We are thrilled to welcome a Fundraising & Administrative Assistant to support our Operational Director at a pivotal time for our charity.

After a challenging period of inactivity due to the impacts of Covid, we are excited to embark on a new chapter, as we are ready to restart our activities in 2025 and to develop our projects and create a positive impact in our community.

This is a unique opportunity for those eager to be part of a project evolving from its early stages to the launching of new initiatives. The volunteer will have ample opportunity to learn about charity structure, develop skills within the third sector and grow with the charity.

We are looking for a passionate and articulate person to fill this role. We welcome applicants who may not have prior experience in the third sector but are enthusiastic and eager to learn. If you lack experience, be prepared to engage in significant training and development to succeed in this position. Please note that we can only accept applications from volunteers who are 18 years or older.

What this position entails

This role combines fundraising development and research efforts to secure essential funding for the charity, along with various administrative duties to assist the Operational Director in ensuring smooth operations.

Candidates should have a genuine interest in our mission and values, possess strong Internet research skills, and demonstrate a good command of spoken and written English. While we recognise the benefits of using AI for certain tasks, we cannot accept applications from volunteers who solely depend on AI for research and writing.

Preference will be given to volunteers who are experienced with social media platforms and can aid the Operational Director in creating and sharing content across our social media channels. Familiarity with Canva is a plus, although training will be provided.

Essential:

As a volunteer-led charity, we prioritise volunteers who want to become part of our team of volunteers rather than those looking for a temporary assignment, as this role will involve a substantial amount of training and development. Therefore, we won’t accept applications from volunteers who cannot commit to at least 5-6 months with us.

One of our most popular services is our Online Support Groups which offer peer to peer support on Facebook, HealthUnlocked and Instagram.

We are looking for volunteers who can manage requests to join our Facebook Support Groups and respond to posts with supportive comments and signposting. This role will continue to facilitate the warm and inclusive nature of the support groups by ensuring members are welcomed to the group and posts across our online support groups are responded to by The Charity, where appropriate.

How can you help?

In this role, you’d be required to get involved in the following:

• Managing Facebook requests
• Creating and maintaining accurate information on our CRM database
• Welcoming new members to the groups
• Offering peer support by responding to posts
• Flagging posts or comments to the group admin if you have any concerns
• Support with additional online tasks that help to deliver The Charity’s Support services

This is remote role where you can volunteer from home. As a charity we can help thousands of cats each year thanks to the generous donations from our supporters. Raising funds is a key role in our charity, helping to raise the vital funds needed to help more cats and kittens in need.

As a fundraising volunteer, we will support you every step of the way to ensure your time at Cats Protection is a positive and rewarding one. Whatever time you can give really does make a big difference We have lots of exciting activities to choose from for example attending a fundraising event, fundraising online, promoting fundraising activities on social media, handling administrative tasks, or contributing to the development of new fundraising ideas. Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive HR Assistant to support our HR operations. This role is essential in ensuring smooth day-to-day HR functions, assisting with recruitment, compliance, and general HR administration. The ideal candidate will have strong organisational skills, an interest in human resources, and a passion for working in the charity sector.

Key Responsibilities

Recruitment and Onboarding

• Assist with job postings, candidate screening, and interview coordination.

• Support the onboarding process for new volunteers and employees, ensuring all necessary documentation and induction materials are provided.

HR Administration & Compliance

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee and volunteer records.

• Ensure compliance with relevant employment and volunteering regulations.

• Assist with general HR administrative tasks, including using Monday. com for record-keeping and task management.

Policy and Employee Support

• Support the implementation of HR policies and procedures.

• Act as a point of contact for HR-related queries from staff and volunteers.

Qualifications and Experience

• Some experience or knowledge of HR functions is desirable.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to handle confidential information professionally.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and HR systems 

• CIPD qualification or working towards one is advantageous but not essential.

Personal Attributes

• Passion for working in the charity sector and supporting children and young people.

• Highly organised, proactive, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.

• A willingness to learn and develop HR skills.

Introduction

Do you care about the future of the countryside in North and East Yorkshire?  Do you have skills and experience in supporter development/fundraising that you could bring to our work?  CPRE North and East Yorkshire are looking for a Trustee and Supporter Development Lead to contribute to our important work protecting our beautiful local countryside and green spaces.

Who we are

CPRE campaigns nationally and locally for positive solutions which safeguard the long-term future of our precious countryside. At national level, the charity produces in-depth research and sound arguments to press government, Parliament and other decision-makers to support our countryside, be it national landscapes or simply much loved local green spaces, through policies which ensure:

- The right development in the right place

- Active support to improve biodiversity and 

- Countryside protection from climate change impacts and contribution to climate change solutions.

Here in North and East Yorkshire, the largest of the CPRE regions (6,900 square miles!), we have a successful track record of enabling residents and community groups to help shape development in ways that enrich the countryside around them. We also use our planning expertise to proactively campaign for local authority planning policies that safeguard and enhance our beautiful and varied landscapes.

The role

Our small but energetic team of volunteer Trustees enable people to protect the countryside they love and enjoy the benefits it brings wherever they live.  But with your support we can do even more! 

In joining us as a Trustee on the Board you’ll have a general role in developing the charity in line with our strategy and, together with other Trustees, ensuring compliance with Charity Commission and other legal and governance regulations.  However additionally as our Lead for Supporter Development you will use your specialist knowledge to inform and guide the Trustee Board in this area and coordinate and drive forward related activities to meet agreed aims.   As part of this remit, you will also oversee the recruitment of a Communications and Supporter Care Officer (a brand new role) and have ongoing responsibility for communicating organisational requirements and providing feedback to the individual once engaged.

+Trustees initially serve a three-year term and may serve up to six years in total. 

What we need and what’s in it for you

You don’t need to have prior Trustee experience but we are looking for applicants with manager/senior level expertise in Supporter Development/Fundraising.  By volunteering with us you’ll be using what you know to help find positive solutions for the major issues facing the countryside and the environment as well as being part of a group of people who share your passion for the countryside.  Our friendly team will provide you with initial training and support to develop in your role.
