The Managing Director, Finance & Operations is a key role on our Senior Leadership Team providing strategic oversight of all finances, HR and operations for our UK and US parent entities and overseas branches. Working closely with the CEO and with your leadership colleagues, as well as with our Board, you will provide sound information, advice and challenge on organisational strategies and plans to ensure we can deliver the greatest impact. This includes ensuring we have robust controls and due diligence processes in place to offer assurance to our funders and to confidently balance risk with the needs of our partners. Through leadership of the Head of Human Resources & Operations, you will also advise on global HR strategies so that we can attract and retain the best people and create a culture where our staff have a clear sense of belonging and feel truly valued for who they are. Additionally, you will also provide strategic oversight of our safeguarding, legal, governance and company secretarial matters.

We are looking for an outstanding, qualified accountant with exceptional strategic and technical finance skills, including knowledge of UK/US accounting principles, with experience of working within an international non-profit environment. You will be comfortable presenting complex financial information and advising a range of senior stakeholder groups both internally and externally, with the credibility to build trust and influence decision making. You will bring experience of leading on governance for an organisation and ideally have prior direct strategic knowledge of other functions such as HR and safeguarding. With an authentic and inspiring leadership style, you will also be able to attract, develop and motivate high performing and diverse teams, while empowering them to be the best that they can be. Above all else, you will be able to demonstrate a strong commitment to our vision, mission, values and goals.

This role is based in the Warrington Office, UK. You will be required to attend the office for a minimum of 3 days per week with the option to work remotely for the remaining 2 days per week.

Job Title: Service Manager

We are recruiting for a Service Manager who is passionate about supporting survivors who are impacted by domestic abuse and other gender-based crimes. This is a multifaceted, fast paced, and exciting role where you will join our team in Derby to lead on the delivery and development of high-quality refuge and outreach services for survivors of domestic abuse and other gender-based crimes. 

The post holder will provide line management and high-quality support to the direct reports in line with Refuge’s policies and procedures. This will include providing supervision on complex and high-risk cases, overseeing operational emergencies, and ensuring high standards of casework. The Service Manager will lead on the delivery of the multiagency aspect of work, working jointly with the Refuge teams and wider stakeholders to deliver best services to the survivors. 

Candidates must have proven experience of providing direct emotional and practical support to vulnerable people, managing, and motivating staff, managing casework as well as working within multiagency setting.  In addition, you must have an excellent knowledge of domestic abuse and other gender-based violence and its impact on survivors.  You will have knowledge of relevant Criminal and Civil law legislation, as well as Housing and Health and Safety legislation.

As part of this role, you will be required to participate in an out-of-hours on call rota.

About You: 

To be successful as the Young Persons Advocate you will need the below experience and skills: 

The post holder will have proven experience of working with children and young people and may have a background in youth work. They will have an excellent understanding of violence against women and girls, risk management and of best practice within the young people’s sector. As an experienced youth worker who has worked with young women and girls with complex and multiple needs, the post holder will be skilled in risk management and safety and support planning, remaining calm in a crisis and in handling sensitive information on a daily basis.

Experience of direct work with young women and girls who have experienced abuse, and of working within safeguarding procedures is essential for this post, as is the need to adopt and promote a strong partnership approach to service provision.

What we do 

Time & Talents is a lively, busy community centre in the heart of Rotherhithe, SE16.  Set in a leafy heritage building, and ‘T&T2’, our second venue in Surrey Quays Shopping Centre, we offer something for everyone. With a history of 138 years of supporting people of all ages in Rotherhithe and Bermondsey, we bring people together for mutual support, fun and friendship, with a wide range of services and activities for older people and other adults, along with volunteering and other accessible activities for all members of the community.

T&T carries out a wide range of activities and events, but we need support and growing our voice. We have made some big changes in our ways of working since Covid, shifting and responding to community need and sector landscape. We intend to keep working flexibly to deliver the most impactful work possible and build our reach across social media, digital newsletters, website updates, while maintaining traditional communication like community noticeboards. You’ll play a key role in ensuring that local people know about what we do, connect with our services and activities, and join us in celebrating our successes.

• Develop and deliver the twice-weekly Green Team gardening group for older adults 

• Build partnerships across T&T’s Older Adults team to ensure that participants have the support they need

About you 

The role needs someone with experience of gardening projects and working with older adults in creative, energetic, passionate ways. You need to have lots of ideas and be highly ambitious, but also be able to make your ideas happen.  

Most of all, we are looking for someone who cares deeply about the welfare of older adults and their carers, and is able to react quickly and appropriately to emerging issues – especially to the more serious care issues we inevitably encounter. While appropriate training will be given, we are looking for candidates with some social care experience ideally.

About Blackburn & Darwen Youth Zone

Blackburn & Darwen Youth Zone, opened in May 2012 as an independent Charity, but we are proud to be part of the growing OnSide Network.

We work with young people aged 5-19 (up to 25 with additional needs) and offer youth work, health and wellbeing and employability services, giving young people somewhere to go, something to do and someone to talk to. Whilst our building and activities provide a hook for young people to initially engage with us, the relationships they develop with our team of Youth Workers ensures they return night after night. We pride ourselves as being one of the leading youth organisations in Blackburn and Darwen.

Our service to young people is focussed around a state-of-the-art, multi million pound facility that is purpose-built and remains dedicated to young people. This facility has recently undergone a 3 million pound transformation thanks to the Youth Investment Fund. This funding has allowed us to redevelop our Blackburn site to be able to offer a wider range of services for young people whilst celebrating the history of the building. Our newly developed Fusebox is the site where electricity was first generated in Blackburn. Alongside our history we also have a football pitch on our roof, this is one of Blackburn’s best kept secrets!

Our services for young people are needed more than ever and despite the prevalent challenges around the lasting impact of the pandemic, young people feeling isolated and the cost of living crisis, our team continues to provide a home from home for young people.

The Role

As a member of the Executive Leadership Team, our Chief Operating Officer will work closely with the CEO and senior managers to ensure the Charity delivers its vision and strategic objectives.

You will drive the development and execution of the Youth Zone’s operational plans and delivery of the annual business plan. You will do this by supporting, leading and motivating the senior management team, taking responsibility for the efficient and effective delivery of internal operations of the Youth Zone, including the back office, administrative functions and the offer to young people. The Chief Operating Officer will deputise for the Chief Executive by engaging with a wider set of external stakeholders, collaborators and partners.

Duties and Responsibilities - Detailed

• To contribute as a member of the Senior Leadership Team to the development and delivery of the Charity’s vision, values and organisational purpose
• Provide strategic leadership and management of every aspect of the Youth Zone’s day to day operations (covering both front-line delivery and back office) in line with the direction of the CEO, Youth Zone’s strategic goals, and requirements of the Board of Trustees
• Provide strategic direction and offer proactive challenge and support to continuously drive up standards across:

- Service delivery for children and young people

- Project management

- Finance

- Facilities

- Administration support,

• To actively manage and monitor budgets as assigned and contribute to budget development
• Lead on performance reporting and management systems to enhance forecasting, impact assessment and decision-making
• Lead on workforce supervision, appraisals and development planning across the whole organisation
• Support the CEO to develop the risk register for the Charity so trustees can easily identify major issues and ensure effective mitigation procedures are in place and regularly reviewed
• Work closely with the SLT to ensure the Charity is fully compliant with all relevant reporting requirements and ensure necessary processes and procedures are in place, including:

- Compliance with funding and contractual requirements

- Compliance with reporting requirements to Board of Trustees

- Conformance to data protection legislation

- Conformance of facilities and operation to Health and Safety legislation

- Compliance with all HR legislation

• Be responsible for the line management of our Head of Youth Work, Head of Programmes, Head of Targeted Service.
• To undertake any other reasonably required duties as instructed by the Chief Executive, in addition to the role-specific tasks and responsibilities detailed above.

Remuneration Package:

Salary: £50-£59,000 spending on experience

You will contribute 5% of your gross earnings, while the Youth Zone will contribute 3%. About the role

The Data Team Manager will be responsible for ensuring high quality data collection, reporting, quality assurance, analysis, and maintenance of Drive programme data, including data collected via the projects Case Management Systems. They will be responsible for excellent internal and external relationship management, supporting the delivery of high-quality data and information. They will manage delivery of programme design, delivery, interpretation and training on datasets and associated analytical techniques.

The post holder will deputise for the Head of team, where appropriate, attending meetings and liaising as required with external partners, stakeholders, and front-line services. The NBN Trust is a nature charity with a difference. Our mission is making data work for nature. We’re looking for someone with a data or digital background, with a track record of overseeing the delivery a high-quality user experience through digital products and commercialising data or digital services. Passion for nature conservation is essential, as well as a desire to engage with the many natural history specialists who contribute data to the NBN Atlas. We’re looking for an ambitious individual with an agile, entrepreneurial mind-set, who can drive income generation and growth.

The ideal candidate understands what an excellent data platform looks like and how to continually evolve this to keep up with trends and developments. Attention to detail and ability to horizon-scan is key in overseeing the Trust’s projects and key work streams and ensuring good governance. The NBN Trust is a small team, with a big responsibility, undergoing a period of change, and your role will be to steer the staff through this change and deliver the NBN Trust’s strategy.

We’re a 100% remote-working charity, so you’ll need to be comfortable and effective working from home. The whole team meets up four times a year for in-person team meetings (in London and other locations around the UK).  The post holder may be required to work occasional weekends and evenings.
