Every three minutes someone in the UK develops dementia: a progressive and complex condition that can be devastating for the whole family. One in two of us will be affected by dementia in our lifetime – either by caring for someone with the condition, developing it ourselves, or both.

Dementia UK is the specialist dementia nursing charity that is there for the whole family. Our specialist nurses, known as Admiral Nurses, provide free, expert advice, support and understanding to help families care for their loved one. Purpose of the job/About the role

Join our Delivered Services team as an Admiral Nurse and bring your specialist dementia nursing expertise to support family carers, people affected by dementia, and professionals who require specialist advice. You’ll be a key member of our team, providing biopsychosocial support through our National Dementia Helpline and Virtual Clinic appointments.

In addition to your core responsibilities, you’ll have the opportunity to lead and support other clinical projects across the charity, benefit from monthly clinical supervision, and participate in a range of learning opportunities to support your ongoing professional development.

As an Admiral Nurse, you’ll be responsible for providing nursing support and expertise, offering practical guidance to colleagues, the general public, those with dementia, and others in supporting family and relationship-centered approaches to dementia care. You’ll also lead and coordinate shifts as required, providing clinical supervision to others and assist with the development, evaluation, audit of the service.

To be successful in this position, you’ll need to be an active Registered Nurse on the NMC register with a post-registration qualification or training in dementia care or a relevant subject. You will have significant experience of practicing as an Admiral Nurse or dementia specialist nurse and previously worked with people who have dementia and their family, carer and supporters in different settings.

Strong communication skills are essential, as is a proven track record of providing high standards of clinical leadership and specialist nursing support. You should be adept at providing clinical advice, clinical supervision, and advocating for family carers.

Main Purpose of Role

The Senior People and Culture Manager is a key member of the Charity’s management team. What does the Global Grant Manager, Finance & Operations role involve? 

The Global Grants Manager is a critical role at CPI, primarily focused on enhancing the operational efficiency and financial compliance of our grant funded programmes. Reporting directly to the Acting Global Director of People, Finance, and Operations, this position requires a strategic thinker with a strong foundation in finance and grants management, who will work closely with programmatic teams and partner with stakeholders across the organisation. 

The role will involve working directly with large global funders, as well as directly with sub grantees and suppliers on CPI programmes. This role will also provide overall finance support to our Europe team in collaboration with our Global Senior Associate, Finance and Operations. Our managers have overall responsibilities, obligations and duties around finance, budget performance, and strategic development. They create protocols and policies needed to help with organisational and programmatic delivery. This role will be responsible for receiving and reviewing partner expenditures and reports and preparing consolidated financial reports for donors as well as be accountable for day to day grant management and administration.

As someone whose work will include building relationships with everyone at CPI, you will be responsible for making sure our global teams are set up to succeed and assist in keeping our workplace a great place to work for everyone. This role will largely be focused on our Europe team, however you will support all CPI regions worldwide. 

Key responsibilities include: 

Finance & Accounting

• Support efficient operations in accounts receivable and accounts payable in Europe and other CPI regions where required

• Support donor compliance during reporting by using the right templates and budgetary ceilings as applicable 

• Assist the Finance & Operations team during the month end process to ensure that all balance sheet items are all accounted and reconciled with their respective subsidiary ledgers and/or schedules and all contra or clearance accounts are cleared at the end of every month

  • Support our project teams to ensure programmes are implemented in line with Donor policies and requirements 

  • Lead the sub granting process for all implementing partners and consortiums in collaboration with the relevant regional/project teams

  • Ensure that the necessary information is documented, tracked and updated on the appropriate financial transaction and reporting tools

  • Lead on the preparations of budget versus actuals to support ongoing grants decision, identify deviations in implementation progress and flag delays/request for support

  • Proactively update Senior leadership on progress, risks and financial status

Could you be our new Brand & Marketing Manager?

We’re looking for a creative, dynamic and enthusiastic comms professional to join us on our mission to ensure no child or young person ever has to grieve alone. As our Brand & Marketing Manager you will be at the forefront of growing and developing the Winston’s Wish brands and find new and innovative ways to reach the children and young people who need us. This is a varied and fast-paced role where no two days will be the same.

From sharing the voices of our incredible Youth Ambassadors far and wide, to marketing fantastic fundraising initiatives to identifying new opportunities to reach young people, you’ll play a fundamental role in ensuring bereaved children and young people know they can put their trust in Winston’s Wish when their worlds are turned upside down by grief.

Main Responsibilities

• Marketing outreach and project management
• Work alongside the Director of Marketing & Communications to action the charity’s strategic marketing plan.
• Lead a team of marketeers in planning, delivering and measuring effective projects to drive revenue and reach across multiple areas of the company.
• End to end management of comms plans to ensure projects are delivered to a high standard using data and analysis to refine and develop plans in order to reach targets.
• Oversee marketing activity across all channels, with a strong emphasis on developing data led digital marketing. Ensuring the team are constantly analysing, refining and optimising.
• Write influential and fluent copy aimed at different target audiences to engage and ultimately drive interest.
• Actively identify and motivate the team to recognise opportunities to market Winston’s Wish to reach our identified audiences.
• Work with the charity’s approved freelance designers to oversee the creation and delivery of marketing assets and artwork, adhering to our brand style and tone of voice.
• Support the PR & Marketing Officer to identify and respond to media requests and create opportunities that grow the charity’s reputation. 

Brand Management

• Work alongside the Director of Marketing & Communications to embed a cohesive and engaging brand identity to create memorable and consistent experiences for all.
• Develop our visual identity in a way which brings our cause and purpose to life in the most engaging and inspiring way possible.
• Grow and manage our database of brand and marketing assets and materials.
• Use market insight and analytics to continuously develop our brand to position Winston’s Wish as a leader in our sector. 

Team Management & Administration

• Work alongside the Director of Marketing & Communications to lead our marketing and communications team, ensuring there is a clear direction of travel, an understanding of purpose and an exemplary culture embedded to drive future success.
• Line manage the Digital Marketing & Communications Officer and PR & Marketing Officer.
• Effectively manage expenditure across all projects and campaigns in line with agreed expenditure budgets.
• Effective reporting as required in line with agreed objectives and KPIs.
• Ensure that the recording of permissions and consents is adhered to in line with our policies and procedures and in accordance with GDPR. 

All Staff

• Contribute to the vision and mission of Winston's Wish; whilst embedding the values into your daily work activities.

• Contribute to the overall success of the charity’s fundraising needs by providing case studies, attending events and adding value to the experience of our supporters as required.

Person Specification

Essential

• Ability to be passionate and inspiring when communicating the work of Winston’s Wish.
• Excellent copywriting and editorial skills across multimedia channels.
• Experience of processing and turning complex information into compelling and relevant stories and content.
• Strong demonstrable experience of brand management and delivering strategic brand projects.
• A confident brand guardian with experience of developing and implementing brand guidelines, providing clear and well-reasoned feedback on a wide range of creative.
• A confident project manager, able to develop and roll out a strategic marketing plans that reach our intended audiences.
• Lead, enthuse and inspire colleagues at all levels to get behind our brand and marketing activities.
• Experience of managing and motivating a team.
• Ability to show empathy for the children, young people and families we support.
• Curious, creative and innovative, unafraid to challenge the status quo.
• Strong commitment to the values of Winston’s Wish – We are caring, hopeful and honest; we respect others and we try new things. 

Desirable

• Project management experience.

Business Development Manager

35 hours per week

£36,000 PA

3% contributory pension

25 days holiday pro rata per annum in addition to public holidays.

The post-holder will be based at Headway Surrey’s centre, at Headway House, 21 North Road, Guildford, GU2 9PU.  Occasional remote working may be offered either permanently or ad hoc with the CEO's prior agreement. 

3 months probation

On the job training will be provided at all times to help develop your skills and knowledge. 

After successful completion of probation, the post holder will be required to undertake a self-study Brain Tree Training Course, called Cognitive Rehabilitation for Professionals which will be paid for by Headway Surrey.  Assignments, exercises, and self-tests are included throughout the coursework—some of which are mailed or emailed to a course tutor for feedback.  Headway Surrey will provide 2 hours a week paid study time.  The course should be completed within 6-12 weeks.

Training on Headway Surrey’s CRM database, Charitylog will be given.

A clean driving licence must be held. Car mileage allowance for travel to meetings in connection with work

JOB PURPOSE:   

The main purpose of the role is to:

• Be part of Senior Management Team (SMT), attending weekly SMT meetings.
• Lead the development of an income generation strategy and the development, implementation and monitoring of income generation plan, including all fundraising initiatives, grant applications and other initiatives.
• Work with the Services Manager to obtain metrics on existing services and Finance Manager for costings and make recommendations to CEO to continue, modify or stop services.
• Work closely with the Services Manager to develop new services, including detailed market strategies and pricing plans. Obtain funding to implement new services.
• Develop Marketing & Communications Plan; implementation, collateral, brand, generate and nurture leads.
• Identify new prospects and collaborations and implement.
• Oversee social media and website activities
• Networking and build external relationships, to benefit key strands of income generation, client referral and volunteer support
• Manage hospital Link Worker and connected volunteers.
• Development of Fundraising Plan; development of all fundraising initiatives and grant applications; implementation and monitoring of grant applications and fundraising initiatives. Liaise with freelance fundraiser.
• Produce, monitor and review performance metrics and income for use with fundraising and marketing. 
• Deputise for CEO as and when required

The Business Development Manager will play a key role in achieving Headway Surrey’s objectives to achieve our vision and mission:

Mission – Headway Surrey supports people with head injuries, their families, and carers, and promotes understanding of the implications of head injury throughout Surrey.

Experience:

• Proven track record of success in business development, sales, fundraising and marketing.
• Proven track record for generating revenue through new business development.
• Proven track record of managing fundraising staff and volunteers to securing funding.
• Experience of writing and implementing Fundraising, Marketing and Communication Plans.
• Experience of building effective and productive relationships with a range of stakeholders, preferably spanning the voluntary, corporate and statutory sectors.
• Successful track record of staff and resource management experience in delivery objectives.
• Proven ability to engage and influence at senior level.
• Experience of representing and promoting organisations in public forums and meetings with internal and external stakeholders.

To undertake an induction program given by the CEO. Observation of sessions, training on CRM, telephone system and other processes/systems.

To provide occasional support in the wider administration duties of the organisation as directed by the CEO.

• In order to realise this ambition, we need to increase our fundraised income for the period 2024 -2027 to £1.6million.
   
• Through this new organisational role, you’ll proactively create and grow fundraising income opportunities with individuals, community groups and grant giving trusts and foundations. You'll be at the heart of our local community, bringing our cause to life and building lasting donor relationships.
   
• Through your fundraising expertise, you will have a proven track record of building relationships with individuals, community groups, trusts and foundations and other donors to achieve and exceed annual income targets and KPI’s. You’ll have the capacity to create and craft compelling proposals and appeals that successfully engage and attract donations from new and existing supporters.

Through the design and delivery of excellent, engaging and regular stewardship communications and powerful fundraising appeals, you will grow our income and pool of individual supporters making one off or monthly donations. You’ll also explore and implement ways of promoting Eastbourne Food Bank across the community to successfully attract an ever-greater number of individual donors.

• You’ll engage with local community groups, associations, events, schools and businesses in order to grow Eastbourne Foodbank’s community fundraising reach and income.
   
• Through excellent, comprehensive and considered research, you’ll identify and prioritise a pool of potential Trusts and Foundations funders for Eastbourne Foodbank and, working with colleagues, you’ll develop authentic, compelling, creative and winning funding bids that can successfully engage new and existing Trusts and Foundations funders.  
   
• You’ll work closely with and support the CEO of Eastbourne Foodbank in maintaining and evolving the existing relationship with the Big Lottery Fund and developing collaborative fundraising activities and joint bids with five other Trussell Trust Foodbanks across East Sussex.

The salary will be £38k to £40k depending on experience
