About the role

We have a unique and exciting opportunity for someone interested in gaining first-hand experience working on the frontlines of a fast-paced, guest-facing charity.
Sufra has always been #MoreThanAFoodbank, and this role is key to Sufra’s journey in trialling different methods of supporting residents. We are partnering with SALIENT, a team of researchers who are working with the public, partners from local and national government, food charities, community support teams, and the food industry on a range of food-related trials. In particular, they will be conducting a trial at Sufra where a range of different support is offered to Food Bank guests. The aim of the trial is to assess the impact of these different methods, and hopefully come closer to learning what support our guests prefer to receive from our food bank service.
The ideal candidate will work well in a busy environment and will have great people skills. They will have some experience in a customer-facing role, dealing with the public and potentially vulnerable individuals. The successful candidate will be the first point of contact for members that register with the pilot project and will be confident answering queries confidently speaking about the trial. The candidate will work closely with the Food Aid Manager and SALIENT researchers to ensure accurate data tracking once participants are registered, including collating receipts, supporting with feedback interviews, capturing case studies and logging visits. The role will also include supporting the distribution of both parcels and vouchers and ensuring meticulous financial records of this are kept.
People skills are crucial to success in this role, as the successful candidate will be working alongside a range of people, ensuring that they are supported throughout the trial. Due to the diverse nature of Sufra guests, it would be beneficial for this candidate to speak Arabic, Somali, Farsi, or another community language.

Role Description
Supporting the smooth running of the SALIENT Food Trial, conducted at Sufra NW London. Supporting across the trial, focussing on participant recruitment, distributing different support methods and maintaining data throughout the trial. We hope to have this candidate in place by mid-August.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
Guest Recruitment
• Sharing information about the research trial
• Leading the recruitment of the trial, checking guest eligibility and contacting Sufra Food Bank guests and clearly communicating the trial in a non-biased and informative manner.
• Answering queries and concerns from Sufra guests and current participants and obtain consent to share data with researchers.
• Anonymising data sets for sharing with researchers.
• Creating awareness of the study amongst Sufra Foodbank volunteers through briefings, sharing links to the study video and information sheets so they are informed of how the study will operate.
Pilot data collection and tracking
• Work alongside SALIENT researchers to maintain a dataset to track participation in research.
• Distributing different methods of support for participants, during usual Food Bank collection hours.
• Implementing financial tracking of transactions made, and ensuring all financial monitoring is up to date and accurate.
• Exploring methods to reengage and support participants with low attendance.
Other Duties
• Joining staff meetings once a month and updating the wider team on the progress of the trial.
• Ensuring that our health and safety protocols and policies and procedures are adhered to.
• Ensuring that the service reflects the ethos, values and core principles of the charity and oversee the project’s development, so it is continuously and sustainably meeting community needs as they evolve.
• Attending regular supervisions with your line manager and staff meetings with the wider team.
• Undertaking any other reasonable duties to support the operations of the charity.

As a Wellbeing Practitioner you will provide flexible, responsive, and bespoke mental health and wellbeing support to UASC young people.
Location: The role will be primarily based in Arnold, however there will also be travel across Nottinghamshire and potentially further afield depending on the needs of the service.
The successful candidate's must haves:
- A relevant qualification (Diploma Level)
- Evidence of continuing professional development in a field relevant to Children and Young Person mental health.
- Experience in supporting children and young people in Person Centred Therapy, Integrative, Behavioural, EMDR or Counselling.
- An understanding of legislation and policies in relation to Safeguarding young people.
- Experience of offering mental health support, consultation and interventions to young people.
Desirable:
- Registration with a Professional Body such as BACP, HCPC, UKCP or NMC
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Provide support and guidance on mental health issues.
- Provide support to a young person which may involve support to attend a GP appointment or more intensive support ‘bridging the gap' between Children's and Adult's Mental Health Services.
- Provide flexible, responsive and bespoke mental health & wellbeing support to UASC young people from their arrival in Nottinghamshire, usually from the age of 14 to 25.

The suite of services under Nottingham Legacy includes Time 2 Talk, which involves Wellbeing Practitioners embedded within the Leaving Care teams of Nottingham City and Nottinghamshire County Councils. This new post working with UASC will be part of this larger team.
The UASC team support young people who may have travelled voluntarily or have been trafficked from their home country to move to the UK. Their experiences will vary greatly depending on the challenges of their journey, their reasons for leaving their home country and how they are adapting to life in the UK.

About RLS
RLS is a UK charity and a non-profit company in Greece (AMKE).
Refugee Legal Support works in solidarity with people who migrate. We operate in the UK, France and Greece, promoting and protecting rights through legal support, casework, litigation, engagement, training and partnerships. We advocate for safe migration and oppose discriminatory immigration systems and policies.
RLS has held a legal aid contract in the UK since 2023.
About the Afghan Pro Bono Initiative (APBI)
The Afghan Pro Bono Initiative is a specialist casework project delivered by RLS with funding and pro bono assistance from 14 leading commercial law firms. It is a project delivered in partnership with SPI.
Firm pro bono lawyers are trained and supervised by the project’s two full-time supervising lawyers so that they can then assist with legal casework.
APBI has two core components. The team delivers legal information and support to and within the Afghan community, working together with the Community Engagement and Research Lead to ensure wide access. While the project also provides high quality legal representation in a range of cases for this community. This includes family reunion, the ARAP scheme, the Afghan Citizens Resettlement Scheme and others.
APBI then aims to respond to the increased need for legal information, advice and representation of Afghan nationals and their family members forced to seek protection and reunion with family in the United Kingdom following the Taliban takeover. The project is now going into its 3rd year, and won the Most Effective Pro Bono Partnership Award at the Law Works Pro Bono Awards in 2022 as well as being nominated and commended for numerous other awards in 2022 and 2023.
The casework of this project feeds into strategic research, policy and advocacy efforts to make existing ‘safe’ routes to protection (in particular refugee family reunion and resettlement schemes) more accessible and effective, advocate for their expansion and defend the fundamental rights of people on the move by influencing policy and decision making.
Litigation arising out of the project is actively pursued (where eligible) under RLS’s legal aid contract to push for better decision-making, secure results for individuals and pursue improvements in the relevant law, policy and practices.
RLS recognise that pro bono legal work is always an adjunct to, and not a substitute for, an adequate system of publicly funded legal services.
Key responsibilities and objectives
The post holder will be a staff member of Refugee Legal Support. They will be a participant within the Afghan Pro Bono Initiative project team, which comprises two lawyers (the other being at SPI), a coordinator and a Community Engagement and Research Lead in addition to the volunteer lawyers from the individual commercial firm partners.
Key responsibilities

Manage a small caseload and provide high quality legal advice and representation to clients;

Supervise the work of volunteer pro bono commercial lawyers on cases;

Deliver training to pro bono commercial lawyers;

Ensure that all legal work is promptly and accurate recorded on RLS’s case management system and keep relevant time recording;

Develop and disseminate relevant information on legal developments in this area for relevant stakeholders, including both the Afghan Community and building the capacity of other practitioners;

Work in close collaboration with the other project Lawyer/s to develop and share experiences and best practice in relation to all aspects of casework (legal, evidential and procedural) and relevant internal processes;

Work in close collaboration with the Legal Director, Programmes Manager and Coordinator to ensure that appropriate steps to achieve the aims and objectives of the project are taken, including ensuring that relevant data is obtained and assisting with the timely completion of the project Operational Plan/s;

Work in close collaboration with the APBI Coordinator and Programmes Manager to contribute to the production of materials such as project periodic reports, information on emerging and strategic issues in relation to ‘safe’ routes for use in advocacy, content for newsletters, social media posts and articles to raise awareness of the project and its aims and outputs;

Participate in, and contribute to, RLS’s monitoring, evaluation and learning framework;

Be an active member of the RLS team participating in team meetings at both the UK and International level: engaging in a collegiate and collaborative environment that includes participating in the development of a new and exciting legal organisation;

Be either a member of the Bar, a solicitor and accredited to IAAS Senior caseworker level, accredited to IAAS Senior caseworker level, or OISC accredited to Level 3;

This is an exciting opportunity for a capable and ambitious paralegal to join our exceptional casework team. You’ll be working at the cutting edge of public law in the UK, supporting our award-winning team of solicitors in strategic cases that bring about real change.
Join Public Law Project (PLP) and you’ll be playing a key role in the team that’s currently running the main challenge to the Rwanda policy. PLP’s casework team has successfully challenged the prorogation of Parliament, helped survivors whose assets are controlled by their abuser to access legal aid, and put a stop to the no-notice removal policy affecting people claiming asylum.
You will be supervised by one of our Lead Lawyers, and have the opportunity to collaborate closely with the whole team. The PLP team is friendly, diverse, and inclusive, and you’ll be supported and encouraged to develop your skills as a public law caseworker. This is a fee-earning role, and so is suitable for candidates looking to develop their career.
You’ll play a crucial supporting role in our casework, taking instructions from clients, drafting correspondence, statements, and instructions, and managing legal aid applications. You’ll perform administrative tasks and be a first point of contact at PLP for prospective clients via phone and email. You’ll be part of a variety of public law cases in PLP’s priority areas – this includes working on immigration, welfare, constitutional, and AI cases.

JOB PURPOSE

Last year we developed a KPI generator using Power BI to produce a live reporting tool. The first interview will be a Safe Care/Warner-style interview. Selected candidates will then be expected to attend a formal interview, including a young people’s panel.
To comply with the Immigration Asylum & Nationality Act 2006 and additional amendments, and UK Visa and Immigration (UKVI) requirements, all prospective employees will be asked to supply evidence of eligibility to work in the UK.
