Working in the Procurement and Programme Management Office, the Project Support Officer role will provide administrative support to the delivery of the charity's portfolio of programme and projects and business operations activity

The Role
The Project Support Officer will provide administrative support to the charitys portfolio of programs and projects.
You will assist in the coordination of internal and external programs, applying effective project management methodologies.
The role involves supporting the commissioning process, including the creation of business cases and assessment of bids.
The Project Support Officer will also be responsible for contract management and evaluation of externally commissioned activities.
They will facilitate the involvement of people with Lived Experience of Gambling Harms in shaping the organisations work.
Secretariat support will be provided to advisory panels, program boards, and steering groups.
The role includes organising and delivering events, seminars, and workshops.
You will ill develop and maintain relationships with delivery partners and external stakeholders.

The Candidate
The essential knowledge and experience required for the role include understanding project management methodology, producing project documentation, providing customer care, and setting up processes.
The required skills and abilities include the ability to work on multiple projects, excellent IT skills, effective communication, and the ability to build strong relationships.
Desirable qualifications include PRINCE2, Agile Project Management, and Managing Successful Programmes.

JOB PURPOSE

The post holder will work with colleagues to develop, facilitate and manage a range of approaches and infrastructure that ensures local communities are shaping, influencing, co-producing and delivering local services. This includes but is not limited to the Community Voice Forum which connects into the Association’s Housing and Flourishing Community programmes, projects and initiatives. This role will be instrumental in establishing local groups and facilitating local networks, partnerships and formal consortia that are sustainable and deliver community services.

With a focus on community priorities across the North Locality, the role will help to secure funding from a range of sources, to further develop and enhance community infrastructure. This will include supporting and leading the development of bids, tenders, and seeking sponsorship.

Some Key Tasks & Responsibilities:-

· Implement the Community Voice and other community engagement and representative fora across North Birmingham.

· Populate and develop a scheduled plan for engagement events, sessions, and workshops; both in person and online as part of the development of the Community Voice Forum, and related.

· Work with the Head of Business and Development Manager and senior colleagues to incorporate the North Birmingham Economic Recovery (NB:ER) plan which integrates citizen forum, small groups network, digital hubs, health inequalities, social enterprise network and enterprise hub consultation.

· Develop networks of social enterprises, small groups, and community representatives, arranging regular meetings, reviewing the effectiveness of the groups and recommending improvements.

· Support Communication and Marketing colleagues to effectively promote community engagement initiatives and activities.

· Keeping all stakeholders informed and engaged ensuring strong relationships are built and sustained.

· Organising and co-ordinating all online and in person events, sessions and workshops, including venue booking, setting up, notes and follow up.

· Support the development of project concepts by researching and developing relationships and collaborative opportunities with local groups, including those funded through the Neighbourhood Network Scheme and the Shared Prosperity Fund.

We are looking for a motivated, experienced individual to lead our corporate fundraising and partnerships, and help develop our grants income, enabling us to expand our work engaging and empowering communities across Britain. You’ll also feed into our advice for members across the community rail movement, to help them develop their approach to fundraising at a grassroots level.

About this role

This new role sits within our People & Funding team, aiming to support income growth and diversification, and resilience across the community rail movement. It’s an exciting opportunity to join a proactive, innovative organisation championing a unique cause, and advance your fundraising career.

The role does not have any direct reports but will work closely with our senior leadership team, events & fundraising manager and member support team, in support of our funding strategy and objectives.

Main responsibilities

• Provide account management to existing and new corporate relationships, nurturing effective, lasting relationships that help community rail to deliver on its aims around community development, sustainable travel, and inclusion.
• Carry out prospect research to identify new corporate supporters and relevant grant streams, and be proactive in developing new leads and connections.
• Liaise with, listen and pitch to existing and new funding leads to: understand our common interests and opportunities for working together to benefit community rail; convey the value they can derive from working with us or upping their support; and secure their ongoing commitment. 
• Explore and develop joint grant bids by liaising with colleagues, our members and potential external partners to support grant applications that align with our strategic aims.
• Work cross-team and draw on member and partner insights to understand key funding needs and opportunities and create strong funding proposals and budgets in support of these.
• Work closely with the director of people and funding to develop our funding strategy and achieve success against our funding objectives.
• Help to build a strong fundraising culture and ethos across the organisation, and wider community rail movement, including feeding expert advice and input into our member support team, training and events.
• Participate and contribute to our wider work, in particular helping us to use key events and campaigns such as our Community Rail Awards, to support fundraising.
• Develop, monitor and maintain key systems and processes, such as effective funder reporting and review meetings, and monitoring and reporting on fundraising KPIs.

Skills, competencies and experience

1. Skills and experience in third sector fundraising, preferably including corporate fundraising, funder reporting and grants, along with a broad understanding of the full fundraising mix and confidence in identifying and developing new opportunities.
2. A demonstrable proactive approach to engaging with new and existing funders to set up and continually develop lasting relationships that support a cause.
3. Ability to prepare high-quality funding proposals/grant applications and reports, adapting the communication style for different audiences and stakeholders to maximise impact.
4. A skilled communicator (verbal and written) who can gather information and enthuse individuals both internally and externally.
5. The ability to effectively manage multiple and competing priorities to meet deadlines.
6. Appreciation of and commitment to community development, empowerment and sustainability, and the value of community engagement in relation to transport.
7. Excellent organisational skills with firm understanding of KPIs, targets, budgeting, and risk mitigation plans.
8. Proactive, positive and self-motivated, able to work on own initiative and inspire and enthuse others, and overcome hurdles to achieve results.

Other information

This post is home-based, but with some travel (including occasional overnight stays) for team meetings, events and external meetings. This is a permanent position and includes a probationary period of three months from the date of appointment. The main purpose of this role will be to provide clear, accurate and helpful retrofit and other related technical guidance in areas such as carbon foot-printing, building energy performance and renewable energy options to local and community organisations to help them tackle the climate emergency.

Pay and conditions

• The salary for the role will be £29,864 - £35,770.

Specific responsibilities

An applicant appointed to the role will be expected to:

• Deliver training to local and community stakeholders on topics such as carbon literacy, retrofit, renewables and energy efficiency.
•  Develop and strengthen tools, guidance and other materials for community organisations that help to increase their ability to deliver beneficial local retrofit initiatives.
•  Undertake basic retrofit assessments of domestic and non-domestic buildings and provide useful guidance and recommendations on potential improvements.
• Provide carbon auditing, and recommendations for decarbonisation plans for community businesses.
• Support community organisations to design and deliver capital investment projects, develop funding bids, business cases and project delivery plans.
• Support community organisations to plan and deliver wider community engagement processes that help to foster leadership, consent and action.
• Facilitate learning, networking, and sharing between local and community organisations, staff and volunteers.
• Support CSE’s fundraising activities and the development of new models and approaches for the provision of retrofit activities and services at the local and community scale.
• Provide administrative support for timely delivery of project activities, accurate record keeping and robust reporting.
• Champion to key stakeholders (such as local authorities and funders) the importance of community engagement and the roles which local and community organisations can play in catalysing and enabling the decarbonisation of local homes and community buildings.
• Foster collaboration and deepen relationships with partner organisations who are active and interested in supporting similar areas of work.

THE ROLE

As our first Fundraising Manager, you’ll have the opportunity to shape our fundraising strategy, with a particular emphasis on creativity and innovation. You’ll help us nurture our current donors and find creative ways to generate income from diverse revenue streams, so we can can continue to innovate as we develop our vital support to young people and grow our impact.

HOW CAN YOU HELP APART OF ME?

• Develop and regularly refresh our fundraising strategy and roadmap.
• Identify and nuture potential new partnerships and funding opportunities, building and implementing our corporate partnership strategy.
• Encourage private and corporate donations by collaborating with Marketing to create engaging and compelling content and collateral promoting Apart of Me.
• Lead on community fundraising efforts and other fundraising events.

Focus on Labour Exploitation (FLEX) is a research and policy organisation working towards an end to labour exploitation. FLEX seeks to achieve this vision through the prevention of labour abuses, protection of the rights of those affected or at risk of exploitation and by promoting best practice responses to labour exploitation through research and evidence-based advocacy. About the role:

In this role you will be a key part of FLEX’s policy team and responsible for leading on the implementation of FLEX’s Communications Strategy, ensuring that FLEX’s communications help progress our strategic aims. You will develop comms outputs and work with internal and external contacts to produce content and conduct strategic comms work. This role involves tracking analytics, maintaining relevant records, and working with the press and other media partners to reach our audiences. 

Key responsibilities:

Communications

• Lead on the implementation of FLEX Comms Strategy, tracking, measuring, and reporting on the effectiveness of the Charity’s communications channels.
• Liaise with team members and external colleagues, as relevant, to conduct strategic communications planning and work.

• Devise, draft and circulate external comms outputs (e.g. the FLEX’s newsletter) and explore new ways to communicate our messages to our audiences (e.g. regular mail-shots, google groups, etc.).
• Represent FLEX and act as first point of contact for press enquiries, provide background information to journalists on relevant areas, and signpost to relevant staff as per FLEX’s press protocol.
• Produce visual content using relevant software (e.g. Canva, Piktochart, etc.).
• Develop contact management systems and/or databases (e.g. dissemination lists, media contact lists, etc.).
• Undertake media monitoring of salient issues for the team and use this monitoring to identify opportunities and new contacts.

• Design, plan, and deliver comms activities against targets;

About the team

We specialise in emergency homelessness work, intensive support to children and families and people experiencing domestic abuse, and/or multiple disadvantage and have been providing housing advice and support to the people of Sheffield for over 20 years. We take a holistic approach to help people to deal with interrelated issues that can impact their ability to get and keep a home, so they can thrive within the community. These include high intensity support, legal representation, practical DIY assistance and specialist housing, employment training and welfare benefits advice. The clients we help have a range of issues include physical and mental health conditions, drug and alcohol use, income and money management and domestic abuse.

About the role

You will help clients to maintain independence and to thrive, by offering practical assistance, support, advice, advocacy, coaching and encouragement to enable households to resettle and to prevent homelessness. All our Support Workers hold a ‘caseload’ of households and are responsible for developing outcome focused support plans, managing any risks and continually assessing need. Shelter staff are highly knowledgeable and capable and we provide our staff with a range of training opportunities, in subjects such as: housing and homeless legislation; benefits and welfare; safeguarding and risk management.

About you

You will need a relevant background that includes experience of housing, homelessness and welfare benefits law and supporting people who are vulnerable and/or have multiple and complex needs. If you have experience of using case managements systems this is an advantage, but not essential. The role will need you to visit clients in their homes so you will need a valid driving licence and be willing to use your vehicle for work purposes - for which an essential car user allowance will be paid.

Changing Futures is a £64 million joint initiative by the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government and The National Lottery Community Fund. Its aim is for local organisations to work in partnership to improve support for people who are experiencing multiple disadvantage. Through Changing Futures in Greater Manchester, Shelter works in partnership with Greater Manchester Combined Authority, locality partnerships and other VCSE and community partners and we ensure lived experience is at the heart of design, delivery and systems change. At the same time, our Gaining Real Opportunities for Work (GROW) Campus focuses on support and development for two GROW Trainees, as well as influencing wider change around lived experience in the workforce and inclusive recruitment. About the role

As the 'Changing Futures' GROW Coordinator you will provide strategic oversight of GROW placements, working closely with the Changing Futures Innovation sites and the GMCA to provide support around inclusive recruitment and sharing best practice regarding employing people with lived experience of multiple disadvantages. You will co-ordinate the programme to ensure a high-quality traineeships and make sure that the structures and resources to facilitate traineeships are in place.

We will also rely on you to promote the programme to partners, funders and other audiences, so we can raise awareness of the value of employing people with lived experience and encourage more organisations to adopt the approach.  You will empower our Trainees to use their experiences to influence the design and delivery of the partnership by developing and maintaining learning pathways, ensuring the right wellbeing and development support is in place and that they have the right resources and training materials.

About you

We need someone with understanding and insight into how experiencing multiple disadvantage and social inequalities can affect people’s lives as well as experience of co-ordinating employment, training and education projects. Some people management experience, with an emphasis on relational approaches to partnership working and problem-solving abilities, will be needed as well as a proven ability to develop relationships internally and externally with a variety of stakeholders. You will act as an ambassador, encouraging, promoting and supporting the involvement of people with lived experience in the design and delivery of Shelter’s and our Partners work.

Main purpose of the role

- Provide leadership in delivering the Loveworks business plan in line with the overall Strategy

- Ensure that our beneficiaries and volunteers are at the heart of the Loveworks strategy and business plan.

- Ensure financial stability and growth of our operations and services to meet local needs

- Manage and develop staff (currently 4) and around 80 volunteers

- Oversee the operational running of the charity and provide holiday support

- Be responsible for Loveworks assets including warehouse, van and two allotment plots

- Increase awareness and impact of Loveworks through maintaining and building new relationships with corporates, funders and other partners

Main areas of responsibility:

· Strategy and business planning:

o Converting the strategy into an annual business plan

o Working with partners and Trustees to realise the benefits and impact of Loveworks in the community

· People management:

o Line management of up to 5 staff

o Build and maintain a vibrant volunteer community ensuring volunteers feel valued, supported and motivated to support Loveworks in a variety of roles.

o Ensure good practice, policies, procedures and appropriate training is in place for staff and volunteers.

· Operational management:

o Oversee the operational running of the charity, as delegated to the charity officers, ensuring the governance is fit for purpose and maintained.

o Manage and ensure maintenance and running of Loveworks assets including the warehouse, van and two allotments

· Budget management:

o Create and manage the overall budget as agreed with Trustee Treasurer

o Monthly and annual reporting

· Governance:

o Work with the Board of Trustees to ensure the charity commission governance requirements are operationally in place and maintained.

o Manage operational risk and health & safety across the charity.

· Stakeholder management:

o Relationship building e.g. agencies, schools, corporate organisations and fundraisers, developing and maintaining links with local community groups, organisations and businesses.

· Marketing and fundraising:

o Oversee the funding bids, grant applications, sponsorship campaigns and fundraising events.

• • Direct marketing content with support from Trustees and external resource when required.

As Loveworks is a small team of part-timers you will be required to perform the roles of other team members including food bank and warehouse support and processing, fundraising and other responsibilities during some periods.

About the role

30 hours per week over 4 or 5 days. 

As our Corporate and Community Partnerships Lead, within our Marketing and Communications team, you will be responsible for building and maintaining partnerships that increase income and diversify funding with local community organisations, businesses and other bodies.

This new position requires a dynamic self-starter with excellent communication and networking skills, capable of developing relationships that will support Action for Carers deliver services and support for unpaid carers. Engaging with a wide range of stakeholders you will drive fundraising efforts, community engagement, gifts in-kind, volunteer engagement and awareness raising.

Key responsibilities

• Develop a partnership engagement strategy that raises the profile of Action for Carers.
• Identify, cultivate, and maintain relationships with community and corporate partners that support fundraising, gifts-in-kind and volunteer engagement.
• Act as the primary point of contact for community and corporate partners.
• Explore and promote opportunities for sponsorship, donations and corporate giving.
• Support fundraising events and activities undertaken by community and corporate partners, groups and individuals.
• Support the finance manager to develop and write bids and grant applications for projects.
• Organise community outreach events, workshops, and information sessions to build relationships and encourage support.
• Represent the charity at networking events, conferences, and community forums to develop partnerships and promote Action for Carers.

About you

You must have:

• Experience working in community engagement, business development, or similar role.
• Experience in identifying, supporting and growing relationships with corporate partners and/or community groups
• Experience organising events and engagement activities.
• Knowledge of developing stakeholder engagement plans / strategies (preferably in the not-for-profit or charitable sectors).
• A confident in delivering engaging presentations and activities to diverse groups of stakeholders.
• An innovative approach to engaging partners and stakeholders with willingness to try new initiatives.
• An ability to work independently and manage own time, priorities and workload.

You will be able to base yourself at our  offices in Burpham, Guildford with the option of being home based for 1-2 days a week dependent on work pattern.

The primary role of the Finance Manager is to oversee and manage the finances of Energy Projects Plus including providing high quality management information and support to the Chief Executive and Trustees to ensure the strong financial performance of the charity.

You will also be responsible for the accurate production of monthly salary calculations, including HMRC payments, quarterly VAT calculations and returns to HMRC, production of annual accounts, and ensuring a fully compliant annual audit.

You will work with and be Line Manager to a part-time finance assistant, who is responsible for day-to-day entries into the charity’s QuickBooks finance system and arranging day-to-day payments to staff and external organisations.

You will be the main point of contact on behalf of the charity for all financial matters, including influencing future strategy and direction, liaising with the Chief Executive.

Your skills will include:

·A relevant accounting qualification e.g. CIMA with minimum 3 years post qualification experience.

·A proven track record in charity management and a good understanding of the environment in which charities operate.

·Strong computer skills, including advanced user standard for mainstream accountancy software and Microsoft suite software

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

1. Ensuring the effective running of the day-to-day financial operations in line with the charity’s financial policies and procedures and be the main point of contact for all enquiries regarding finance matters.

2. Income: ensuring timely, accurate recording and classification of all income on the charity’s QuickBooks system (including designated restricted funds); issuing sales invoices, including those for vatable sales; recording remittances, electronic banking transactions; carrying out the credit control function reporting potential bad debts to the Chief Executive.

3. Expenditure: ensuring appropriate authorisation is obtained for all expenditure; counterchecking all expenses claims for compliance with charity policy; ensuring accurate recording of expenditure on QuickBooks including correct cost code allocation; ensuring appropriate records of invoices and claims are filed appropriately.

4. Payroll: Liaising with the payroll service provider on a monthly basis to prepare input to salary calculations (new starters, leavers, adjustments etc) and countercheck payroll details from provider, arrange approval of figures, ensure pension and HMRC payments are made in compliance with requirements.

5. VAT return: calculating (including manual adjustments for irrecoverable VAT) and submitting quarterly VAT records, ensuring payment is made in compliance with requirements.

6. Management accounts: preparing monthly and quarterly management accounts, highlighting variances to budgets, liaising with Chief Executive in presenting to Trustees, and providing other financial information requested to inform strong financial management.

7. Annual accounts: preparing year-end accounts, processing year-end adjustments on QuickBooks, producing all supporting documentation required for annual external audit. Ensuring audited accounts are submitted to Charity Commission and Companies House before required deadlines.

8. Working with the Chief Executive to prepare the Trustees’ Annual Report in good time for approval by Trustees prior to inclusion in Annual Report and Financial Statement.

9. Maintaining and updating periodically the charity’s financial procedures policy.

As a Debt, Benefits and Money Adviser, you will provide a comprehensive community-based debt advice service to beneficiaries who are experiencing difficulties, advising on their legal position and all the suitable options available through a mixture of face-to-face, telephone and email interactions.

In addition, you will carry out income maximisation through identifying and advising on benefit entitlement, and the take up of appropriate benefits. There is an expectation you will also deliver specialist level welfare benefits casework including the preparation of written submissions and representation at appeal tribunals. To achieve this, full training and coaching is provided with an expectation to complete the training framework and sign off process within two years of appointment.

The role is home based with occasional travel required throughout Belfast and Northern Ireland. This includes travel to home visits and tribunal locations. In addition, travel to team meetings and training, usually in London, is required. We do cover travel expenses.

Living within the Belfast area or in commutable distance to the area is essential in being able to undertake this role.
