Role Overview
As a member of the Senior Executive Team you will be responsible for translating the strategic direction of the charity into tactical plans for evidence and research to achieve the charity’s overall aims. In leading on the delivery of the Crohn’s & Colitis UK research strategy, you will be heavily focused on providing oversight of our programme of research grants and establishing networks, partners and alliances to drive increased investment in research. The remit will also involve oversight and responsibility for the day to day management, direction and leadership of the Evidence and Research teams.
About You
You will have acquired a high level of experience of delivering programmes of evidence and insight in one or more of the voluntary, medical, health or research sectors, coupled with a solid understanding of the UK health research environment. You will have developed and operationalised strategies, be an accomplished team leader, and have a proven ability engage and influence a diverse range of senior stakeholders

Our Location
We are based in Hatfield, Hertfordshire, so we are easily accessible by road and rail. In this role, there is plenty of scope for working from home, although there will be times when you will need to be at face-to-face meetings. You will be required to attend meetings in Hatfield/London twice a month, as well as two Directorate days each year. In addition, the charity meets four times annually at it’s office in Hatfield (or a location in London) for its’ ‘All Staff Together’ days of which attendance is mandatory.

We Are Survivors provide survivor-focused therapeutic and advocacy support to male (including Trans and Non-binary) victims/survivors, and their loved ones, of sexual harms. We have developed a three-tiered approach to services and underpin everything we do with a ‘trauma and recovery’ framework pioneered by Dr Judith Herman.
We are currently commissioned to deliver trauma-informed therapy services in 15 prisons across the Northwest of England and we need your help delivering these services in the following estates:

Believe you are right for this role?
You will be a qualified counsellor / psychotherapist who holds at least a Diploma in Counselling / Psychotherapy or equivalent and be registered with BACP or equivalent (preferably an accredited member). You will understand issues relating to trauma, be able to work as part of a team and feel confident working in a prison setting.
In return for your time, experience, and commitment to the organisation, you will receive an annual salary of £27,810; 33 days annual leave (increasing annually by 1 day to max of 30 days); birthday leave; company sick pay; monthly clinical supervision; pension contribution; a range of training opportunities; and access to different benefit schemes.

Background:
Street Child (SC) is a rapidly growing, child-focused, humanitarian, and development organisation. In 2023, Street Child celebrated reaching over 1.5 million children across 25 countries over its fifteen years of existence. This was accomplished with and through a growing network of more than 200 national and local actors.
Street Child has been operating in Mozambique since 2019, focusing on Cabo Delgado province. Its portfolio currently includes around $1 million dedicated to child protection and education in emergencies programming. Most programme implementation is done through local partners, supported by a team of 10 team members.
Role Purpose:
As Country Director for Street Child in Mozambique, you will lead our team in achieving our mission to keep all children safe, in school, and learning. Reporting to the East & Southern Africa Regional Director and working closely with Country Head of Programmes, your primary goals will be to build a high-performing and cohesive team, provide visionary leadership, drive programme growth, and cultivate strategic partnerships that drive our mission forward.
Street Child operates on the principle of equitable partnership, creating space for local actors to deliver impactful services within their communities. We’re looking for a manager to lead on our two brand new Art Projects: Art Group and Art Hub. This is an exciting and varied role for someone who is creative, has a genuine passion for working with people and who has good project management skills.
The right candidate will have experience of taking original art, creating it into sellable products e.g prints, putting onto cards, mugs, tea towels (to name a few possibilities!) and successfully marketing for sale and/or they will hold a relevant degree with the ability to demonstrate that they have the skills to do this.
This role is full time (37.5 hours Monday - Friday), we would consider part time pro rata (4 days / 30 hours per week) if the right candidate preferred this.
About the Projects
Art School: Background Information to the Art Projects
We ran a Community Art School for adult artists with learning disabilities for two years from 2022 – 2024 thanks to funding from the National Lottery. Over the course of the project we worked with over 40 artists with learning disabilities & autism. Art School was a non-directive art group, a place where neurodiverse adults met to create art that was important to them and reflected who they are as individuals. Neurodiverse people can feel pressure to ‘mask’ who they truly are to fit into society’s accepted norms. We wanted to offer a space where neurodiverse adults could authentically express themselves. This group was led by an autistic art facilitator.
Art Group
We have started a new weekly Art Group in partnership with the charity East London Textile Arts (ELTA). This is a mixed ability group where artists with and without learning disabilities from ELTA and Hopeful Futures come together to work on heritage themed projects for exhibition. You will be responsible for the overall management for the Hopeful Futures part of this group.
Art Hub
Our new Art Hub is all about ‘our work is valuable to our community’. You will be responsible for the running of two weekly art hub sessions at Rosetta Arts in Westham where seven artists with a learning disability at each session will create their own pieces of work through the guidance and support of a qualified art tutor. You will be responsible for helping each artist to develop their work into sellable products and raising their profiles as individual artists.

About the role:
The Legal Officer works closely with the Legal Team (Legal Director and Legal and Parliamentary Officer) to support our policy and advocacy work and with the Senior Legal Projects Manager in a key role to coordinate strategic legal advice and litigation. The Legal Officer also works closely with the rest of the ILPA Secretariat, including the Chief Executive, Content and Digital Channels Manager, Training Officer, and with Trustees, ILPA and SLAC members, the SLAC Steering Committee and co-convenors of ILPA’s Working Groups.
You will regularly analyse information, including legal and practice updates, and disseminate information orally and in writing to the public and to ILPA members. You will assist with answering ILPA members’ legal, policy and practice-based queries, raising systemic issues with government departments as appropriate, and provide flexible, tailored, technical and practical support for practitioners and non-practitioners, who include public bodies, professional organisations and non-governmental organisations (NGOs). You will assist in the preparation of legal policy and parliamentary briefings, and ILPA’s responses to consultations, calls for evidence, other official submissions and correspondence with government bodies. You will also help represent ILPA in meetings and work collaboratively with colleagues across the sector in pursuit of ILPA’s influencing aims.

You will work with the Senior Legal Projects Manager to develop partnerships with NGOs and legal professionals around the UK. Each SLAC group will hold four meetings per year as well as emergency meetings where necessary. You will be responsible for the minute taking of all SLAC meetings. About you:
The position would suit a self-motivated individual who is passionate about the sector and is looking to further their career in immigration policy or advocacy, including by making the transition from immigration practice to work on immigration policy and strategic legal advice and litigation coordination.
You may be keen to be working at the heart of the systemic changes following Brexit, recent significant legislation, including the Nationality and Borders Act 2022, Illegal Migration Act 2023, Safety of Rwanda (Asylum and Immigration) Act 2024, attempts to remove people seeking asylum in the UK to Rwanda, government initiatives to “reduce net migration” such as the increased Minimum Income Requirement for family visas, and the recently introduced Border Security, Asylum and Immigration Bill.
