Our culture and values
Our CIC was founded on and motivated by Christian faith but our vision was and is to serve all local people with learning disabilities and autism regardless of their faith or beliefs, to benefit Newham’s diverse multi-faith and multi-cultural community. We are a values based organisation which means that our values guide and underpin all of our decision making and everything that we do. We are also a neurodivergent affirming organisation which means that we believe people’s differences do not need to be ‘fixed’ but rather understood, supported and positively validated. Our values spell LIGHT: Love; caring for each other Integrity; doing what we believe in Gentleness; building trust High expectations; seeing everyone achieve Time; not hurrying.
Equality, diversity and inclusion policy
With over 65% of our staff, volunteers and directors being either neurodivergent or having a physical or mental health need, we consider ourselves to be a disability led organisation which is incredibly important to us. We are a recognised disability confident employer. We are committed to increasing the diversity of our staff team to ensure it is representative of Newham’s population which is the most ethnically diverse Borough in London. To support this, we practice annonymised recruitment to minimise the impact of unconscious bias, we would also like to particularly encourage candidates of the global majority to apply for our open vacancies.
