The role
We are looking for a dynamic and experienced Senior Programmes Manager to lead the planning, execution, and evaluation of our international programs. This pivotal role requires a strategic thinker with extensive programme management experience and a deep commitment to our mission.
The Senior Programmes Manager will be responsible for ensuring that our programmes are effectively designed and delivered, meet the needs of the communities and animals we serve, and align with our organizational strategy and donor expectations.
Positioned within the Global Programmes Department the role will involve close collaboration across teams in both the Global Support Office and our implementing partners.
Responsibilities include: programme management, strategic planning & stakeholder engagement, budget management, monitoring & evaluation, cross-team collaboration.
Contract, location and salary
This is a full-time (34.5 hours per week), permanent role. This is a remote position with regular attendance required at SPANA's London office. Benefits include a generous company pension scheme, health care cash plan and life insurance. The salary is c.£45k per annum subject to skills and experience.

About the role
This is an exciting opportunity to strengthen Christian Aid's work on Peacebuilding and Conflict Prevention, a strategic organisational priority, to increase the impact of our work, strengthen and support the delivery of our Peacebuilding and conflict Prevention Global Strategy. To promote learning, provide technical support to programme teams, driving conflict sensitivity, addressing the root causes and drivers of conflict, violence and GBV, and enhancing practice on peacebuilding and conflict prevention, working with Christian Aid's teams in 29 countries across in Africa, Asia, Latin America, the Middle East, and Europe.
You will work as a part of the team shaping and developing Christian Aid's global work on peacebuilding and conflict prevention. The role sits in Christian Aid Ireland (CAI) the organisational / global lead on Peacebuilding and Conflict Prevention. The post-holder reports to the Head of Unit, based in the International Department in Christian Aid (CA).
The purpose and direction of the post will be driven by Christian Aid's Peacebuilding and Conflict Prevention Global Strategy. This includes strategic priority areas on conflict sensitivity, peacebuilding, conflict prevention, gender equality and the reduction of gender based violence (GBV). This role will support delivery of the strategy, in areas of programmes, policy and programme quality, including but not limited to humanitarian settings or complex protracted conflicts.
The role combines direct technical support; programme development; facilitation of learning and mutual support between programmes; and development of good practice and guidance resources based on both internal experience and external learning. The role will provide technical expertise, will capture learning, and build on Christian Aid's experience delivering peacebuilding work supported by donors such as the EU, Irish Aid, UK FCDO, UN Peacebuilding Fund and USAID, and others, to build sustainable peace.
Overseas travel is required for programme monitoring and support. The role will provide regular briefings and guidance for programme staff to develop the the focus on Peacebuilding and Conflict Prevention, providing strategic input to key decision-making bodies, engaging advisor groups and working with the International Division of Christian Aid.
As well as implementing programmes on peacebuilding, conflict transformation, conflict resolution, protection and human rights, Christian Aid has a strong track record of advocacy, tackling factors that drive fragility and exclusion. The role involves working with both programme and policy teams across the organisation and engaging in advocacy with relevant Irish and European audiences as required. The role also represents Christian Aid externally (with donors, NGOs, academic institutions) to share learning and best practice from our programmes.
About you
Essential:
-Knowledge of current thinking on peacebuilding, conflict prevention, tackling violence, including GBV, in an international context
-Experience of international programme work on peacebuilding, GBV, conflict sensitivity / conflict analysis
-Familiarity with programme cycle management tools and methods
-Ability to apply analysis of conflict / power / gender to programme design
-Excellent facilitation skills, and ability to promote critical thinking and reflection
-Experience providing training, technical support and/or advice
-Creative thinking and track record of promoting innovation
-Track record of promoting organisational learning
-Experience developing proposals, analysing technical strategies for implementation.
-Demonstrable ability to influence others and negotiate win-win solutions
-Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to discuss sensitive issues and inspire others to take up new challenges, and build effective working relationships
Desirable:
-Familiarity with partnership working and the role of civil society / faith based organisations in development / peacebuilding
-Experience working in humanitarian programmes
-Experience implementing GBV response/prevention programmes
-Experience of policy/advocacy work
-Experience of designing projects and/or managing consultants
-Ability to communicate effectively in Spanish and/or French.

ROLE SUMMARY:
The People and Culture (P&C) Business Partner drives the P&C operational effectiveness in Country Offices, facilitates organisational development and change and provides a framework for best people’s practice and quality standards. The P&C Business Partner also supports the organization in developing and implementing initiatives that encourage diversity, promote equity, and support psychological and physical safety of the workforce.
International travel including security high risk countries up to 6 times a year and extended screen time will be required.
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
Operational delivery (30%)
- Provide advice and influence action on P&C global policies, and in collaboration with local P&C Specialists advice on local policies and employment law to staff and management based in Country Offices (COs).
- Support the timely review of local policies and embed best practice, ensuring local needs and culture are reflected.
- Work with Chief People and Culture Office (CPCO), P&C Directors, the Talent Acquisition Specialist, the Safeguarding Specialist, Global Directors of Country Offices and Logistics Manager to identity and mitigate people related risks in COs and prevent and resolve issues.
Quality Assurance (20%)
- Drive efficiency and quality assurance of P&C operational practices in COs by conducting assessments and P&C Audits, and work with P&C Specialists and Country Directors (CDs) to enhance the employee experience, ensure consistency, continuous improvement and enhance People’s capacity in country.
- Support CDs to ensure compliance and manage P&C risks as per country risk register and audits’ actions.
- Contribute to the data gathering, analysis and presentation of P&C reports, to enable decision making Identifies trends, propose actions for improvement and instigate implementation.
Employee Relations and Employee Services (30%)
- Monitor the whistleblowing line and ensure timely action is taken in all complaints received related to COs.
- Oversee and work with P&C and COs management on the prevention and effective resolution of employee relations issues and adherence to disciplinary procedures. Responsible for maintaining confidential records.
- Conduct investigations and liaise with legal firms and/or investigators to resolve ER cases.
- Identify trends and areas of concerns based on data channels i.e. surveys and exit interviews and proposes actions.
Diversity, Equity Inclusion and Accessibility (DEIA) (10%)
- Embed DEIA approaches in policies and processes, to create a framework that welcomes and supports staff regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, age, religion, language, ability, status, and location.
- Work with the Global Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Accessibility Committee (GDEIAC) to communicate DEIA strategy and establish measurable goals to track progress.
- Source, develop and manage trainings and a forum of knowledge based on needs, including through the Learning Management System (LMS) and the DEIA Week.
- Analyse DEIA data to make recommendations and support implementation of agreed actions.
Safety and Safeguarding (10%)
- From the P&C perspective, support adherence to safety, security and Safeguarding policies and procedures across the organisation.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING (ESSENTIAL):
Expertise (Certifications/Education, Professional Experience):
- Master’s degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, Org Behaviour or related field
- Experience of working at HQ or regional level on an international development organization with representation in low, medium and high-income countries
- Experience in management of HR international operations with thorough knowledge and understanding of applicable local laws and donor requirements in a number of countries
- Experience in delivering HR services through a business partner model
- Experience advising and training P&C professionals, staff and management on employee relations issues and best people management practices

Islamic Relief Worldwide (IRW) is a faith-based humanitarian relief and development organisation working to save and transform the lives of some of the world’s most vulnerable people. IRW’s International Programmes Division is recruiting for the position of ‘Faith Partnership Advisor (FPA)’ on a permanent, full time basis, to join its dynamic team based out of its offices in either Birmingham, London or where IR has an office globally. The organisation is currently operating to a hybrid working policy.
The purpose of the role:
The Faith Partnership Advisor will play a critical role within International Programmes Division (IPD) supporting the Divisions’ strategic objectives to consolidate its identity as an Islamic faith-based institution, leading our Faith Engagement Strategy, representing our approach to important multi-lateral and other institutions, ensuring the faith sensitivity and faith literacy of its programmes and securing funding for its global operations. The role will sit within the Programme Funding and Partnership Department (PFPD) within the IPD.
Building upon our many programme partnerships with other faith-based and non-faith-based actors, this role will forge new partnerships that build on the inspiring work we have developed in the areas of livelihoods, peacebuilding, forced migration, protection and gender justice. Working with major institutional donors, the Faith Partnership Advisor will form part of a collaborative team and manage the bid process from inception to submission on new programme initiatives. Specifically, the Faith Partnership Adviser will capitalise on the organisation’s faith-based approach to development. The Faith Partnership Advisor is expected to have extensive experience preparing bids which have a faith dimension to them, centred on the added value of Islamic Relief as a faith-based organisation and the industry’s need to have faith centric development and humanitarian approaches.
The successful candidate must have:
- A graduate degree or equivalent experience in development/humanitarian areas
- An in-depth understanding of international development issues
- An exceptional understanding of the principles of Islamic jurisprudence and Islamic teaching, particularly pertaining to aid and development issues
- An awareness of the various funding mechanism that are available within the industry
- Exceptional command of English with the ability to edit, summarise and compile information quickly and often within short time frames
- An ability to speak publicly and communicate confidently within groups
- An ability to lead working groups and plan strategically
- Expert knowledge of Microsoft Word and being versed with PowerPoint and Excel
- Track record of working in a similar role with an International NGO essential
- Proven ability to secure funding for Faith Partnerships
- Must have substantial experience of having worked on successful bids/partnerships which have a faith dimension
- Well versed and with proven capabilities of understanding the faith dimension of international development and humanitarian interventions.
- Demonstrated experience of working on multiple bids with various institutional donors
- Ability to work extensively with a team and or on their own
- Knowledge of the key critical areas impacting the international development sector, including awareness of SDGs, faith-based initiatives, CHS, Humanitarian principles etc.
