Smart Works exists to empower all women who need help getting into work. We are currently in a significant growth phase, doubling the number of women we support to 10,000 women a year by 2025. As such, we require a minimum of 50,000 items of stock from the retail sector that will enable us to dress clients and achieve our mission of helping thousands of women succeed at interview and transform their lives.
This is an exciting role that will lead the relationship management of our most important, high value brands, without which our service could not be delivered. Supported by the Head of Events & Head of Wardrobe, you will work closely with the Partnerships Team and the Wardrobe Team to deliver essential client and events stock.
The successful candidate will be responsible for building and maintaining a portfolio of retail brands, conducting excellent stewardship, bespoke tailored support, with a real understanding and insight into the challenges and opportunities within the retail sector, and an ability to influence and negotiate on the charity’s behalf.
We seek an excellent relationship manager, with strong written and verbal communication skills, an ability to influence senior stakeholders and exceed set targets. An address book of retail contacts and an understanding of women’s fashion would also be advantageous.

Main responsibilities:

About the role:
The Advance Specialist Prison & Probation Advocate will support women within the prison setting, provide pre-release support, focused on Accommodation, Finance, debt & benefits, Family & significant others and Social inclusion including ‘through the gate’ support.
This exciting new role will be based in HMP Bronzefield and will support in developing referral pathways for women and work in partnership with different departments and services within the prison as well as those in the community. You will co-design an action plan with women accessing support, enabling you to support them to address their accommodation, finance, debt and benefits and health needs and any risks in relation to the interventions identified, as they prepare for release. The role will involve a combination of casework-based approach with delivery of programmes and courses, along with a signposting and advice service for the women in custody.
You will have demonstrable experience and understanding of working with women in a challenging multi-agency environment, ideally working with prisoners and/or their families.
You will build strong relationships with the Pre Release teams to ensure clients are able to maintain or access suitable accommodation, finance, benefits and debt, family and social inclusion support including negotiating terms on behalf of the women. Ensure that interventions are responsive to and meet the needs of women from diverse and minoritised backgrounds. This, together with referrals to wider partner organisations in the community, will ensure additional support needs are addressed post-release and continuity of support exists.
A car may be desirable for this role, though not essential
About You:
To be successful as the Advance Specialist Prison & Probation Advocate you will need the below experience and skills:
Knowledge and experience of the criminal justice system obtained through academic study, experience of working in the criminal justice system (or closely associated social system).
The ability and experience as a caseworker delivering gender specific and trauma responsive interventions which support resettlement and rehabilitation of female adults in the criminal justice system whether in the community or in prisons.
You will possess excellent organisational skills, excellent communication skills and be able to work in a prison environment whilst remaining calm.
Knowledge and understanding of the requirements of managing a caseload including maintaining and updating records, remaining focused on action plan goals, and keeping to deadlines
You will have the ability to complete trauma informed, support and action plans in collaboration with the woman; to support in addressing their multiple and individual needs and enable them to engage with services, which will result in timely and prescribed outcomes being achieved.

Overview and Summary
We are seeking to appoint an Advocacy and Communications Officer – a vital role for our 70-strong coalition during an exciting period for our work.
CJC is a broad coalition of NGOs, trade unions and law firms, encompassing a range of political and thematic priorities, from workers’ rights and modern slavery, to climate and the environment, global justice and the rights of women and girls, children and indigenous peoples. But what brings us together is a shared commitment to ending corporate impunity for human rights abuses and environmental destruction: in line with this, collaborative work for change alongside our partners is at the heart of all we do.
We’re at a crucial point in a campaign which spans advocacy, public communications and engagement with businesses, and seeks to ensure the implementation of a ‘Business, Human Rights and Environment Act’ in the UK. This legislation would help end corporate abuses of human rights and the environment, and make it easier for victims to access justice. At an exciting juncture for the campaign, the successful applicant will play a central role in shaping it and driving it forward, working alongside our civil society partners to do so.

What we’re looking for
The successful candidate will be highly motivated and have a real commitment to campaign for change on corporate accountability for human rights abuses. You’ll be enthusiastic and full of ideas, able to juggle multiple deadlines and tasks, while being ready to show initiative and take ownership of your area of work.
You don’t need to be a policy expert on our issues, but you’ll need to have the ability to rapidly gain an understanding of what we work on and why, and advocate for these issues to Parliamentarians and civil servants.
Facilitating joint work alongside our coalition partners is fundamental to everything we do, so we’re looking for someone who already has experience of working in coalitions or in the not-for-profit sector - whether in the UK charity sector or elsewhere - and who will be at ease regularly communicating with other organisations and facilitating meetings which can have multiple organisations in attendance. We need someone who recognises and understands the value of civil society groups collaborating effectively, and is good communicator comfortable working with stakeholders at multiple levels.
You will update and ensure the delivery of the advocacy strategy for the campaign, leading regular calls with coalition partners, so it’s crucial that you’re comfortable with and enjoy collaborative work with others. You’ll drive forward our engagement with policy makers, thinking up strategies for engagement and potential approaches. You will be supported by a team and engaged Board, as well as coalition partners, but will be encouraged to take ownership of your areas of work and develop proposals for action.

Job description
The purpose of this role is to provide essential, tailored casework support for residents living in Ella’s’ safe house accommodation. The main responsibilities of this role are:
● Provide one-to-one support for safe house residents This includes ensuring that survivors understand their rights and that these are met, coaching survivors to identify and work towards their personal goals, supporting survivors to access appropriate services/treatment providers and ultimately be supported into independence.
● Manage social work students, placements and interns.
● Maintain and develop borough related relationships.

Key tasks
Casework provision
● Provide high quality casework support to residents (housing, financial, legal, mental health, and physical wellbeing support)
● Support survivor empowerment to speak out and self-advocate
● Carry out regular risk assessment with survivors and respond to any safeguarding concerns as per Ella’s’ safeguarding procedures
● Provide day-to-day support and build trusting relationships with the service users
● Be sensitive to the rapidly changing emotional and physical needs of the service users and respond accordingly
● Manage all paperwork, processing any personal data in accordance with Ella’s’ policies and procedures
● Ensure casenote records are recorded within 24 hours of each service user contact using Ella’s’ case management system
● Assist service users with administrative tasks as required: reaching out to supporting agencies, booking appointments, form-filling, and attending appointments
● Assume an advocacy role during external appointments, if required
● Assist in writing covering letters and support letters to compliment service users’ application forms, advocate for the service user in specific needs, or to keep other organisations updated as required
● Research the requirements for benefit applications and assisting service users to complete (as required)
● Liaise effectively with other agencies involved in the care or support of service users to ensure their needs are sufficiently met
● Manage referrals and new intakes
● Help create survivor led support plans
● Work collaboratively with other accommodation caseworkers
● Encourage and supporting survivors to attend sessions and activities inside and outside of Ella's
Volunteer coordination
● Oversee social work students and/or interns placed within the safe house, with support from the service manager
● Ensure relevant policies and procedures are upheld by self, all volunteers and visitors who come into contact with survivors
● Adhere to and ensure all students and interns have a good knowledge of Ella’s’ casework management forms and recording systems and oversee the consistent use of these
● Provide regular supervision to students and interns Safeguarding, and health and safety
● Work in collaboration with the Safehousee and Facilities Manager
● Ensure all major incidents, accidents, safeguarding concerns or potential hazards are managed, reported and recorded according to Ella’s’ policies and procedures
● Participate in the identification and assessment of risks and implement agreed working procedures to minimise their impact; writing risk assessments as required
● Promote awareness of health and safety amongst service users, including those who use emergency/on call systems, fire prevention and control systems as necessary
● Ensure the location confidentiality of Ella’s’ premises to protect survivors and safeguard staff and volunteers
● Participate in any relevant Safeguarding training and keep up to date with any changes to Ella’s’ safeguarding policies and procedures
Accommodation and risk management
● Run regular house meetings and house outings for residents
● Support residents with housing benefit and service charges
● Manage all paperwork in the premises, processing any personal data in accordance with Ella’s’ Data Protection Policy and procedures
● Handle emergency situations calmly and professionally
● Ensure all safety and security procedures are followed to keep self and others safe
● Maintain a safe and secure working environment
● Ensure the location confidentiality of Ella’s’ premises to protect survivors and safeguard staff and volunteers
Other/general duties
● Develop strategic partnerships with local agencies working within the Violence Against Women and Girls sector and other local organisations or businesses that could enrich the work of Ella’s
● Take part in the out of hours on-call service
● Attend any training required for the role, keeping up to date with any developments and changes within the sector
● Represent the work at Ella’s with integrity at all times
● Adhere to all of Ella's policies and procedures at all times
● Be an active member of the organisation, attending any team meetings that are required and contribute to Ella's’ strategic goals and input into its direction of growth
● Attend monthly supervision with the service manager and keep in regular contact

The Financial Controller will work closely with the Finance Director in the delivery of the organisation’s financial objectives and is expected to contribute to the financial culture, strategy and development of the organisation.
