The Carers Information Service was established in 1997 and is part of the John Whitgift Foundation. We are a small, friendly team dedicated to providing free advice, information and support to carers in Croydon.

Offering a wide range of services including health and wellbeing activities, carer's assessments, respite care, bereavement support, digital and printed publications, meeting room hire and much more. We are supported by Croydon Council and work closely with colleagues across the borough from the voluntary and community sector, NHS, and local authority.

As an Advice and Assessment Worker your main responsibilities will be to carry out Carer’s Assessments, giving advice, information and support to adult carers who are looking after a relative, partner, friend or neighbour of someone who needs help due to illness, disability, or old age.

The ability to work well in a team is essential!

This role is for 35 hours per week.

We’re looking for a Freedom Volunteer Coordinator, who will be responsible for recruiting and supporting our volunteer foster carers, who play a critical role in helping people find freedom from domestic abuse.

About this role:
As Freedom Volunteer Coordinator, you will:

• recruit volunteer foster carers for the project, including handling queries from prospective volunteers, ensuring documentation is completed and supporting with training and induction,
• help with volunteer recruitment, such as attending recruitment events and supporting with virtual recruitment campaigns,
• support with ongoing management and retention of volunteer fosters, working with regional managers to ensure volunteering standards are maintained, and volunteers are recognised for their important contribution to our work,
• write regular communications to volunteers, including designing and producing promotional materials of the project.

This role is being offered as a fixed term contract for six months.

About you:
To be successful in this role, you’ll need some experience of working with volunteers in previous role, ideally with experience of recruiting, inducting, and managing them. You’ll also need experience of home visiting and working in a public facing role, combined with a proactive attitude and excellent communication skills. Critically, this role requires an understanding of domestic abuse, and it’s impact on pet ownership, as well as the emotional resilience to manage the emotional demands of the role.

To ensure that the Finance functions, financial reporting and financial strategies support and contribute to the overall aims and success of the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

• Will contribute fully to the day to day operation of their team or area, with flexibility and without the need for close supervision
• Using a good degree of proficiency and well - established professional knowledge, will analyse and help to find solutions to challenges and issues that arise
• Support the Alpha Financial Controller in running the reporting and reconciliation systems of Alpha
• Complete monthly reconciliations (such as accruals and prepayments), as directed by the Alpha Financial Controller or with the Processing Team, if the need arises.
• Work with Accounting Processing Team on their monthly reconciliations, providing support on purchase and sales ledger
• Review the twice-monthly purchase ledger payments and monthly payroll for Alpha providing first-time compliance and accuracy checks.
• Review the monthly credit card payments for Alpha to make sure compliance with the expense policy and accuracy checks.
• Take responsibility with the Alpha Financial Controller for ensuring strong financial controls, good governance, and statutory compliance
• Assist the Alpha Finance Director and Financial Controller with projects on an ad-hoc basis.
• Detailed monthly bank reconciliation for Alpha with queries sent to responsible person for posting.
• Assist the Alpha Risk and Governance Team with Due diligence on grants outward –ensuring these are recorded completely and accurately; and that due diligence requirements are followed up, assessed, and filed
• Take responsibility for detailed analysis and reconciliation of all regional expenditure and income analysis
• Monthly Intercompany reconciliations and follow up
• Supporting the development of financial awareness across the charity and its operations at all levels of management and administration
• Review/approval of new suppliers on Dimensions (including checking and entering supplier bank details in Dimensions and Stonex)
• Assistance with Monthly Management accounts (forecasting, liaison with departments/regions etc)
• Involvement in the annual budget process (e.g. arranging meetings & checking templates to budget steer)
• Involvement in the yearend accounts preparation and Audit (Fixed Asset register, other schedules, providing samples and explanations to auditors)
• Responsible for preparing and submitting quarterly HTBG VAT returns
• First line of support for Alpha budget holders when they have questions about codes/payments etc.
• Work closely with the Alpha Fund development team to update them on financial information for donor proposals.
Other:
• Take occasional lead in Finance Team prayer sessions.

Key Responsibilities

As the Trusts & Foundations Officer you will assist in identifying new funding opportunities to expand the existing funder base, work closely with all departments to develop tailored proposals and implement the organisation's fundraising strategy. You will maintain a rolling programme of bespoke grant applications while building and stewarding long-term relationships with funders. The role includes supporting the Head of Trusts and Statutory Fundraising with donor communications, trust and statutory fundraising applications, submitting timely reports, and maintaining accurate records.

About You:

The ideal candidate will have at least 1-2 years’ experience in a relevant fundraising role, and a good understanding of the voluntary sector funding environment. They should be skilled in researching and developing new funding pipelines, managing multiple contacts, and have excellent writing, proof-reading, and organisational abilities. Financial literacy and budget management are essential, alongside IT proficiency and familiarity with CRM systems like ThankQ. SCOPE OF WORK

The role will involve the following main areas of work:

1. Programme support and delivery:

• Liaising with partner organisation staff including other NGOs, schools, local authorities and Home Office staff

• Facilitate engaging workshops for children from refugee and migrant communities

The role of the Events team within Alpha International is to oversee the organising of Leadership Conference (LC) in-person, any events around Leadership Conference (including Donor events, Wednesday CEF event, Alpha Staff day, regional satellite events) and London-based Alpha events across the year (such as Alpha Collective and Experience Alpha).

The Responsibilities

Events Manager
o Line managing the assigned event coordinators, temporary staff or office volunteers.
o This will include annual appraisals and weekly 1-2-1’s
o Helping to recruit and line-manage casual workers
o Helping with day to day running and support of the team for the staff assigned to this role.
Logistical arrangements:
o Development and execution of the events Day Plan. This is a minute-by-minute detailed plan that holds all the information of what will take place at the event.
o Gathering technical and logistical requirements from speakers, stream leaders and internal departments; then negotiating this with the IT, Production, Vergers and Volunteers Teams or with an external venue or AV suppliers.
o Determining catering requirements and caterer management.

Marketing and communications:

o Ensuring all GDPR protocols are followed – keeping the login access tracker up to date.

Staffing:
o Volunteer recruitment working closely with the Alpha leadership on this.
o Communication with HTB staff as to their specific roles and responsibilities & conducting staff briefings.
o Building working relationships with volunteers and team when onsite.

The Minerva London service provides holistic, trauma-informed support for women in touch with the Criminal Justice System, through dedicated one to one support, safer women’s centre spaces and specialist interventions and partnerships.

This position demands a practitioner who is ready to “step up” to support colleagues, hold our policy and procedural framework and the BACP’s Ethical framework. You also need to understand the importance of maintaining and managing professional boundaries and be able to make sound clinical decisions quickly including safeguarding and risk.

Purpose of the Job:

This role is within our crisis alternative service – Safe Space - which is an out of hours service providing a safe and welcoming space for people who are feeling distressed and experiencing crisis. The service operates 365 days a year from 12:00pm(midday)-11:30pm across all of our boroughs. The shift pattern for this role is 4:30-11:30pm. This will be on a rota basis across support workers.

Staff within the service will provide person-centred, practical and emotional support, face to face or via telephone on a one-to-one or group basis to individuals experiencing mental health crisis. This will consist of 1:1 support; de-escalating and providing interventions, signposting for specialised or longer-term support, and delivering collaborative self-management plans with clients to improve mental wellbeing. The aim of this service is to de-escalate and prevent further crises.

The objectives of the service include:

• To improve the mental wellbeing of people experiencing mental health crisis in HFEH.
• To provide support to clients accessing the service- for instance: signposting, de-escalation, planned wellbeing activities etc.
• To contribute to an improvement in individual mental wellbeing.
• To remain a source of independent support for all clients.
• To treat service users with respect, dignity and personalised support
• To raise awareness of mental health services available with the goal to improve long term mental health and reduce social isolation
• To increase self-management skills of those accessing the service
• To reduce the use of police, ambulance and statutory mental health services whilst experiencing crisis.
• To reduce the use of statutory crisis services by people experiencing mental ill health without positive outcomes for the individual.

Key Responsibilities:

• Providing a person centred and recovery orientated approach in all aspects of the roles and responsibilities.
• Promoting people’ rights and responsibilities
• Working collaboratively with clients to understand their needs and developing flexible and realistic crisis support packages/person centred plans
• Listening to clients and encouraging positive steps towards self-management of crisis and recovery
• Providing advice, information, practical and emotional support to clients
• Proactively recognising the indicators of deteriorating mental health and facilitate appropriate action, whilst liaising with relevant agencies e.g. CATT, Emergency Duty Teams, CMHTS, etc
• Engaging with clients to show empathy, inspire hope and promote recovery
• Establishing supportive, empowering and respectful relationships with clients and carers/ family

You will have:

• Minimum of 1 year working in mental health services and with clients experiencing mental health distress and crisis
• Experience of managing challenging behaviour and dealing with clients with complex needs
• Experience of managing safeguarding risks and understanding legal requirements for safeguarding adults and children
• Evidence of continual professional development
• Understanding of the Recovery Model in mental health
• Understanding of the principles of trauma informed care
• Understanding of suicide prevention and safety planning
• Understanding of the relationship between mental health and social issues and how these issues may impact on physical, mental and emotional wellbeing

The British Dyslexia Association (BDA) is a charity that represents the voice of people living with dyslexia and dyscalculia. We aim to influence government and other institutions to promote a dyslexia friendly society that enables dyslexic and dyscalculic people of all ages to reach their full potential.

This is a key role within the organisation and will take on tutoring responsibilities for a caseload of students undertaking the BDA’s professional level 5/7 training. Being part of a team of tutors, you will be expected to input into the development and moderation of our current level 5/7 training programmes. You will also be expected to engage directly with students and be able to build an encouraging relationship that supports them through their training programme much of which is delivered via e-learning. You will have a strategic focus on driving an impactful events programme and supporting donor relationship strategies with the Head of Philanthropy & Events.

You’ll be an experienced fundraiser, creating special moments and opportunities for guests to connect with the importance of the work of Starlight. It will be second nature to you to control costs and maximise income, while creating unparalleled guest experiences.

You’ll love meeting people, making connections and have excellent interpersonal and both written and verbal communication skills. You’ll thrive on working across a number of projects and be able to prioritise your workload and manage your time effectively. You’ll confidently work across the Starlight Team, building strong relationships with the CEO, Directors, Trustees and Event Committee Chairs. You’ll also enjoy working independently and on your own initiative when appropriate.

A high degree of flexibility will be needed for this role, and a willingness to work some evenings and weekends.
