About us
Who we are
Our vision is for a world where everyone with dyslexia can flourish. We campaign for an inclusive society that acknowledges, accepts and empowers individuals with dyslexia so that we can help create a kinder, fairer and stronger world.
As well as our campaigning activity and our efforts to raise awareness, the BDA also sets professional standards for those working in the field. We offer dyslexia assessments as well as training and accreditation to teachers and other individuals who support dyslexic people. We have a team of volunteers that run our Helpline which offers advice to anyone who requires it.
Many of the BDA team have personal reasons for wanting to work with the organisation, perhaps having experience of dyslexia in their personal or work lives. Our aim is always to be an employer of choice and we are proud to have such a passionate team.
Equality, diversity and inclusion policy
We want everyone we work with, as a colleague, volunteer, supporter, or someone we support, to feel included and that they belong at the BDA. We are committed to building a diverse organisation that represents the communities we serve and ensuring inclusion in everything we do.
