We’re the MS Society – a community of people living with MS, volunteers, scientists, campaigners, listeners, organisers, ambassadors and fundraisers. Join us today so that together we can stop MS.

This is an exciting opportunity to join our Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) team. As a volunteer you will play a crucial part in helping us deliver our EDI work. By attending four monthly meetings you will provide advice, feedback, guidance and personal opinion on our work. You will act as a bridge between our EDI activity group and our EDI reference group.

The EDI reference group is a group of people affected by MS who helped develop our EDI strategy and now help support our work towards its delivery. The EDI activity group is a staff group who have responsibility and accountability for the delivery of our EDI strategy.

Equality, Diversity and Inclusion are at the heart of our work. We work with volunteers, professionals and people with lived experience of MS to guide and direct our approach to EDI.

This role is a home-based role, which will require attending four online monthly meetings, and up to an hour of pre-reading before each one. One of these meetings will be between 12-5pm.

Our fundraising team leaders have the exciting and varied role of inspiring our fundraising volunteers to plan and deliver local fundraising events. Using their passion and imagination, they oversee a small team of fundraising volunteers who come together to raise the vital funds needed to cover costs such as veterinary bills and food. Our fundraising team leaders support their team of volunteers in all aspects of their roles, making sure our volunteers are happy, confident and supported.

What can you expect to be doing?

• Supporting and encouraging a team of fundraising volunteers in the Crawley, Reigate and district area
• Planning fundraising events and activities with your team
• Allocating tasks before and during fundraising events
• Keeping financial records from fundraising events
• Encouraging and promoting a professional image of Cats Protection 
• Following policies and guidelines and ensuring licences and permits are obtained for events

A bit more information about this role and the team

• This is a flexible role. The amount of time you offer can work to your availability and convenience.
• There may be opportunities for your activities to be fully remote and/or admin based if you'd prefer.
• You will need your own transport if you wish to attend events, ideally a car or van since items, stock and equipment will usually be needed.
• We ask that you complete training to support you in your role. This can be completed online if you have access to the internet and the necessary device (computer/laptop/tablet etc). Support can be offered or paper versions of much of the training if needed.

Caring Friends is a partnership project between the Community Volunteering Team and The Unpaid Carers Team at Cardiff Council. This project is looking to recruit a team of volunteers who are passionate about providing friendship and support to Unpaid Carers across Cardiff.

• Empathetic people who are passionate about providing support to Unpaid Carers; 

• An understanding about who an unpaid carer might be, or a willingness to learn; 

• People who are warm and friendly, and love building relationships with people; 

• People who love learning new things and are committed to finding out more about services that can help people who are unpaid carers; 

• Access to a phone or computer in order to undertake befriending activities;

About SOS!SEN

SOS!SEN is an independent UK charity dedicated to helping families secure the right educational support for children and young people with SEND. Our team of over 70 volunteers with firsthand experience provides legally-based advice and practical guidance to confidently navigate the SEND system. We support parents, carers, and young people through every phase of their journey. With a 95% success rate at Tribunal and 1,400 helpline calls answered yearly, we empower all children to reach their full potential through the provisions they deserve. We also raise awareness of SEND challenges through training, campaigning, and lobbying, ensuring that legal duties to children are fulfilled.

As an Events & Fundraising Volunteer, you will play a crucial role in planning, organising, and delivering events while also supporting our fundraising initiatives. This exciting opportunity will make a real difference to families with SEND by strengthening our community and expanding our support.

Our challenge
Our Support and Information team offer a wide range of inclusive and accessible services to support those diagnosed with a brain tumour and their families.

One of our most critical services is our Support and Information Line, which is open between 9am-5pm, Monday—Friday. This service offers a place for people affected by a brain tumour diagnosis, to ask questions or raise concerns about a diagnosis, and how to support a loved one. We continue to see an increase in people accessing these services, and strive to work in smarter ways to manage this increase.

How can you help?
We’re looking for volunteers to help us make sure the Support Line runs more efficiently, by answering calls and asking a small number of specific questions to ensure the caller is transferred/triaged to the most appropriate support for them. This role also has the opportunity to develop into providing support to the community about specific areas.

• Answer incoming calls to the Support Line with empathy and understanding
• Ask specific questions to understand the caller’s support needs and transfer to the appropriate teams
•  Accurately record information about the call onto our secure database
• Assist the support team in specific project areas where appropriate
• Respond to support emails from our community
• Support our digital support team with our peer support groups on Facebook • The role could develop into providing support over the phone regarding specific areas

Time commitment

To ensure we have volunteer cover for the full Support Line opening hours, we are looking for volunteers to commit between 1-4 hours a week. However, are open to talking about the regularity of these shifts.

The available times that we currently have are:

• Monday, 9am—10am
• Monday’s, 1pm-5pm
• Tuesday’s, 9am-10am
• Tuesday’s, 12.30pm-5pm
• Wednesday’s, 9am-10am
• Every other Thursday, 9am-1pm
• Friday’s, 1pm - 5pm

Due to the continuous training involved, we would ask that volunteers commit to a minimum of six months spent volunteering with us. This is a remote role where you can volunteer from home. You will have regular contact with our Support and Information team who, while facing tough challenges along the way, look out for each other and nurture an inspiring, positive team environment.

Practical considerations

You’ll receive a full online induction to The Brain Tumour Charity and specific training for the role, as well as training on the use of our database and phone system.

You’ll receive weekly supervision after each shift and ongoing support through online webinars, emails and telephone calls, from a team member within the Support team. You’ll have the opportunity to keep in touch and gain support from other volunteers in the same role.

Incoming support call numbers may vary, so some shifts may be quieter than others. We’ve created a number of different activities that you can get involved in between calls, if you would like to. This role has the opportunity for development to other areas of the support team— guidance and training will be provided for this.

We carry out reference checks for all individuals who will be volunteering with us on a regular basis. Volunteers will also be required to complete some internal data protection and disclosure documentation before commencing the role. Volunteers must be over 18. 

Acting as a representative of Blood Cancer UK in the local community you will be hosting bucket collections at venues such as supermarkets, sports clubs, stations, high streets, or similar public venues. You will be speaking with members of the public about Blood Cancer UK and encouraging them to donate in a friendly and engaging manner. Please note the minimum age for this role is 18 years old.

Every year over 40,000 people are diagnosed with blood cancer in the UK. The single best way to beat blood cancer is through research to improve treatment. And the more of it we fund, the more breakthroughs we will see, and the more lives we will save.

Blood Cancer UK Community Collection Volunteers play a vital role in strengthening our reach and engagement in local communities - raising awareness of our research, health information, and support.

You will develop new skills, expand your knowledge, and make a significant contribution to improving the lives of people with blood cancer by helping raise vital funds through fundraising activities. The more collections we host, the more people affected by blood cancer we can reach and the more funds we can raise. You'll be part of a large team of dedicated and passionate Community Collection Volunteers to help us achieve this goal.

Key activities include:

• Submitting applications to host and deliver bucket collections at local venues.

• Attending and supporting bucket collections in your local area.

• Encouraging others in your network to volunteer their time to support your collection.

• Greeting the public and speaking about the work of Blood Cancer UK.

• Encouraging people to donate and signposting them to our services.

• Paying in all donations received either online, at Barclays Bank or at your local post office.

How will I be making a difference?

The funds you raise as a Community Collection Volunteer will help to beat blood cancer by investing in research that:

• develops cures for those who have blood cancer, now or in the future,
• continually improves the treatment and care for those living with blood cancer today and,
• aims to stop blood cancer before it starts.

Hosting a collection at your local supermarket or sports club enables us to reach lots of people and collect lots of donations. Every penny raised will make a BIG impact.

• £150 could fund a researcher to analyse 120 blood cell samples – any one of them could hold the key to a new discovery.
• £210 is enough for us to send expert patient information to everyone diagnosed with blood cancer today.
• £500 could fund a research nurse for three days – ensuring patients have a hand to hold while they are testing new treatments.

How much time do I need to give?

This is an all-year round role, with flexible opportunities to fundraise and raise awareness to suit your availability.  You can expect to spend a few hours, at a time convenient to you, applying to venues and encouraging others to join you. We hope that you host 3 – 4 collections per year. Each collection will take approximately 2 – 4 hours.

Support, guidance and keeping you safe

At Cats Protection we believe our volunteers should be happy and confident in their roles. We provide support and guidance from our National Cat Centre and through our regional and local volunteer groups and teams. We offer engaging online and face-to-face training, expenses and have policies and processes to help volunteers get the most out of their time with us.

Age UK Notts are seeking individuals who would like to be considered as a volunteer for our Companion Service.

Volunteers will be supporting people remotely, in their own homes and in the community within Nottingham and Nottinghamshire and ideally, we ask all applicants to provide a minimum of 1 hour volunteering a week.

The companion service volunteer can choose to be:

• A companion telephone/video caller                                                               

• A companion within the person’s home

• A companion outside the person’s home

• Or a combination of all three.

Examples of the type of support the service offers include:

• Telephone / video calls for an older person/s on a regular basis at a mutually agreed time for a friendly chat. 

• Supporting an older person/s hobbies and interests or simply chatting with them in their own home on a regular basis.

• Supporting with digital access & building confidence skills & motivation to access the opportunities of the internet.

• Supporting the person outside of their home e.g., by accompanying them on a walk, to the shops, to a café, garden centre, theatre or cinema or other social activities / community groups. 

• Where appropriate, supporting the older person to access other services through information and signposting or referring to the Companion Service Coordinator for support.

We are looking for the following skills/interests:

• Individuals with a genuine interest in the wellbeing of older people who are committed to volunteering on a regular basis.

• Commitment to complete our Volunteer Report Form accurately and regularly. 

• Ability to travel for visits in the local community either by car or public transport for those volunteers who choose to participate in this type of activity.

• Digital literacy for those volunteers who choose to participate in this type of activity.

Please do note, however, that at the moment we are not looking for Volunteer Telephone Companions.

We are looking for volunteers with good daytime availability in specific areas of Nottingham and Nottinghamshire which are currently NG4, NG5, NG6, NG9, NG17, NG18, NG19, NG20, NG25

A bit about this role

This role is based in the Mid Kent area covering Maidstone, West Malling, Aylesford, Larkfield, Leybourne, Bearsted, Paddock Wood, West Kingsdown, Wrotham, Hollingbourne, Harrietsham, Lenham etc

As a charity we are able to help thousands of cats each year thanks to the generous donations we receive from members of the public. Our fundraising team leaders have the exciting and varied role of inspiring our fundraising volunteers to plan and deliver local fundraising events. Using their passion and imagination, they oversee a small team of fundraising volunteers who come together to raise the vital funds needed to cover costs such as veterinary bills and food. Our fundraising team leaders support their team of volunteers in all aspects of their roles, making sure our volunteers are happy, confident and supported.

• Planning fundraising events and activities with your team
• Allocating tasks before and during fundraising events
• Keeping financial records from fundraising events

Position Overview:

Children With Voices, a dynamic and community-driven charity committed to supporting vulnerable individuals and families, is seeking a motivated and skilled Volunteer Bid Writer. This role is instrumental in securing funding opportunities, grants, and partnerships to ensure the continuous growth and success of the charity's initiatives.

Responsibilities:

1. Research and Identify Funding Opportunities:

- Conduct thorough research to identify potential funding sources, grants, and partnership opportunities aligned with  Children With Voices' mission and projects.

2. Proposal Development:

- Collaborate with the charity's leadership team to gather information on projects and programs requiring funding.

- Develop compelling and well-articulated grant proposals, ensuring alignment with donor guidelines and requirements.

- Craft persuasive narratives that effectively communicate the impact of Children With Voices' activities.

3. Grant Application Submission:

- Prepare and submit grant applications within specified deadlines, adhering to all application guidelines and requirements.

- Maintain accurate records of submitted proposals, deadlines, and communication with funding bodies.

4. Relationship Building:

- Establish and maintain positive relationships with potential donors, grant-making organisations, and other stakeholders.

- Engage in effective communication to convey the charity's mission and project goals.

5. Collaboration and Coordination:

- Work closely with the fundraising team and project managers to gather necessary information for proposals.

- Collaborate with other team members to ensure the integration of programmatic and financial data in grant applications.

Qualifications:

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

- Previous experience in grant writing, proposal development, or related fields is desirable.

- Strong research skills to identify relevant funding opportunities.

- Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines.

- Detail-oriented with strong organisational and project management skills.

- Passion for the mission and values of Children With Voices.

Time Commitment:

Flexible, with an estimated commitment of 5-10 hours per week.

Location:

This role can be performed remotely, with occasional virtual or in-person meetings as needed.
