About us
Who we are
Our vision Poverty is an outrage against humanity. It robs people of dignity, freedom and hope, of power over their own lives. Christian Aid has a vision - an end to poverty - and we believe that vision can become a reality. Our essential purpose • to expose the scandal of poverty • to help in practical ways to root it out from the world • to challenge and change structures and systems that favour the rich and powerful over the poor and marginalised.
We are the international development agency for 41 sponsoring churches and keen to serve and work with other churches, too. We were established so that the sponsoring churches and others ‘could respond to Christ’s command to care for all in need’.
Our values are rooted in our Christian belief and are based on our understanding of relational theology, which asserts that human beings are called to have a special relationship with God and in turn to have a particular relationship with one another.
