Who we are

We are a small, lively and expanding charity promoting the personal development of young people in partner schools, through challenging activities that they design, plan and finally undertake adult free. We invite students (usually in groups) to develop their own challenges, something they want to do but which is well outside their ‘comfort zones’ and to be responsible for every stage of them: we provide planning support, risk management, and expenses funding. Our award winners have climbed the highest UK peaks, cycled to Paris, performed plays at school, harnessed green power via a bike, among many other imaginative and ambitious projects.   

Who we are looking for

We are looking for an energetic, talented and reliable candidate to coordinate our schools’ outreach team, inspiring high-quality applications for funding from Year 12s. We are at an exciting stage of growth, now in 20% of London schools, so there is great scope to shape our strategic direction, including cultivating our alumni network of previous award winners.  We are looking for competent leader, ideally with experience of risk and physical challenge, and strong administrative skills, who is comfortable working with schools. He/she will be keen to work with a growing charity, and to support young people usually with a poverty of experience and opportunity.

The post is up to 4-5 days per week, based in Southwark, with frequent travel to schools across London. The salary is £30,000 – £35,000 pa pro rata depending on experience. Flexible working considered.

Main Job Focus

• The COO ensures that all operational governance, finance and HR matters of the BSG are dealt with effectively and to the highest standard.

Key Responsibilities

• Work closely with CEO and Senior Management team to develop and implement the charity’s strategy

Main duties

Form a close working relationship with the Marketing and Finance teams

Lead the development and delivery of the Outreach Services strategic plan

Salary: £30,000 - £35,000, non negotiable and dependent on experience.
Location: This is a remote role, with a requirement to attend the UK Covid 19 Inquiry as frequently as possible when it is sitting, and on key days such as the opening of Modules or when high profile witnesses are called.

Growing Hope is a charity providing free therapy for children and young people with additional needs in partnership with local churches across the UK. Job Purpose 
Growing Hope is a national charity with a growing number of clinics across the UK. This operations role will provide support across the Growing Hope national staff team. This will include support with administration, finance, fundraising and training. This role is key in enabling all the functions of the national charity to run smoothly and effectively. The role will be based in King’s Cross with occasional events outside of the office.

Main Duties and Responsibilities 
Duties and responsibilities will be discussed and developed as the charity continues to grow. It is anticipated that this time will be flexible and adjusted according to the needs and priorities at the time. Specifically the role with include: 

IT administration

• Administration of IT systems, logins and spreadsheets for the team, volunteers, staff and freelancers (keeping these up to date and amending systems as required).
• Ordering and setting up IT hardware and software for individuals joining the team.
• Oversight of IT systems used by Growing Hope including ticket tailor, jot form, mail chimp, Microsoft office, google adverts and tracking. Supporting with problem solving when issues arise. 
• Overseeing and training others in Canopy (clinic administration software) and helping support and problem solve with using this. This includes liaising with a freelance software developer to manage the development project.

HR administration

• Oversight of the recruitment checking process for new volunteers, trustees, freelancers and employees. This includes carrying out DBS checks, calling referees, chasing for references and communicating with individuals as they start with Growing Hope.
• Management of the ‘internal news’ list in order to track individuals working closely with the charity. 
• Writing, drafting and sending out HR letters, contracts and contract variations. 
• Organising internal events on behalf of the team including away days, training days and ad hoc events. 
• Organising online training as required for members of the Growing Hope team.

Office Support

• Overseeing the day to day office and building use including the alarm, maintenance visits, wifi, printer and other equipment. This includes liaising with other individuals who have office use.
• Liaising with the Director of Operations around the use of the office.
• Ordering office supplies as required, ensuring office space and storage is kept organised. 
• Supporting with external events planning including finding venues, sponsorship and items needed.

As our Trusts Fundraising Officer, you’ll be an inspiring storyteller whose enthusiasm for our work shines through in your writing. You’ll play a key role in researching new funders, crafting compelling funding applications, and ensuring we meet reporting requirements for existing supporters.

Your work will involve developing impactful case studies and gathering evidence to show the need for our services to help secure sustainable funding. About the Role

This role will lead on the day-to-day operation of the accounts receivable, credit control, accounts payable and cash management functions.  You will be required to work closely with the financial controller and other members of the Finance Team to ensure that processing in these areas is complete, accurate and compliant, and supports the timely preparation of management accounts. You will also work with colleagues from across the organisation and key external stakeholders to ensure that income is received, cash is held and monitored following the Charity’s internal financial controls, and all legal and regulatory requirements are complied with.

There will be a need to exercise good leadership and management skills and be able to prioritise and delegate effectively to the Finance Assistants.

Key responsibilities include:

• Lead the day to day operations of the sales ledger function
• Responsible for ensuring invoices are raised on time and in line with agreements with funders
• Responsible for the collection and recording of all non-rental income, in accordance with the charity’s income and internal controls policies
• Main point of contact for queries regarding non-rental income sales invoices
• Monitor all cash transactions and ensure they are recorded on the Finance system on a timely basis
• To lead on the day to day operations of the purchase ledger function
• To manage the preparation of the weekly payment run, ensuring that all due items are included
• Review nominal ledger activity and post journals for on a timely basis to ensure ledger information is accurate and complete in line with month end timetable
• Responsible for the accurate preparation of month end reconciliations for allocated balance sheet codes including Fixed Assets, bank accounts, debtors, accrued and deferred income

About You

You will need to have the following skills and experience:

· Part-qualified accountant or extensive and demonstrable experience in a variety of financial roles

· Experience in the preparation of accounts to trial balance stage

· Credit control experience

We’re looking for a Team Support Officer and PA to provide PA support to our Director of Programmes and provide administrative support to the Programmes team’s delivery of work. Our small, ambitious team works in a collaborative and supportive way. A big focus of the role is prioritisation and planning, so you’ll support the Director of Programmes, Head of Impact & Effectiveness and wider team to prioritise, forward plan, manage diaries and prepare for meetings. This is a great role for someone wanting to develop their administrative experience and exposure to board and executive level working. You will have responsibility for supporting a Trustee level grant making committee. You’ll get exposure to the strategic overview of the Charity and insight into managing teams, grant-making and charity operations. You’ll quickly see the impact you can make within the team to improve our effectiveness and ways of working; and what we’re working to achieve as a charity. 

Maudsley Charity works primarily with South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust and the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience, King’s College London, as well as a range of voluntary and community organisations to fund ideas, big and small, that drive service improvement and support people who experience mental illness. 

The Charity operates primarily within the four boroughs served by South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust (Croydon, Lambeth, Lewisham and Southwark), but the work we fund has the potential for wider impact at both national and international levels, through the sharing of the outcomes with the wider mental health community. The Charity is committed to ongoing development and learning about how to make an impact. 3. Support Internal Audits: The GRC Officer coordinates internal audits, collaborates with auditors, and ensures compliance with industry standards.

4. Legal Point of Contact: As the first legal point of contact, they advise staff on corporate compliance matters, including security assessments and risk control investigations.

5. Regulatory Compliance: The Officer reviews the company’s compliance with existing and new regulations, identifies deficiencies, and provides necessary mitigations.

In summary, the GRC Officer will ensure that the Trust operates within legal and regulatory boundaries while managing risks effectively.

The role will work closely with the Human Resources Manager and other Central support team members and sits within the Finance, Risk and Administrative Team.

The ideal candidate will have a robust, current understanding of risk management practices, compliance protocols, and governance structures, with recent relevant experience in a similar role.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a University Access Officer to join a fantastic education charity based in London. 

Salary: £26,400

Job Location:  3 days based at a School in Greenwich, 2 days working from home. 

The charity’s mission is to support students from disadvantaged backgrounds to access top universities, through a unique combination of tuition and in-school mentoring. The University Access Officer mentors GCSE students, delivering group workshops, mentoring and coaching them on how to access and transition to university. 

This is an exciting opportunity to foster mentoring relationships with students who will likely be encountering such support for the first time. This allows for early intervention, guiding the students to make decisions which will lead to successful and fulfilling choices at a top third university. The University Access Officer is in a position to open up a world of opportunities to the students which is extremely rewarding.

Key responsibilities include:

• Engaging with students in school and enrolling them onto the programme
• Matching students with volunteer tutors
• Monitoring student attendance to tutorials and devising innovative solutions to encourage attendance
• Assessing student progress towards being able to make successful university applications
• Uploading information onto the Salesforce database (training is provided)
• Building and managing relationships with volunteer tutors to ensure they have a positive experience of the programme
• Working with school staff to ensure their cooperation and timely completion of activities contributing to the smooth running of the programme
• Chairing and presenting at termly school meetings with Senior Management to report on programme progress.
• Supporting the delivery of tutor training and attend university site visits, approximately 3 times a year including occasional Saturdays and weekday evenings. Paid time off in lieu is provided.

The successful candidate will be able to communicate and influence with impact at all levels, delivering projects and managing administration accurately. You must be skilled in building and maintaining excellent relationships, be resilient and adaptable and have the ability to lead and manage change to embed the programme in schools.

About Fobzu

Fobzu was established in 1978 and is dedicated to achieving international support for Palestinian universities, educators and students in their work to defend, build and grow a flourishing and self-determined higher education system, which is essential to the realisation of freedom and progress for the Palestinian people. 

Position Overview

The Programme Officer will support the planning, implementation, and evaluation of Fobzu's advocacy and awareness, and building UK-Palestine higher education links programmes. This role involves working closely with the director, partners, managing projects, and ensuring the effective delivery of initiatives aimed at mobilising support for Palestinian universities and raising awareness about the challenges faced by Palestinian students and educators.

Key Responsibilities

1. Advocacy and Awareness Programme

• Assist in organising webinars and in-person events.

• Undertake research for regular briefings and publications. 

• Help in the delivery of workshops to educate stakeholders about the challenges and opportunities within Palestinian higher education.

• Contribute to work amplifying the voices of Palestinian students and educators through various channels, including Fobzu’s newsletter, social media, events, and written publications.

2. Building UK-Palestine Higher Education Links Programme

• Assist in the development and expansion of Fobzu’s work fostering academic collaboration and exchange between UK and Palestinian higher education institutions.

• Work with the Director and partners to develop resources designed to facilitate academic support and collaboration.

• Support the organisation of Fobzu’s annual conference dedicated to promoting partnerships with Palestinian universities, building on the success of the previous year’s conference.

3. General Support and Responsibilities

• Support Fobzu’s mission and values.

• Work collectively as a part of a team while also taking responsibility for delegated tasks.

• Adapt to the flexible working of a small organisation.

• Follow Fobzu’s organisational policies and processes.

• Provide essential administrative support to the Director and Trustees.

• Monitor and report on the organisation’s KPIs. 

• Assist the Director in donor reporting.

Skills & Qualifications

Essential

• Bachelor’s degree in Education, International Development, Social Sciences, or a related field.

• Minimum of 1 year of experience in programme management or related field, preferably within the non-profit or education sector.

• Strong understanding of the contemporary social and political reality for Palestinians, awareness about the educational context in Palestine and the challenges faced by Palestinian students and educators.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.

• Strong organisational and administrative skills.

• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to sustain and develop professional relationships.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant software.

Desirable

- Master’s degree in a relevant field.

- Experience working with international partners and stakeholders.

- Fluency in Arabic.
