the effectiveness of all services and the benefits to clients.
- To actively promote Headway Black Country, the services provided by the organisation, its mission statement, aims and objectives.

About the team
It’s an exciting time to be joining Shelter. There’s a lot of change happening following the launch of our new brand, which has re-positioned the organisation and set the base for us to tackle what has grown from a housing crisis to a national emergency. About the role
This is a great opportunity not only to see e-commerce in action, but to help deliver an e-commerce strategy, grow Shelter’s sales of second-hand goods and raise income to tackle the housing emergency. Anticipated timeframe: Short term consultancy, up to 45 person days to be worked between 1 August to 15 September 2024 Location:Ghana
The 'Strengthening Civil Society Representation of Women with Disabilities in Ghana' programme commenced in May 2024, and is a 2-year project funded by the European Union. The project aims to strengthen the capacity for Organisations of Persons with Disabilities (OPDs), and in particular, organisations of women with disabilities in the areas of management, communication, fundraising, coordination, advocacy, gender, climate change, networking and financial accountability.
Sightsavers will build the capacity of two OPDs Women with Disability Development and Advocacy Organisation (WODAO), and the ABAK Foundation. WODAO and the ABAK Foundation will then cascade capacity building downstream to members and partners to strengthen their ability to claim their rights and hold duty bearers to account.
Sightsavers will be commissioning a consultant to conduct a GESI analysis in the 33 project districts in the Bono, Bono East, Ashanti, Oti and Volta regions.
Methodology
Please provide details of proposed methodologies and timelines. The assessment will need to cover, but not be limited to:
- Analysis of secondary sources of data on the inclusion of women and girls and persons with disabilities in development interventions in the districts.
- Gathering and analysing primary source of data to map trends that highlight risk factors that impede the participation of women with disabilities. The analysis should seek to understand the root causes of gender inequalities in the project districts.
- Make informed conclusions about potential opportunities including stakeholders who the CSO can collaborate with in the districts.
Output and Deliverables
The consultant is expected to produce the following.
- Proposal outlining how the consultancy will be conducted, including data collection tools and the timelines for delivering the consultancy.
- Report of desk review and other methodologies used.
- Final report outlining gendered and disability barriers and vulnerabilities that need to be addressed and their root causes.
Timeline
The consultancy is expected to take up to 45 working days from 1 August to 15 September 2024.
Sightsavers will welcome expressions of interest from qualified independent evaluators or consultancy companies. An individual or team with members located in Ghana would be preferred.
Consultant's expertise
- Demonstrable previous experience in gender, disability inclusion, and women's rights.
- Proven record of conducting GESI analysis or similar assessments and able to provide examples of reports.
- Previous execution of several consultancies for international organisations or national development organisations required
- Robust skills related to monitoring, evaluation, and research.
Payment Terms
To be discussed at interview stage between Sightsavers and the Consultant/Consultancy.
Consultants with a proven track record in the above will be procured to undertake the project through an expression of interest process. Payment terms will be agreed between the Consultant and Sightsavers.

About the team
We’ve seen some incredibly significant changes in Shelter over the past four years, with a radical shift in our organisational strategy and the consequent need to change our ways of working fundamentally. Our Equity, Inclusion and Culture (EI&C) Directorate was formed to help us actively embrace diversity - in people, ideas and actions, with a focus on changing our internal culture and promoting equity. About the role
This is an exciting new role within our Internal Communications and Engagement team, reporting to the Head of Internal Communication and Engagement, you’ll be responsible for not only supporting Shelter in engaging people in our strategy and the work we do, but also helping to build and shape our organisational culture.
We’ll rely on you to contribute to the development of Shelter’s listening strategy as well as designing and managing a range of listening opportunities that can maximise upward communication. Working closely with stakeholders, you’ll evaluate effective employee engagement approaches, analysing and summarising staff feedback data to identify themes while making recommendations for action planning. Acting as a project manager for all of our employee engagement initiatives, you’ll proactively identify and address issues related to our employee engagement while providing the right solutions. About you
You’ll have experience of designing and delivering internal communications and engagement plans, as well as being able to implement a range of techniques to engage diverse audiences in organisational change. You’ll know what drives engagement, how to nurture strengths and deliver areas for improvement. What’s more, you’ll have knowledge about developing and integrating organisational values and behaviours and you’ll have experience of implementing listening strategies, including managing a framework of tools to capture views.

This role will also be responsible for enhancing the reach and value of legacy fundraising at SWWR and building strong relationships with corporate supporters to help secure the financial sustainability of the Charity.
Our Fundraising Manager is responsible for planning and preparing all fundraising and grants working alongside all departments to ensure projects are fulfilled from inception to fruition. The post holder takes care of medium- to long-term activities, budgeting, planning and strategy, as well as being responsive to emerging opportunities and adapting to change. The Fundraising Manager is also the main point of contact for new and existing supporters, providing support and stewardship to the amazing individuals and organisations who want to help wildlife.
Alongside the above, the Fundraising Manager will also provide support to the current fundraising personnel and activities at SWWR, coordinating and supporting a range of tasks and functions to aid in the smooth running of the Charity.

About the role:
A part of the Fundraising team, as Grants and Trusts Manager you will lead on gaining income from grant-making bodies. This is a newly created role for a Project Accountant to join a locally respected Not-for-Profit organisation in Uxbridge. This position has been created in recognition of the need to maximise grant funding, support applications, manage the financials (spend against budget) of a significant capital project as well as general capital expenditure. The role will support the Finance Director to develop/manage a rolling cashflow forecast for the projects.
This is an excellent opportunity to work closely with the Finance Director as well as senior leaders of the organisation to use your commercial acumen.
Detailed duties will include:
- Accurate accounting for all projects, including establishment of required project and/or account codes in finance system to record receipt of income and/or grant funding and budgeted spend.
- Notify stakeholders of receipt of funds and follow up status of project spend and completion.
- Review actual expenditure against budget on a regular basis and review and discuss variances with budget holders. Prepare draft funding claims and/or expenditure returns for submission to relevant authorities.
- Monitor and identify new opportunities for grant or other funding, provide assistance to relevant departments with preparing and submitting bids for funding.
- Business Partnering with non-finance managers in order to develop processes and the understanding of financial requirements
- Receive and log capital expenditure requests as part of the budget setting process, liaise with stakeholders to ensure all relevant information is received, advise on the status of requests, establish project codes if required and monitor spend against budget.
- Ensure procurement policies and processes are adhered to, including receipt of three quotes or formal tender process depending on the estimated value of the spend.
- Ensure actual capital expenditure is within approved budget, identify potential or actual cost overruns for review and consideration.
- Ensure all capital expenditure is recorded in the fixed asset register and depreciated in accordance with the rates set out in the Financial Regulations.
- Develop and maintain a rolling cashflow forecast to record expected receipt of funds and payment of capital and other project expenditure.
- Identify minimum and maximum cash requirements and assist in developing effective cash management strategy.
In order to be successful in the role, we are looking for experience of project accounting, to be able to set up and monitor budgets for specific projects. Ideally you will have experience of managing capital projects and/or research grants from an accounting perspective.
You will have a keen eye for detail, so that grant funding is set up correctly to be not only compliant but to maximise the spend. Working with a number of senior stakeholders, excellent communication skills are paramount.
