Job Description

People & Culture

• Lead the review and development of HR policies and processes to ensure that they embody People’s Economy’s values, and support effective working and staff wellbeing, drawing in external expertise as necessary.

• Lead the development and implementation of recruitment processes for staff vacancies, ensuring compliance with People’s Economy’s recruitment policy and employment law.

• Lead the implementation of formal HR processes e.g. disciplinary processes, contract variations, and act as the key point of contact with People’s Economy’s external HR advisers. 

• Contribute to the development of organisational culture and values and ensure that they are embedded, promoted and enacted throughout the organisation.

• Lead review and development of People’s Economy’s safeguarding policy, processes and practice including staff and trustee training.

• Lead the work to build and maintain staff health and safety and wellbeing, through developing appropriate systems, processes and practices.

• Undertake day-to-day HR administration, including leave booking and sickness absence recording. 

Operations

• Develop policies, systems and processes to support the effective functioning of the organisation and (with support from the Programme Director) which support the implementation of programme and project delivery.

• Develop and maintain People’s Economy’s IT systems, including working with external providers to review IT security. 

• Lead on regularly reviewing and updating People’s Economy’s remote and hybrid working policies and supporting colleagues to access suitable equipment and workspace to carry out their roles.

• Support the Programme Director set up and manage the operation of People’s Economy’s monitoring, evaluation and learning systems and their embedding across the organisation.

• Support the Executive Director to implement People’s Economy’s Diversity, Inclusion and Anti-Oppression (DIAO) policy and lead the annual process of reviewing and updating the policy, and relevant organisational systems and processes to support the implementation of the policy. 

Finance

• Lead People’s Economy’s financial management and control, including:

  • Manage People’s Economy’s book-keeping and payroll providers to ensure that high quality records of income and expenditure are maintained and the smooth operation of supplier payments, invoicing, payroll and pensions contributions.

  • Oversee the timely production of regular financial reporting including management accounts, cash forecasting and quarterly reporting to the Board. Scrutinise regular finance reports and work to resolve any issues identified. 

  • Liaise with People’s Economy’s accountant and manage the annual process of independent examination and producing year-end reports and accounts.

• Lead on financial planning, including the preparation of an annual organisational budget and lead on updating budget information throughout the year.

• Create systems and processes to support staff to develop and manage budgets for the programmes and projects that they are leading.

• With support from the Executive Director, lead the development of organisational business plans and monitoring of progress against them, including reporting on progress to the Trustee Board.

• Lead on maintaining robust and up-to-date information about the organisation’s income pipeline. 

• Lead on fundraising administration:

  • Track progress against income targets ensuring information is kept up to date and regularly updating the Executive Director on the position.

  • Manage funder reporting and invoicing, working closely with colleagues leading funder relationships and with People’s Economy’s book-keeping provider.

Governance and Legal

• Lead on compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements including data protection, employment law, health and safety, and charity law.

• Ensure that People’s Economy has appropriate insurance in place.

• Lead on Trustee Board administration and support the good functioning of the Board, including by managing trustee recruitment processes when required.

• Lead on maintaining the organisational risk register and reporting on it to the Trustee Board. 

• Work with the Executive Director to ensure that there are effective mechanisms to ensure the robustness of external and internal controls (financial and non-financial).

Line Management

• Oversee People’s Economy’s book-keeping providers, and line manage possible future roles, supporting post-holders to carry out their roles effectively and to develop professionally.

Dartington Service Design Lab is an internationally respected social research and design charity focussed on using evidence to help those working with children and young people have a greater impact. We are seeking an experienced mixed methods social researcher, with a particular interest and expertise in evaluation. Whilst the role is varied, the primary focus is the formative, developmental and summative evaluation and iterative refinement of a range ofservice-level and place-based and/or systemic change initiatives focused on improving outcomes for children, families and communities. The work involves applying mixed methods and working with an inter-disciplinary team (internally and with collaborating partners).

The postholder will manage phone calls and web enquiries through to successful conclusions via our Head of Counselling and their team of over fifty counsellors, creating and maintaining client records with Charitylog – a client records management system.

Peer Support Group Development Officer - Midlands Area

Following the successful application of a National Lottery award, we are seeking two dedicated and compassionate Peer Support Group Development Officers to set up and sustain local peer support groups for people living with and affected by prostate cancer. These roles focus on building on our established networks to expand peer support in defined areas, facilitating group formation, and enhancing service delivery through strategic outreach and resource development.

This role offers a unique opportunity to make a significant impact on the lives of individuals living with and affected by prostate cancer, providing crucial support through community-based initiatives. The Finance Manager role is a newly created role which is being introduced to strengthen the organisation’s financial management and control systems. The postholder will work across the breadth of the finance function preparing internal management accounts and external annual accounts.

In 2024, Cord changed its finance system to use Business Central. The Finance Manager will become the organisation’s main ‘admin’ user of the finance system. In the near-term, there will be a particular focus on rolling out further functionality of the system.

The Finance Manager will have oversight of the UK finance function through the line management of the UK Finance Officer and will directly deliver on the international side of operations in the areas of donor compliance, programme financial management, partner financial monitoring, and reporting. The role will involve travel to international programme locations.

• To support the Head of Operations to provide finance team leadership, develop and deliver an annual finance workplan to ensure continual improvement, and to drive finance capacity across the organisation

The Rank Prize

Location and travel

We all work remotely, however travel and overnight stays are required as part of the role. You'll attend around 3-4 symposia a year, which run from Mondays to Thursdays and are currently held in the Lake District. You'll also attend 2-3 half-day meetings in London a year, which may require overnight stays depending on how far away from London you live. It would be helpful if you had a full UK driving license and access to your own car.

About You
The post-holder will provide key support to the Policy and Diversity Manager to achieve the policy objectives set out in AMI’s strategic plan; ensuring AMI’s community are engaged on key areas of policy and aware of relevant policy developments by contributing to the AMI newsletter, website, The Microbiologist magazine, social media, other digital platforms and networking events. They would also ensure that all activities under this remit are delivered to an excellent standard, and in line with AMI’s strategy.

Candidates will have knowledge of policy structures relevant to science and technology along with excellent research and analytical skills, and the ability to grasp unfamiliar subjects and report as concise recommendations. They will have strong communications skills to communicate with a wide-ranging audience.

The Clean Air Fund is looking to recruit a Part - Time Executive Assistant (Remote) to join their team in Colombia. This is an exciting opportunity to join a rapidly growing organisation whose mission is to use philanthropic grants to catalyse a reduction in air pollution.   

This role supports the Executive Director of Breathe Cities. As the Executive Assistant (EA), working alongside the Senior Executive Assistant and Support Manager, and CEO Office team, this role ensures the Director and their teams are supported to work efficiently and effectively and that team projects are facilitated to run smoothly. It’s a role at the heart of a fast-moving organisation and offers an opportunity for hands-on work on projects combatting air pollution. Among the tasks is supporting the preparation for our Governance, including Committee meetings.

The EA is responsible for diary management, which includes a lot of complex international travel and coordinating the preparations for high-profile international events. The post holder manages the Executive’s emails to ensure that they give their attention to organisational priorities – both internal and external.

Live Music Coordinator

We have an exciting opportunity for a Live Music Coordinator in the North of England to support the delivery of live music experiences improving the health and wellbeing of children and adults through the healing power of live music.

The Role

The Live Music Coordinator will facilitate the delivery of live music experiences across the North of England, improving the health and wellbeing of children and adults through the healing power of live music.

You will work with professional musicians to share live music with people who may not otherwise get to experience it, organising programmes with partner organisations, in line with the organisation’s strategy and operational plan.

You will also support the delivery of the annual programme of live music experiences communicating with hospitals, hospices, care homes and the community. This includes those living with dementia, who have mental health problems, or who are seriously ill.

Main duties and responsibilities include:

• Coordination of the live music programme
• Prepare reports and appropriate feedback to the Live Music Manager and support to the Fundraising and Communications team as per the reporting timeframes required
• Inform the Live Music Manager of progress and developments
• Support the Live Music Manager to manage and deliver services
• Encourage, collate and monitor feedback reports from healthcare centres, participants and musicians
• Ensure effective administration in accordance with the UK-wide system for facilitating and contracting of individual health and care settings and musicians
• Provide copy for publications such the newsletter and Annual Report.
• Support Safeguarding and Health and Safety compliance within geographic area of responsibility
