Interim Deputy Director of Programmes - WasteAid
WasteAid is an international non-governmental organisation that works in low and middle-income countries to implement environmental and economic empowerment programmes, focusing on support to nascent green businesses and grassroots entrepreneurs. The work improves the livelihoods of some of the poorest and most marginalised, promotes circular economy innovation and contributes to a cleaner and healthier future for all.
Our programmes focus predominantly on the reduction of plastic, organic, textile and e-waste pollution in areas of the world that have no formal waste management systems.
The organisation promotes and shares locally appropriate, evidence based inclusive practices, supporting and empowering others to take positive action. We partner with public, private and community-based organisations in countries where the lack of waste management systems is harming the environment, economy and society. We achieve our goals through our3 flagship programme approaches, currently delivered in The Gambia, India, South Africa, South Sudan and Uganda.
- Our Wastepreneur programme for those individuals and micro businesses trying to make a living within the circular economy and make a difference in their communities.
- The WasteAid Circular Economy Network which brings together national stakeholders, local authorities and the private sector to tackle local waste challenges through networking, training, infrastructure support and innovation challenges.
- First Step Resource Management Programmes focus on a whole system approach to divert waste from landfill supporting community behaviour change, basic infrastructure, collector group training and end market development.

INTERIM DEPUTY DIRECTOR OF PROGRAMMES JOB DESCRIPTION
This is an interim position, but the position will become permanent in due course through a separate recruitment.

This role is a member of WasteAid’s Senior Management Team.
Purpose of Role
The purpose of this role is to ensure the effective management and delivery of WasteAid’s global programme, providing leadership, capacity building and support to WasteAid’s international programme team and ensuring effective resource mobilisation. This role reports to the Director of Programmes and supports that role in scaling, trialling and evolving WasteAid’s current programme approach.
Major Responsibilities:
Leadership and Representation
• Provide leadership and supervisory management for WasteAid’s programmes team, including mobilisation and stewardship of resources, programme quality accountability, and performance management.
• Participate actively in country programme management, coordination, and strategy meetings with Director of Programmes and members of the country team.
• Work closely with Finance colleagues to ensure timely budget development, financial planning and cost management.
• Support the Director of Programmes to actively engage with donors, partner organisations and external stakeholders to ensure WasteAid is strongly represented.
• Conduct regular field visits to support programme teams
Supporting Strategic Direction, Program Quality and Growth
• Provide cohesive leadership to WasteAid’s global programme teams ensuring that priorities and opportunities identified are in line with organisational strategy and approach which includes scaling of current programmes and the identification of further areas of intervention.
• Work closely with the Head of Strategy and Impact to support the programme team with regarding tools and strategies to ensure that programming is based on input from communities, local partners and local/national stakeholders, a thorough understanding of the context, and technical best practices
• Work with Director of Programmes and colleagues in the country programme to identify funding opportunities and support the development of competitive, responsive proposals; meet with potential partners (and donors as appropriate) to discuss current and potential funding opportunities.
• Work with the Senior Management Team to develop programme budgets, which reflect a detailed understanding of situational parameters, beneficiary needs, available resources and technical possibilities including partnership capabilities.
• Working collaboratively with the Senior Management Team, support MEAL approaches to adapt and implement appropriate monitoring and evaluation systems that enhance programme quality, increase effectiveness and measure results.
Staff Performance Management and Development
• Supervise and mentor direct-report staff, including communicating clear expectations, setting performance objectives, establishing a supportive environment while emphasizing accountability, providing regular and timely constructive performance feedback, and leading documented semi-annual performance reviews.
• Maintain open and professional relations with team members, promoting a strong team spirit and providing oversight and guidance to enable staff to successfully perform in their positions.
• Promote and monitor staff care and well-being. Model healthy work-life balance practices. Support appropriate interventions in response to identified staff care needs of staff.
• Work with HR to identify and implement recruitment and retention strategies.
Grant Monitoring & Partner Management
• Supervise the Grants Finance Officer.
• Support and supervise implementation of strong Project Management Cycle processes and tools including budgeting and planning and grant meetings such as Budget vs Actuals Meetings, Grant Opening, Mid-Term, and Closing Meetings, ensuring follow up on action points.
• Through the Grants Finance Officer ensure that all programmes are compliant with their respective donor regulations
• Support the Director of Programmes in having a solid partnership strategy for appropriate programmes.
• Ensure programme staff proactively maintain positive relationships with partners, including ongoing capacity building and mentoring,
Job Requirements:
· Educated to degree level, masters in a relevant subject would be desirable.
· At least 10 years of progressively responsible professional experience managing complex international development programming, ideally with a climate or environmental element.
· Demonstrated successful leadership experience managing a multi-disciplinary team and cross-cultural dynamics.
· Strong diplomatic and coordination skills.
· Demonstrated ability for accurate analysis of complex issues, strong decision-making, and translation of programmatic priorities into operational strategies.
· Proven track record of leading multi-location teams.
· Repeated, successful experience delivering appropriate levels oversight for a portfolio consisting of a variety of complex, donor-funded projects.
· Demonstrated experience in developing successful funding proposals
· Strong oral and written communication skills, with ability to express ideas and concepts clearly and persuasively with senior internal and external stakeholders.
· Established capacity to deal with ambiguity in stressful situations.
· Ability to respond to multiple priorities in a timely manner, producing high-quality outcomes.

We are seeking a highly organized and proactive Direct Marketing and Fundraising Officer to join our Public Fundraising team. This role is integral to the smooth operation of our fundraising activities, particularly during appeals, where your coordination skills will be crucial.
Key Responsibilities:
Appeal Coordination:
- Assist the Direct Marketing Manager - Acquisition in keeping member agency fundraising directors and key suppliers up to date in the run-up to and during appeals.
- Update the fundraising and marketing team budget tracker, ensuring accurate financial tracking throughout the appeal process.
- Support the setup and management of Appeal Toolkits and Appeal Hubs, providing essential assets to staff, member agencies, and suppliers.

- Support the Director of Fundraising and Marketing in organizing and managing the Fundraising Director’s Group meetings, including diary coordination, preparing presentations, and taking minutes.
- Provide general administrative support to the Fundraising and Marketing team, including setting up monthly team meetings, organizing agendas, and coordinating away days.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Proven experience in project coordination and administrative support, ideally within a fundraising or marketing environment.

Are you our new Digital Communications Officer?
We are looking for a creative social media native who is comfortable not only with presenting UWC to different audiences but also collaborating and supporting our different stakeholders in doing so. You will join the Communications and Engagement Team at the UWC International Office (UWCIO) which consists of six people and report to the Digital Communications Manager.
As a Digital Communications Officer, you will create, develop and deliver content across all UWC International’s social media channels in line with our social media strategy and lead on sourcing or creating the relevant, required reporting to demonstrate engagement and impact. You will also support UWC’s truly global network of volunteers through digital resources, templates and training. In doing so, you will use your digital communications skills for the better, contributing to the success of the movement and supporting young people to access transformational educational opportunities they would otherwise not have dreamt of.
Part of the larger Advancement Team at UWC International, the Communications and Engagement Team provides the UWC movement with strategic leadership, support and advice in the area of internal and external communication, PR, promotion, marketing, crisis communications, alumni and wider community engagement, and partnerships with other organisations. The Team has a coordination and support function for teams across the UWC International Office, as well as other UWC stakeholders globally, such as UWC schools, colleges, national committees and governance bodies. Alongside your business-as-usual tasks, you will support the Digital Communications Manager in coordinating with the advancement and admissions teams at each of the 18 UWC schools to run ad-hoc campaigns and manage external stakeholders and partners.

- Seek and fulfil a variety of engagements in the London and the South East which engender loyalty and acquire short- and long-term income contributing to the fundraising target of £405k per year.
- Maximise income from Churches and Events
- Participate in All We Can’s presence at several conferences and events each year, inspiring current and new supporters through stalls, workshops, and stage time.
- Build and develop new strategic relationships with ministers, lay workers, and key volunteers in Methodist Churches across the country, encouraging them into deeper income-generating engagement with All We Can.
- Collaborate with others in the Public Engagement Team to develop new resources and fundraising products to engage supporters and generate income
To be successful in this role, you will:
- Have experience of community fundraising involving relationship-building, planning, and generating a response to a call to action with experience of community fundraising in a Christian context being desirable.
- Be a passionate and convincing public speaker, with experience of speaking/presenting in a Christian context; being a qualified preacher and/or worship leader in a church tradition would be an advantage but is not a requirement.
- Have experience of generating and following up on new opportunities. Experience of project management in a professional context will be an advantage but is not a requirement.
- Have excellent oral and written communication skills and proven ability to communicate both stories and data.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including an ability and willingness to communicate to diverse audiences. To be comfortable communicating to Christian groups and individuals.

This opportunity comes at a very exciting time. CARAS will be piloting a 4 day week from the 1st of January- 30th June 2025, meaning that all staff will be working 80% less time for 100% pay. Full time employees will reduce their hours to 4 days per week. The leadership and Governance Officer is a key role that enables CAFOD’s Leadership (the Executive Team) and Governance (the Board of trustees) teams to fulfil their remits well through sound administration, organisation, and relationship-building skills.
The post sits at the centre of CAFOD and will have a broad overview of key issues affecting CAFOD’s work and the management mechanisms in place to address them. The post holder will have proven experience in providing sound administrative and organisational support at a board/senior management level. They will have experience in setting meeting agendas, following up on key actions and experience in forward planning with excellent project management skills to support the Board of Trustees.

Key Responsibilities
Ensuring effective Governance (60%)
- Acting as Secretary to the Trustees and Committees, ensuring that the annual meeting cycle (Governance Calendar) is followed, records of meetings are kept and that external submissions (e.g. the annual report, serious incidents, and other reporting) take place in a timely manner.
- Ensuring Trustee and Trustee committee meetings are well-planned (dates, papers, agendas, attendance, etc.) and well-run (including guidance for Chair, minuting, follow-up, action tracking, etc) and that follow up actions are monitored and undertaken.
- Liaise with Trustees on governance matters, including due diligence requests, and events, planning a schedule of Trustee travel to international programmes.

- Manage the policy review processes and document management with support from the Leadership and Governance Assistant.

- To be responsible for CAFOD Trustee’s Annual Report being produced in a timely and accurate way, commissioning a consultant.

Job Summary
CAAS provide an ADHD and Autism Support Service for the 8 boroughs of NW London, from our base in Eastcote, with a team of Support Workers. Our work includes offering information, advice, and support to ADHD / autistic people, their families, and professionals in NW London, with the aim of improving quality of life and developing neurodiverse-aware communities. Some of the support is offered through one2one meetings, some of the support is provided through groups and courses which aim to increase understanding and awareness, and provide opportunities for peer support, and some of the support is offered through training and workshops to educate professionals and drive for accommodations to be made to services to allow greater access for our client group.
The Family Team Lead will assist the Family Service Manager in overseeing the operational running and leadership and management of our Family Team at our centre in Eastcote.
The Family Team Lead will be responsible for the line management of some of our Family Support Workers, as well as the direct delivery of services, including being the lead facilitator on some of our parenting courses. As such, we are looking for a friendly, organised and hard-working individual. The role requires strong administrative skills, excellent communication skills and a drive to ensure everyone who seeks support from us has the best possible experience. If you’re passionate about supporting neurodivergent people and their families, then this is an ideal opportunity for you.
There is no requirement for any experience of, or understanding of, autism / ADHD, as we will provide training on the conditions. This role will best suit someone who is very organised, who is able to task switch easily between line management, project management, client facing support work, group facilitation, course content creation and strategic and operational planning activities, and who is able to interact with a high number of clients and staff each week in order to ensure the sufficient number of appointments are provided to meet our funder requirements.
The ideal candidate will possess experience working with vulnerable individuals and demonstrate confidence, composure during crises, quick thinking, and adaptability. A genuine acceptance of diversity and a keenness to learn are essential.
This role would suit someone with a key worker, social worker or teacher background.

Line Management
· Organise and lead regular meetings for team members, including case management and monthly performance review meetings, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

· Our drop-in support service is the bedrock of our family support work, and we have offered drop-in support sessions for parents for over 20 years. Our drop-in support service has grown in the last year, and now encompasses daytime and evening groups, both in our centre and online. You will act as the lead facilitator for the overall project, sharing best practice across the different elements of the service, evaluating its effectiveness for those we serve.

The Role

As a Training and Engagement Coordinator to the Scotland Team, you will provide effective and efficient co-ordination of resources and support, primarily related to our accredited courses, Idaa and DACA, as well as our open course and bespoke training, when capability allows.
