Our Advocacy services we provide advocacy direct to children and young people in a variety of situations. Advocates around the country support children and young people to get their voice heard in decisions about their lives. This may be through the telephone helpline or through an advocate working directly with a child, for instance, to support them at a review meeting or to help them make a complaint about their care. Coram Voice provides visiting advocacy services to most of the secure units nationally, to Secure Training Centres, Young Offender Institutions, psychiatric hospitals, residential special schools and children’s homes.

About the Role

You will work directly with care experienced children and young people and those on Child Protection Plans. You will provide advocacy in the way that the child or young person prefers, which may include face to face support in the community and remote advocacy via phone or Teams.

You will empower and support them to ensure their voices are heard within decision–making processes that affect their lives.

You will be a capable ambassador for Coram Voice with the ability to engage effectively with professionals, carers, other stakeholders and, most importantly, children and young people.

he role of the Operations Officer (Licensing and Compliance) is to support the coordination, development and delivery of licensing and compliance processes and procedures across the Award Association.

The Operations Officer (Licensing and Compliance) will assist the Senior Licensing and Compliance Manager and other members of the Operations Team to ensure that, through the consistent and proactive use of standards, policies and quality assurance processes, backed up by effective licensing, the intellectual property and good reputation of the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award is effectively protected.

The role will work closely with Operations Directors and Operations Managers to assist predominantly with compliance management for all Award Operators, including National Award Operators (NAOs), Operating Partners (OPs) and Independent Award Centres (IACs).

Key Responsibilities

• Assist Operations Managers and the Senior Licensing and Compliance Manager with NAO, IAC and OP licence reviews/compliance checks including but not limited to providing administration support, drafting content where required and reviewing reports.
• Assist the Senior Licensing and Compliance Manager with issuing of and drafting correspondence in relation to all licence documentation (terminations, licence extensions, agreements, and certificates etc).

Reporting to the Director of Training and Quality, the Head of Quality will have responsibility for maintaining high quality standards across all operations relating to the delivery of Bikeability, the government’s national cycle training programme.

The post-holder will be familiar with the vocational qualification landscape and will hold (at least) Level 4 qualification in quality assurance.

They will ensure that quality is at the heart of Bikeability by development and delivery of the quality assurance system.

Quality Assurance Management  

• Develop with Director of Training and Quality the annual plan of quality improvement and training standardisation for the Bikeability Industry. This may include but not limited to: 

• Writing and continually improving IQA guidance for training providers. This may include written guidance, video, webinar and other resources 

• Developing and leading CPD for instructors and training providers 

• Developing procurement guidance for grant recipients to assess quality 

• Assimilating learning from complaints and serious incidents into quality improvement and training standardisation plan 

• Keeping informed around any legislation or guidance changes that require amends to the Bikeability Delivery Guide. Ensure the guide is updated and communicated effectively 

• Leading guidance, training and support to Quality Consultants to ensure standardisation and consistency of visits and reports 

• Introducing and leading on training for training providers’ IQA leads 

• Running the quarterly meeting for training providers’ IQA leads

Reporting to the Head of Promotion and Comms, this role will take a lead on all media and PR activities. With a strong news sense, you’ll help develop and execute forward-thinking PR plans and strategies for the organisation, manage our external profile and raise awareness of the work we do, aligned to our vision. 

Responsibilities  

Promotion of Bikeability  

• Implement and manage a comprehensive and proactive PR activity schedule for the Trust, including project managing the production of the annual impact report and delivery statistics 

• Act as the main point of contract for all media and press activity to builds our reputation with the media. Liaising with colleagues, the industry and general public to create stories and case studies to share good practice with the Industry and work with social media and internal communications 

• Develop and foster strong relationships with key media outlets in the sector and journalists, broadcasters and editors to secure coverage that helps to influence key decision makers and engage our audiences in our work 

• Scan effectively for breaking news stories relevant to our areas of work and work with the social media officer to use our channels for comment 

• Working with colleagues in public affairs agency and our research team, support public affairs activity 

• Scan for areas of reputational risk and support the CEO with preparing for and handling reputational risk 

• Lead on crisis media enquiries and messaging, implementing the necessary checks and actions to protect the Trust’s reputation and brand. 

• Brief and train key spokespeople, developing key messaging and Q&A 

• Analyse and report on media activity for internal teams, external partners and our board, including leading on relevant reports to committees.

• Using monitoring tools to provide insight and measurement of communication activities

• Support briefings for Bikeability staff and trustees for visits, events and media interviews

Person specification 

The successful applicant will have: 

• Expertise in media and PR. 

• A strategic thinker with excellent project management and communication skills. 

• Experience of working with journalists and media outlets, generating and securing strong relevant media coverage. 

• Excellent news sense with extensive experience of producing effective and quick reactive news lines for breaking stories. 

• The ability to develop excellent long-term media and PR strategies to deliver organisational objectives aligned to our vision. 

• Strong judgement and experience of crisis communications. 

• Excellent copy-writing skills and ability to influence.

About the opportunity:

The Tutor Communications Officer will work closely with the Communications and Media Manager to support all aspects of stakeholder communications and engagement at Action Tutoring. The role will require you to develop engaging and motivational content when communicating with our volunteer tutor network, schools and other stakeholders.

The Tutor Communications Officer will develop their data management and analytical skills, when evaluating the impact of communications and maintaining subscriber data. They will also develop detailed knowledge of our e-communications software (Campaign Monitor) to create precise and engaging email campaigns with accurate segmentation of recipients. 

Comprehensive induction and training will be provided. Action Tutoring is committed to providing development opportunities for its staff and, as a growing charity, there are plenty of opportunities to take on new areas of responsibility. 

Key responsibilities of the role: 

• Work with Communications and Engagement teams to create impactful communications that recruit new tutors, re-engage lapsed volunteers, and convert former tutors into long-term charity supporters.
• Maintain and analyse data across our e-communications platforms (ValueText, Campaign Monitor) and our volunteer database (Salesforce) to optimize audience targeting and engagement, while ensuring GDPR compliance and data cleanliness.
• Respond to tutors’ enquiries and feedback complaints as part of managing the communications’ team inbox, whilst supporting the wider team to do the same.
• Work with the Communications and Media Manager and other communications officer to produce interesting and relevant pupil and tutor case studies throughout the year. Collaborate with our Programme Team and your MarComms colleagues to source appropriate case studies from our partner schools and volunteer network.

Salary: £25,235 per annum plus London Weighting of £2,271 per annum (if applicable) 

Contract and hours: Permanent, full-time. We offer flexible hours with 9.30-4 as core hours. A
full working week is 37.5 hours.

We do this through the Parkinson’s UK Excellence Network (PEN), a network of around 6,000 health and care professionals with a shared vision: to build an expert Parkinson’s workforce and improve health and care services for people with Parkinson’s.

We bring together and support health and care professionals to share best practice, network and collaborate, share resources and education, and drive improvements to services for people with Parkinson’s and their loved ones.

Since its establishment in 2015, the Excellence Network has provided networking and collaboration opportunities for professionals across the different regions of the UK. In England, the Excellence Network is moving to a new regional model aligned to the 7 NHS England regions. The regional model in the devolved nations will remain the same: 3 regions in Scotland, 2 in Wales and 1 in Northern Ireland.

To help us deliver this new regional model, we are looking for 2 healthcare professionals to take on the role of Regional Clinical Lead on a consultancy basis.

What will be expected of you in this role

You’ll:

• Be expected to co-opt a multidisciplinary leadership team to support you in your role. This team should reflect the multi-professional composition of regional services, as well as the geography and should include at least one person with Parkinson's.
• Drive engagement and participation with the Excellence Network at a regional level.
• Inspire, challenge and collaborate with the health and social care professional community to drive significant improvements to Parkinson’s services across your region.
• Act as a professional ambassador for the Excellence Network and help represent the professionals in your region.
• Engage with Integrated Care Board (ICB) leaders to help influence the development of your Integrated Care System (ICS).
• Work closely with the Professional Engagement team at Parkinson’s UK to organise and hold engagement opportunities in your region. This will include working with the team to hold and lead at least one in-person meeting in your region per year.
• Attend the annual in-person PEN National and Regional Clinical Leads meeting.
• Support the PEN national calendar of events through attendance or promotion. This includes Excellence Hub meetings and other activities centred around our national priorities.
• Work closely with the PEN National Clinical Leadership Team (CLT) to discuss and review national and regional priorities. Attend a virtual meeting with CLT 2 times per year.

What expertise you’ll bring

You’ll:

• Be a UK-based clinical healthcare professional, working in Parkinson’s or with extensive interest and expertise in the condition, with exceptional interpersonal and influencing skills. Healthcare professionals living with Parkinson’s are also encouraged to apply.
• Have a good understanding of the landscape of health and social care delivery, education and workforce development to support the strategic aims and objectives of Parkinson’s UK.

What you can expect from Parkinson’s UK

You’ll:

• Be formally welcomed and introduced to the Excellence Network and your role as a regional clinical lead.
• Be provided with an introduction pack, which outlines all the activities of the PEN at a national, regional and local level, so that you can gain an understanding of where your role fits in.
• Meet regularly with the Professional Engagement team to discuss and plan activity in your region, working to a co-developed engagement plan for your PEN region. We will be flexible, taking into account your individual needs.
• Meet with the Professional Engagement Lead or Associate Director of Policy & Health Strategy after 6 months in the role for a review meeting and then annually thereafter (or more frequently if required).
• Be provided with a set of resources and information to support you in your role eg. a ready made presentation on the PEN, data from the services within your patch, including relevant data from the UK Parkinson’s Audit.
• Be invited to an annual event for the National and Regional Clinical Leads, to provide updates, training and opportunities for discussion.

Time commitment will be 0.5 days per week (1 programmed activity) to be worked flexibly across the month.

Monthly rate will be based on skills and experience.

Term of consultancy services will be set tenure of 3 years from date of appointment, with an option to extend once for a further 3 years.

We will also ask you/your employer to send across a monthly invoice to the Professional Engagement Manager at Parkinson’s UK and include a short paragraph outlining what you’ve done in the role each month. We can provide an example of this.
