As a member of our Leadership Team, you will be responsible for leading a team of Youth Development Leads (YDLs) to successfully deliver our Foundation programmes targeted at Young People not in Employment, Education or Training. In this role, you will develop and implement a delivery plan aligned with our goals and targets. You will lead and inspire your team, ensuring high-quality and impactful services that support young people to progress through a structured pathway of personal development. A key part of the role will be fostering a safe and inclusive environment and championing best practices in youth engagement.

To succeed in this role, it is essential that you have experience in line managing a team, as you will be responsible for motivating and supporting your YDLs to achieve their objectives. Your leadership will ensure the effective coordination of resources and the delivery of impactful programmes that meet our standards and the needs of young people.

This role is perfect for you if you have experience leading services for young people, a passion for creating transformative opportunities, and the ability to inspire and develop a team. Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage a team of Youth Development Leads to deliver Foundation programmes, including outdoor learning and off-site visits.
• Oversee the delivery of these Programmes, ensuring effective implementation and quality.

• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to strengthen programme delivery and reach.
• Contribute to the development of our strategy to empower more young people in Greater Manchester with sustainable outcome opportunities.

• Lead on the development and implementation of the Individual Giving strategy and programme to retain, acquire and develop donors 
• Manage income and expenditure budgets including phasing, reforecasting and contingency planning

• Develop new products for individual giving, regular giving and lottery recruitment 
• Manage and support a team of two Individual Giving Officers

About You:

• Solid experience in an individual giving fundraising role in the charity sector with understanding of wide range of direct marketing activities including digital, direct mail, telemarketing, face to face, inserts and door drops 
• Experience working for a national charity is desirable 
• Proactive, creative and ambitious 
• Demonstrate effective relationship-management skills and ability to deliver engaging content for donors 
• Ability to work across multiple tasks, be detail-orientated and prioritise workload effectively

The Role: Operations Manager

We are seeking an inspiring and dedicated Operations Manager to play a key role in our organisation, leading and supporting our passionate staff team of eight people and managing daily operations at M13 Youth Project, supported by and reporting to the Founder.

You will lead on the smooth running of operations, working closely with youth work staff to nurture a trusting, inclusive and dedicated working culture, which enables staff and young people to feel safe, valued and hopeful and to develop excellent work together.

You will be responsible for overseeing the ongoing development of our staff team, including scheduling staff and activities, managing working hours and absence, line managing staff, supporting recruitment, induction, disciplinary and grievance processes and being the first point of contact for the team.

This role requires experience and capability in managing processes and people, with good organisational skills, attention to detail, emotional intelligence and dedication to completing tasks. Empathy, good sense, creativity and ability to manage competing priorities are essential, along with the ability to co-design solutions to effectively manage any issues arising in the office environment, whilst ensuring high quality youth work and excellent external relationships with partners.

Whilst knowledge of and previous experience within a youth and play work context is not a requirement, you will have an appreciation of and commitment to seeing children and young people’s lives enriched, and to developing an understanding of our approach to youth and play work. If required, the Founder will continue as Designated Safeguarding Lead and professional practice supervisor of youth & play work staff.

As we adjust to a shift in our political environment, this brand new role will relentlessly and powerfully amplify 38 Degrees campaigns and the voices of our supporters to the general public, the media and decision makers in the UK.

You’ll manage our Public Affairs & Media team, including a new Public Affairs & Media officer role – working together, and with colleagues across the campaigns team and beyond,  to execute our Public Affairs & Media strategy and deliver impressive results. Whilst this is a Manager role, it’s also a very hands on role – you’ll be as at home picking up the phone to regional TV to discuss local supporters whose experiences could make perfect case studies for the big story of the day, and helping those people tell their story, as you are meeting with MPs and their staff to use our Campaigns By You platform to run campaigns on local issues in their constituencies.

Your background and experience

We’re looking for someone who can effectively grasp the 38 Degrees approach to public affairs, which combines pressure and persuasion – and who is confident in pursuing both. You will be able to show you can use both, in the right circumstances: from liaising with Metro Mayors on possible partnership campaigns, to commissioning and landing coverage of snap polling that demonstrates public opinion on government plans. The person recruited will need to be a brilliant communicator, and be passionate about opening up democracy and making political and corporate change accessible to all.

You’ll be a great fit for this role if you have excellent political and news judgement – you know what can make a story and what impact that story can have on decision makers.

You’ll be extremely comfortable speaking to politicians and their teams, along with journalists, other communications teams in partner organisations, and 38 Degrees supporters who act as case studies in our campaigns. You may already have extensive journalist or political networks and relationships, and you’ll have definitely had results. We’re looking for a person who knows the political and news agenda each day, and can help set it too.

You’ll be equipped with the skills to develop a new team, with the skills and experience to manage more junior members of staff, setting clear, inspiring and exciting shared goals.
