Oasis Community Hub East Southampton are recruiting for an experienced Lead Youth Worker to work alongside the youth and community hub team in East Southampton.  This positive, adaptable and talented youth worker will help us to deliver detached youth work and mentoring. Supporting the development of a team and building youth leadership opportunities.

The role will be focussed on the East Southampton community surrounding Oasis Academies Mayfield and Sholing and the Harefield Hub space. Delivering detached work, alongside other partners using our Oasis Youth van; delivering mentoring in schools and supporting and developing a youth team.

Key responsibilities will be:

· To develop and deliver a youth work programme engaging with young people across East Southampton in school and community settings. To Include:

o Detached provision

o Positive activities

o Wellbeing support

o Mentoring

· To work alongside the hub team to increase opportunities for young people to influence decision making and develop their leadership.

· To line manage sessional youth staff and support volunteers.

The successful post holder must have:

· Proven experience of leading work with young people in formal and informal settings

· Experience working with challenging behaviours and attitudes.

· Understanding of monitoring and evaluation in youth work

· Knowledge of safeguarding practices and health and safety.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Working collaboratively as part of an integral, multi-disciplinary team addressing the physical, emotional and social needs of children and young people who may be neurodivergent, as well as their families using the service
• Maintaining relevant knowledge and understanding of safeguarding standards, ensuring compliance with Norwood’s policies and procedures for promoting the welfare of children and young people as well as vulnerable young adults
• Meeting with children, young people and their families at the centre (or other community settings) or in a remote working environment (adhering to Norwood guidelines) with a view to undertaking comprehensive assessments of individual needs using a strengths-based approach, understanding the impact of neurodiversity, planning appropriate responses in partnership with children and young people and their families
• Working with statutory and other authorities and community organisations to the benefit of the families we work with
• Advising families we work with and support, on relevant legal frameworks, which may affect them
• Monitoring, reviewing and evaluating interventions in collaboration with families and recognising the changing needs/ revising interventions as appropriate
• Enabling those who we are working with and supporting to develop personal skills and strategies to improve outcomes in the identified areas in their life
• Writing reports, maintaining accurate and up to date records on the organisation’s case management system and attending any meetings or case conferences in relation to the children/young people, parents and carers to whom they are providing or have provided a service
• Liaising on behalf of those we are supporting with the Local Authority, the NHS, and other agencies in the public and independent sectors to improve outcomes for the family
• Supporting the child/ young person and their families with financial assistance applications when appropriate

Essential Skills and Experience:

• Social Worker Degree or equivalent
• Registered Social Worker with Social Work England
• Previous experience as a Social Worker either in statutory or voluntary sector Children’s Services
• Understanding of the multitude of needs faced by neurodivergent children and their families
• Sound knowledge of all relevant legislation, statutory guidance and regulations, specifically in relation to safeguarding children/young people and vulnerable adults
• Full clean driving licence, access to a car and be able to use for business purposes

About the Role

As a Support Worker in a Semi-Independent Home, you will have the opportunity of developing authentic relationships with our young people (aged 16 – 21 years old), you will also have responsibility for making sure our residents are safe, providing support, liaison with other professionals and completion of support documents to record information. Throughout the shift you will have the additional support of an on call manager should you have any questions. Lincolnshire Crisis Service have two houses in the county, one in Boston and another in Lincoln, we provide a range of support for people with mental ill health and both work to a recovery model. We have been operating in the area for a number of years and offer a staffed service to our residents aged 18 and upwards. This role does require you to work varied hours as the service is 24/7 and may include some sleep in shifts, these are paid in addition.

Support Workers will provide support to customers to help them develop the life skills they require to meet the assessed needs of the customers of the service. Melbourne View is a 24-hour supported living service with 12 self-contained flats. The service is for people ages 16 and over, people living in Cumbria and people with a primary diagnosis of mental health. The service is tailored to each person with the goal of supporting individuals to manage their accommodation and help them move back into independent living and the wider community. We support individuals to gain or regain skills and confidence to achieve greater independence. We can support to develop coping strategies to best manage mental health and to access community groups. Staff support all aspects of daily living skills and can help access training, volunteering, employment, or further education.

Mind in Enfield and Barnet is a fast-growing charity in North London providing much needed therapy, wellbeing support and advocacy services to people with mental health problems. 

An exciting opportunity has arisen for 2 experienced Crisis Outreach Workers to support Mind in Enfield and Barnet's Family Hubs Service.This role is to support individuals during the perinatal period (expecting and up to 2 years after birth)  presenting at the Family Hubs experiencing mental health crisis and problems gain immediate support

The purpose of the Outreach Worker is to work with adults during the perinatal period (pre birth up to 2 years after birth), including both parents and carers. You will work as part of MiEB perinatal family hub team to identify those at risk of crisis and ensure referral pathways are in place to facilitate rapid engagement

The successful candidates should have a minimum 2 years experience of working with people with mild, moderate and severe mental health issues. Experience of utilising de-escalation techniques, and supporting clients presenting in emotional distress

Undertake initial and continuous assessment of needs and potential risks and agree levels of support and actions to professional standards
Co-develop a positive behaviour support plan with the individual that identifies triggers and actions required to enable positive risk taking through reduced risks
Support customers to claim and receive eligible benefits, deal with relevant agencies to develop life skills, budgeting, financial literacy, and managing finances effectively
Encourage tenants to pay their rent and to ensure that rent accounts are managed effectively
Motivate individuals to prepare and cook healthy meals safely, going shopping and offering guidance on buying balanced nutritious food
Enable customers to improve their skills to manage their day-to-day activities such a making telephone calls, dealing with correspondence, attending appointments and form filling
Support customers to access other services including CMHT, substance misuse agencies and/or work in partnership with other agencies as part of the support planning process
Develop and maintain links with key agencies and service providers in the local community
Lead on an area of specialism (e.g. ETE, health and wellbeing) and build partnerships and develop internal and external opportunities for service-users in this area
Support customers to maintain activities including but not limited to education, employment, training, informal accreditation and volunteering opportunities
Promote customers to develop social skills, positive and healthy relationships and keep safe in a variety of settings

Enhanced Support Workers enable vulnerable people living in a variety of different tenures to manage their tenancies/ licences and move towards greater independence within the community by providing a flexible and individually tailored support package.

This is a fixed term contract, running until 30th March 2025

What you'll do:

Develop knowledge around the local mental health system to ensure customers receive the best treatment available

Lead on an area of specialism (e.g. ETE, health and wellbeing) and build partnerships and develop internal and external opportunities for service-users in this area

Empower customers to ensure they receive the service and benefits they are entitled to

Undertake all administrative work and keep accurate and comprehensive tenant/customer records, to set an example to colleagues of how best to complete paperwork records to professional standards

Encourage and enable tenants to pay their rent and to ensure that rent accounts are up to date and checked regularly and managed effectively in conjunction with the Housing Management team

Being pro-active and displaying good assertive engagement skills. To advocate for their key customers and other service users with the team, the community (where appropriate) and external providers.

Alongside the management team, checking that key health and safety tasks are completed to a good standard and supporting staff with day-to-day troubleshooting and setting best example for quality.

Setting an example of daily best practice and being an approachable figure to voice viewpoints to the management team

Rising Sun Domestic Violence and Abuse Service (Rising Sun) is an independent charity in Kent working to prevent domestic abuse and improve the lives of survivors and their children suffering from its effects. We have an ambitious vision for a world in which women and children live free from actual or threatened domestic abuse and all forms of violence.

Our team provide a range of services to adults and children who’ve experienced domestic abuse. We understand the impact of domestic abuse on survivors and so we listen to individual needs and respond in a trauma informed way. We provide one-to-one support and also deliver therapeutically informed group programmes to help survivors to recognise healthy/unhealthy behaviours in relationships and to understand the impact of domestic abuse. Bringing survivors together validates experiences and enables them to draw strength from one another.

JOB PURPOSE

Liberty House provides housing and support for up to 5 homeless young women aged 16-24 who are single, pregnant or have a young child and have experienced domestic abuse.

The support worker will be required to take on key-working responsibilities for the residents at Liberty House, as well as delivering other support work within the house and within the wider Liberty team. This could be related to pregnancy and parenting, life skills, psychoeducational support, understanding healthy relationships and building supportive peer relationships within the home, and supporting them to live independently.

The post holder will work to provide a secure, stable and homely environment and to act as a positive role model to residents. They will build professional and supportive relationships with residents and colleagues.

The project works to empower residents, providing them with information relating to their rights and enabling them to make decisions based on their options using a trauma informed approach.

As a member of the Liberty Team (16 – 24 year olds), the successful applicant will work collaboratively with the rest of the Children and Young People’s team, as well as the wider Rising Sun team to support other programmes delivered within the organisation.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Service Delivery

• Provide holistic, trauma informed, practical and emotional support to residents of Liberty House through regular 1-2-1 sessions. Develop individual support plans, which address any practical and emotional needs the resident may have, such as accessing benefits, life skills and perform risk assessments where needed.
• Organise and deliver group sessions that focus on life skills and strengthening relationships.
• Encourage the residents in positive parenting.
• Manage relationships within the house, act as a conciliator, arbitrator and reconciler in disputes between residents.
• Ensure residents adhere to house rules.
• Assist with the day to day general running of the house and office, to ensure they are fit for purpose and safe for team members and residents.
• Conduct safety checks around the house. Ensure all faults/repairs are reported and that the Health and Safety Policy is adhered to at all times.
• Comply with organisational policies and procedures and adhere to confidentiality.
• Work effectively in partnership with other agencies.
• Work within our ethos of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion at all times and instil these values in all areas of work, with service users, staff and external stakeholders.
• Encourage residents’ participation in service development, continuous improvement and feedback exercises
• Maintain up to date and accurate records and ensure reports and evaluations are completed as required.

Are you interested in supporting people at immediate risk of rough sleeping and making a real difference to the lives of people who are homeless?

We are looking for people to join this exciting pilot as Night Assessment Worker. The service delivers a new approach to preventing rough sleeping, through the provision of accommodation with onsite specialist move-on support to those who are at immediate risk of sleeping rough. The service will provide a route and support for single homeless clients who are presenting to the Local Authority Housing Options or day centres who have not been sleeping rough yet but who are at imminent risk of this happening.  

Where homelessness cannot be prevented by the council a referral can be made into the Rough Sleeping Prevention Project, which is run across London to support as many people as possible. The service will work in partnership with the local authority to secure onward move-on options e.g. access the council (Private Rented Sector) PRS scheme, advocating for access to supported housing.

In these roles, you will work in our Islington Assessment hub space for up to 15 clients where the team delivers casework and support, provides each person with a comprehensive assessment of their needs and intensive specialist support to secure move on. In the rewarding role of a Night Assessment Worker, you will: 

• Work as part of a busy team environment working closely with those affected by homelessness.
• Provide a safe and supportive environment at night to clients; and support a team of Assessment and Reconnection Workers, with key tasks, such as implementing reconnection or assessment plans and supporting clients in appropriate accommodation. 
• Work on a 2 week rolling night shift rota with an average of 3-4 waking night shifts in a row (shifts are typically 8pm-8:30am).
