We are recruiting a General Advice Officer to support with the delivery of advice and welfare support to vulnerable guests who access the Community Wellbeing Service, a local support hub offering relief from the rising cost of living for local families. The General Advice Officer will support our guests on a range of areas including benefits, immigration, housing, money management and access to training and employment services. The postholder will provide high quality welfare advice and guidance through weekly one-to-one advice sessions, undertake case work, work with partners to facilitate referrals, and provide support to advice volunteers.
The successful candidate must have at least two years’ experience delivering effective advice or in a similar capacity, demonstrate empathy, an understanding of the issues facing vulnerable people, and have in-depth and up-to-date knowledge of welfare benefits and housing policies/legislations, with a strong focus on achieving tangible outcomes for our guests.
Advice Work
- Carry out assessments to identify urgent needs and appropriate support pathways for members at the Community Wellbeing Service.
- Support outreach or community engagement activities as needed.
- Provide holistic and person-centred advice and casework on the main enquiry areas, particularly welfare benefits, housing, employment, health and wellbeing, immigration and money management.
- Maintain Sufra’s Advice Quality Standards and meeting tangible outcomes.
- Produce detailed case records on our case management system for the purpose of continuity, statistical monitoring and report preparation
- Apply for funds from trusts and foundations to support individuals and families with essential costs such as housing deposits or white-goods and/or cancellation of debts;
- Develop and maintain good working relationships with external stakeholders for joined up working, including statutory and voluntary service providers, making referrals for guests where appropriate.
- Enable and support guests to act for themselves, wherever appropriate.
- Monitor the progression of all cases to the point of resolution.
- Conduct follow-up calls with guests where needed and track outcomes
- Support volunteers who are working on delivering Advice Services e.g triage volunteers and pathways volunteers
- Provide advice to the General Advice Service as and when required
Case Management
- Manage own caseload and work independently to support guests
- Use of Case Management System (AdvicePro) as well as Microsoft Office for communication and document production.
- Support with developing case studies and gathering guest feedback
- Collect statistical information as requested for reporting purposes.
- Feed into the development of monitoring reports for funders and other stakeholders
Other Responsibilities
- Maintain and update the charity’s record of referral and signposting agencies;
- Ensure data protection regulations are adhered to, and that sensitive data is handled in accordance with relevant legislation and organisational procedures.
- Keep informed of new and changing legislation relevant to the post, and of local issues and policies
- Be committed to the aims, procedures and policies of Sufra’s advice service in every aspect of service delivery.
- Take part in supervisions, personal development training, team meetings and appraisals
- Undertake any other reasonable duties to support the operations of the charity.

We are looking for an enthusiastic person to provide project support work in our InterAction service. The successful candidate will provide support to asylum seekers and refugees in the Tyne and Wear region, empowering them to overcome immediate barriers, integrate with the community and build skills for the future.
The aim of our InterAction project is to support asylum seekers, refugees and migrants to make informed decisions and overcome the difficulties they are facing and integrate successfully into their communities in the North East. The project does this through person-centred support and through building connections to services, organisations and peers.
We provide support through trained caseworkers, many of whom are volunteers with lived experience of the immigration system and are fluent in multiple languages. We work out of drop-ins in Newcastle and South Tyneside, offering social spaces where people can enjoy talking to others, pick up free food and clothing or get a haircut.

International Care Network (ICN) is a Christian charity whose aim is to help to rebuild the lives of refugees, asylum seekers and vulnerable migrants. We are seeking a passionate, innovative and committed Wellbeing Coordinator to lead the development and implementation of a new wellbeing service designed specifically for refugees and asylum seekers in Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole (BCP) and other parts of Dorset. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the challenges faced by refugees and asylum seekers together with a mental health/wellbeing qualification and/or equivalent experience. They will be dedicated to providing warm, welcoming, culturally-sensitive and person-centred mental health and wellbeing support. They will work pro-actively and collaboratively with ICN service users, staff, partners and local services to co-develop, deliver and evaluate a local service that enables individuals to build resilience and agency on their recovery journey. They will be confident in providing trauma-informed support and guidance including referral to counselling and other services, particularly for those who experience barriers in this process.
The role is funded by the National Lottery Community Fund until December 2027 and has the Lived Experience support of Dorset’s leading charity in this area, the Dorset Mental Health Forum (DMHF).

About the post
This exciting role would mean joining Refugee Action at a crucial point in the charity’s 40-year history, full of opportunity and potential. Rainbow Migration is the longest-running charity in Europe dedicated to supporting LGBTQI+ people through the asylum and immigration system and has been campaigning for their rights since 1993. We are recruiting for an Operations Officer to play a key role in supporting the effective day-to-day operations of the organisation.
This is an exciting time to join the organisation. We have grown rapidly in recent years from a small charity generating £200k income in 2019 to £1M in 2024. We are now expanding our operations team to support the larger staff team and delivery of our strategy.
This role will support the organisation’s ongoing development by helping ensure the charity has necessary systems in place and operates in line with its policies and procedures. Role overview
Contract type: Permanent
Hours: Full-time (35 hours per week). Working part-time (minimum 21 hours) will be considered. Occasional work in the evenings and at weekends may be required but with plenty of notice. Rainbow Migration encourages staff to maintain a good work life balance and has a TOIL system in place.
Salary: Starting at £31,294 with potential annual step increases up to £35,086 (pro rata if working part time), plus statutory employer’s pension contribution. In addition to an annual step increase, we consider giving a separate inflationary increase every April.
Location: Rainbow Migration’s wheelchair accessible offices are located between Vauxhall and the Oval, London. This role will have an office-based contract but the postholder can choose to work from home for part of the week in agreement with their line manager as per our hybrid working policy. You must be available to work from our offices in London when necessary. The successful candidate would also be welcome to work from the office full-time if that is their preference. At the time of posting this advert, none of our staff are going into the office every day. There might also be occasional travel outside London with plenty of notice. You will provide advice and representation to rough sleepers within northwest London to end homelessness. By resolving immigration status of service users, you will help eliminate destitution and allow them to access support for a better future - an initiative funded under the London Councils Homelessness Project.

We are recruiting an experienced horticultural consultant who is passionate about involving the community in growing plants and seasonal produce. The Community Gardener will support with the planting and harvesting of fresh, seasonal and organic produce over the busy growing season over the Summer months. The Role
As our Deputy Warehouse Operations Manager (Donations) you will be responsible for stock control and stock movement between our Donation Centre and Warehouse and organising deliveries for van drivers to take stock to our shops. This should all be done in accordance with all health and safety regulations. The sorting of donations quickly and efficiently is a fundamental part of this role, and it is expected that a significant proportion of working time will be spent doing this.
Reporting to the Warehouse Operations Manager (Donations) you will support the management of the volunteer team; the organisation of the weekly logistics, communication to the retail teams regarding their deliveries, and ensuring that any requests for specific stock or returns are well managed.
Specifically, you will:
- Lead the team of employees and volunteers to quickly and efficiently sort donated stock.
- Be responsible for ensuring that donated stock is stored appropriately and safely.
- Identify if any specific donated stock suits the profile/demographics of specific shops in the retail network and ensure that those items are ringfenced and delivered in a timely manner to maximise income for the charity.
- Support the Warehouse Operations Manager (Donations) in managing the daily running of the Donation Centre and warehouse, maintaining policies and procedures.
- Be responsible for planning and administering the weekly logistics, to ensure stock is collected and delivered to the network of shops, and to plan for collections from donors’ homes.
- Support the management of the volunteer rota on a weekly basis to ensure that both the Donation Centre and warehouse are fully operational during opening hours, and minimise lone working.
- Support the management of Donation Centre and warehouse volunteers: This will include recruiting, inducting, managing, motivating, and training to ensure a positive working environment.
- Play an active role as the Duty Manager for the building that you are in, in line with the expectations and requirements of the Business Continuity Plan, and run the site in line with brand standards, and the applicable charity policies and procedures.
About You
To be considered for this role, you will need:
- To be trained as a First Aider and Fire Marshal.
- To be ideally educated to GCSE level or equivalent.
- To have experience of managing people and volunteers including recruitment and development.
- To have previous experience in a warehouse or distribution role, ideally within a retail or charity environment.
- To have commercial awareness to help build and drive sales coupled with the determination and motivation to help build and drive our retail distribution network.
- To have knowledge and experience of effective stock rotation and management.
