The Role

As a Training and Engagement Coordinator to the Scotland Team, you will provide effective and efficient co-ordination of resources and support, primarily related to our accredited courses, Idaa and DACA, as well as our open course and bespoke training, when capability allows. You will work alongside the Training Lead and Senior Training and Engagement Coordinator and occasionally help support with our Safer, Sooner and Authentic Voice operational work.

This role is integral to our providing quality training across Scotland, influencing and enhancing the approach of professionals who come into contact with domestic abuse.

Hours: 22.5 hours per week (3 days)

Contract: April 2026 with the possibility of extension

Location: UK based, remote (with occasional fully imbursed travel in Scotland and wider UK and, where candidate is England-based, expected occasional working from Bristol office)

Overview

To date, Global Dialogue’s finances has been overseen by an external accountancy firm. Over the last eighteen months, we have been working towards bringing our finance function in house. This role presents an exciting opportunity for an experienced accountant to take the reins and complete the development and roll out of our internal finance function.

The Head of Finance is a new role within the organisation that is both strategic and handson. In the first phase, the postholder will be required to roll up their sleeves and, with the support of Global Dialogue’s Finance Officer, get stuck into the detail of financial administration, including overseeing twice monthly pay runs, monthly and quarterly closes, and other day-to-day financial management tasks. Alongside this, the role will lead on bringing the finance function fully in house, eventually taking on full responsibility for the preparation of management and statutory accounts, cashflow and FX management, and budgeting and forecasting processes. This role will play a key coaching role for the Finance Officer, with a view to eventually delegating all bookkeeping tasks. The postholder will also be responsible for ensuring finance systems are innovative, robust and fit for purpose, and will be a business partner to our hosted programmes, providing advice on compliance and strategic matters.

• Payroll systems expertise. Highly proficient with payroll software (Oracle and/or Zellis is highly desirable). Advanced Excel is additionally required.
• Demonstrable experience managing and developing a team, with strong performance management and coaching/development skills.
• Project management experience. Proven achievements in leading payroll-related projects, such as systems implementations or process improvements.
• Strong ability to identify, assess and solve payroll-related issues with a proactive and strategic approach.

Role Summary

ProVeg International is a global organisation made up of 12 national non-profit teams, each of which responsible for local fundraising, supported by an international fundraising team focused on major opportunities, international, and core funding.

The role of the Grant Writing Manager is to provide excellent and compelling fundraising content of all kinds, whether internal cases for support, proposals, applications or reports in order to support the goal of at least doubling our global income from around 15 to 30 million dollars in the next three years.

You will be an expert in grant writing, and have a keen eye for detail and basic financial acumen related to project funding bids. You will manage a pipeline of global trusts and foundation applications, while providing support to proposals of other kinds driven by the wider fundraising team. Ideally you would be experienced in drafting compelling narratives for complex charitable causes, ideally in climate, environment or food systems transformation.

Responsibilities

International income generation

• Together with the International Fundraising Manager and Philanthropy Director, contribute to and implement a 3-year international grants strategy, and develop annual and quarterly objectives and key results (OKRs).

• Research and prepare proposals for potential major donors, trusts and foundations, and where relevant, corporate opportunities, and coordinate international and joint bids.

• Develop a pipeline of existing and potential trusts and foundations.

• Identify and develop processes and systems to support the growth of grants income.

• Identify suitable projects within the organisation’s plan in order to build cases for support and satisfy donor wish lists.

• Develop pitch packages and stories for different audiences, in particular donors motivated by reasons other than animal protection.

• Contribute to the international fundraising calls, support ProVeg country directors and national fundraising teams with grant applications.

• Identify and develop processes and systems to support the growth of trust and foundation income.

Qualifications

Required:

• 5+ years of experience of grant writing at a not-for-profit, preferably an international NGO.

• A track record of identifying and securing significant, and/or multi-year, five-figure+ funds from trusts, foundations and/or corporates, ideally also having obtained unrestricted (‘core’/operational) funding.

• Expertise in the development of grant application strategies and proposals (including strategic prioritisation of projects and opportunities).

• Experience with different grant-making bodies and requirements.

• Ability to turn numbers, outcomes and goals into a compelling story.

• Evidence of successful proposal writing, from start to finish, as well as experience with writing concise reports.

• Excellent project-management and organisational skills, including documentation of work, with the ability to lead and work collaboratively.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Excellent interpersonal skills, including confident demeanour and experience in engaging with a diverse range of people. 

• Passion for and commitment to ProVeg's mission.

Role Description

Veganuary is recruiting a part-time HR Manager who will work to manage all aspects of the employee lifecycle across our International operation. Whilst we would love someone with experience of working as an HR Manager across an International team, we recognise that some elements of the role can be learned. Therefore, this role could suit someone who has solid HR experience at a lower level but who is proactive, self-suffice and with great employment law experience.

Recruitment

• Manage the end-to-end recruitment process, including job postings, contacting candidates, arranging interviews and onboarding

Recruitment Process

Our recruitment process normally takes around 3 weeks and usually consists of 4 stages as follows:

1. A job specific pre interview task (to be completed between 21st – 24th October 2024)

We’re lucky enough to receive many amazing applications for our roles and it’s sometimes difficult to select a small number of people to interview. By having a pre interview task, it allows us to learn more about our shortlisted candidates than a CV and cover letter can tell us.

2. A first interview with the hiring manager and one other team member (Interviews will take place on 5th November 2024)

This is always competency based and job aligned so there isn’t anything for you to prepare.

3. A timed trial task (to be completed between 6th – 8th November)

You will be given a job specific task to be completed with a short window of time at a time agreed with our HR team.

4. A follow up second interview with the hiring manager and one other team member (Interviews will take place on the 11th November 2024)

This final stage allow the team to ask any follow up questions or explore areas that they have reflected on since the first interview. There isn’t usually anything to prepare.

Z House is an exciting new project for Caring in Bristol. It will provide much needed emergency short-term accommodation for 18 – 25-year-olds in housing crisis, which links in with daytime support to help people move on to sustainable appropriate accommodation.

Based in St Pauls, Bristol, Z House bridges the gap between high quality night shelter and person-centred homelessness prevention.

Z House is a low support needs night shelter that can offer placements for up to 4 young people, however we seek to increase this number over the course of the next stage of our journey.

After a successful pilot, we are now seeking a Weeknight (Monday – Thursday) Worker to help us deliver this vital work over the next year.

Starting at 8:30pm in the evening, supporting our young people to settle for the evening before your sleep-in shift from 11:30pm until 7:00am, in the morning you’ll support the young people and our volunteers with breakfast and room change for the day, finishing your shift at 8:30am.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Housing Management

· Carry out any required health and safety, housing management, risk management monitoring, keeping accurate and complete records throughout.

· Identify and report defects in the buildings, furniture, and equipment to promote a safe

working environment in line with Health and Safety and follow relevant procedures to

remedy all defects.

· Contribute to the upkeep of services, ensuring young people’s rooms, communal and

colleague areas are well maintained, serviced, safe and clean.

Supporting Young People

· Provide support and guidance for young people as appropriate and liaise with their support worker to ensure strong communication.

· Promote the participation and involvement of young people within and outside the

organisation to elevate users’ voice in the delivery of the Z House service.

· Ensure initial safeguarding duties and Policies are met alongside our DSL and on-call manager.

· Ensure all relevant records (including case-notes, safeguarding, incident, and other logs) are

completed for all shifts.

Volunteers

· To support and provide guidance to volunteers partnering your shift.

· Ensure the volunteers’ experience at Caring in Bristol is enjoyable and adds value to the lives of those we support.

The Role

As Programme Manager you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth delivery of the Tree Aid portfolio – including in francophone West Africa, so being able to speak French is a strong advantage.

Supported by two Programme Officers (to be line managed by you), and overseeing the delivery of some projects yourself, you will work with UK and Regional and country office Programme and Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning staff to track delivery and reporting on Tree Aid projects, reporting any major issues and successes to the Head of Programme Management.

As Programme Manager, you will be expected to:

•Line manage programme officers, to monitor – and directly support where necessary – projects, in being on-track with their delivery in terms of donor compliance, timeframe, budget and objectives

•Provide backstopping to specific projects within the Tree Aid portfolio, ensuring that they too are on-track

•Act as a focal point for donors where it is necessary in managing project contracts

•Support the Head of Programme Management in improving Programme Management systems and processes and raising any major project issues

About You

As Programme Manager, you will have a wealth of experience in project/contract management ideally in an international development organisation. 

You will also have the following knowledge, experience, and skills:       

•A commitment to TREE AID's values 

•Ability to communicate in French

•Able to work as part of a cross-cultural team particularly with staff for whom English is not their first language 

•Able to work flexibly and be adaptable 

•Shows Initiative, and can work with minimum supervision

•5 years’ experience of project / contract management ideally in an international development organisation 

•Demonstrable experience of managing complex projects and collaborating with several colleagues across countries 

•Experience of managing teams, including remotely

•Excellent IT skills specifically Excel

In addition, you will work with other team members to deliver learning and development support across the Methodist Connexion.
