Our Membership Engagement Team provide support, advice and guidance to ensure that our members can continue to be the force for good in their communities. Through strong relationships, the team facilitates the sharing of great practice and ensure that the membership remain compliant. The Membership Engagement Officers (MEOs) are actively engaged within their areas, meeting Branch members, supporting their activities and building a stronger membership fit for the next 100 years.

The Membership Engagement Officer (MEO) is a key role which inspires and engages our membership to be active and fulfil their role and purpose while remaining compliant with the Legion’s Membership handbook and policies. Every day will be different as this role will see you responding to the needs of the individual county of responsibility. It is a challenging and exciting post where no two days will be the same.

You will provide organisational support, advice and information to our members, and work closely with County Committees, the membership central team staff and other departments.  This a varied role which covers a range of duties from connecting and building relationships with Branches to compliance oversight and responding to membership queries.

You will be contracted to your home address. You will be expected to work both there, using our collaboration tools to work with colleagues and members and on a mobile basis at other locations in the Cheshire area, with occasional travel (incl. for monthly team meetings) beyond this area.

Some evening and weekend work will be required, including an occasional requirement for some overnight stays.

The successful individual is not permitted to hold a membership officer role in their designated area of work, and must hold a full UK driving licence.

Given the responsibilities associated with the role, it is a requirement that you live within reasonable distance of the designated region of responsibility.

About your role

We are a small and ambitious early-stage organisation with two full-time team members. Our current objective: to help the 1 billion chickens raised annually in the UK. By joining us as a campaigner you will be both strategising and spending time on the frontlines, by talking to the biggest companies, producing investigative reports and giving media interviews. Your first task will be to help us convince the UK’s largest food businesses to improve their chicken welfare policies through public and behind-the-scenes advocacy. • Conduct research – you will spend many hours online gathering information, working with investigators and lawyers, or delivering 50 chicken products to a lab in Germany (we did this too).
• Create engaging content – you will produce emotive graphics and videos for social media, factual reports and data-driven briefings for journalists and politicians.
• Work with the media – you will engage with journalists, write press releases, and give the odd interview.
• Mobilise advocates – you will write emails to our supporters and motivate them to take action with us. You will also organise and run street actions like protests and stunts.

Overall Purpose

To work as part of the Grants & Programmes Team to support organisations applying for funding each year through the Foundations grants programme.  The post holder manages important relationships with potential and current grantees, building trust and an understanding of their purpose and aims and supporting them to submit appropriate and high-quality applications for funding against the funds criteria and Foundation’s priorities. To lead on wider initiatives, as directed by the Senior Grants Manager or Senior Leadership Team, to ensure the Foundation maintains high standards and contribute to national data sharing and initiatives that strengthen the work and reach of the foundation. The Grants Manager will report to the Senior Grants Manager and will work closely with colleagues across the Foundation contributing to the delivery of the Foundation’s Strategic Plan, vision, and values.

Responsibilities

To undertake all tasks associated with BLCF's grantmaking functions including carry out assessments of grants applications and work alongside donors on donor-directed funds as required. 

Work alongside members of the team to maximize use of our in-house CRM database for monitoring and impact reporting, working with the Head of Impact. 

Provide grant-making support and advise to potential and existing grantees on our funds and programmes, to ensure open and transparent access to our programmes and proactively looking to address inequality and fairer access to opportunities the Foundation offers. 

Process all grant applications within agreed timelines, working alongside Fund Leads to review and assess grant applications effectively. 

Co-lead delivery of fund programmes, contributing to their strategic direction / donor engagement.

Carry out other associated duties, which may arise, develop, or be assigned, in line with the scale and general nature of the post.

Performance & Monitoring

Track and review monitoring submissions, working with the Grants Officers to send out reminders for monitoring forms to be returned where required, and sign off monitoring forms from applicants.

Production of delivery/donor reports as required to funders, as requested by Senior Leadership Team.

Ensure appropriate levels of training are maintained and a good working understanding of the policies and procedures of the Foundation. 

Relationship Building

Listen, learn and share the needs of communities back into the work of the Foundation to ensure we are always 'needs led'.

Maintain and share our vision and value and help those who wish to work with us understand the processes and requirements we have.

Make regular visits to funded projects as required.

Regularly connect and engage with charity forums and networks to promote the work of the Foundation and help raise our profile.

External Representation

Maintain a good working understanding of community and charity sector issues in order to better inform our work, ensuring information is cascaded to wider members of the team. 

Represent the Foundation in a positive way, at Regional and National events as required by Senior Grants Manager or Senior Leadership Team.

Proactively develop and maintain an appropriate network of contacts in the grant making sector across the whole geographic reach of the Foundation. Deliver and support workshops and seminars and fund launchesfor the Foundations existing and new programmes and initiatives. 

Provide proactive support to the CEO with other initiatives, where required. 

Be an ambassador for the work of the Foundation by demonstrating its values in the delivery of its work.

Job description

Job Purpose

To manage and develop the home from hospital settle service in the hospitals that you are responsible for, to support timely and successful patient discharges from hospital and prevent re-admissions.  You will work in collaboration with hospital teams and community teams to lead and manage your team to support the smooth transition from hospital to home for service users.  The service works with people for time limited support (usually up to 6 weeks) to adjust and settle back in their homes, and to prevent readmission into hospital. 

Key Tasks

• Work in partnership with the hospitals and other health and social care professionals to coordinate safe and timely discharges for referred clients.  This involves attending meetings with hospital personnel including Discharge Co-ordinators and Ward Managers to discuss discharges and plan who and how individuals will be supported as appropriate. 
• Manage a team working across two hospitals and ensuring the service is available between the contracted hours.
• Work collaboratively with other agencies providing support services.
• Conduct initial assessments of people referred to the services as necessary.
• Plan and develop person centred interventions to provide short term support for people after hospital discharge.
• Work with GPs as appropriate in identifying and supporting patients to reduce unnecessary hospital admissions.
• Work with people with a range of needs, dealing with issues ranging from social isolation and keeping people engaged in their community, to preventing unnecessary admission to hospital.
• Support the hospitals with delayed transfer of care (DTOC).
• Coordinate and monitor the caseload of referrals allocated to team members to ensure a fair and manageable distribution of work.
• Rota planning to ensure staff flexibility and availability, enabling planned rosters that best suit both hospital and patient needs.
• Develop your team which includes; supervision, appraisal, planning of continued professional development opportunities and training needs.

• On a rota basis, provide weekend on call cover for the services you manage, and other hospital settle services provided by AUKEL.

Administration

• Lead on contract reporting, this includes quarterly, annual and ad hoc reports as necessary.
• Carry out annual customer service surveys.
• Enable the impact of the service to be assessed and inform the improvement of other local services by keeping electronic records of all referrals and interventions, and producing reports on activity and outcomes, in accordance with KPIs.
• Meet and produce reports as required by the Head of Service.
• Ensure patient records are regularly updated through AUKEL database, and support staff to complete their administration via training etc.
• Work with the Communications team and the Head of Service, market and promote the service.
• Build and circulate a resource pack for the wider AUKEL team to generate referrals between services delivered by the charity.

Quality

Following a 3-month probation period, you will transition to a fixed-term contract. Upon successful completion of this term, you will be offered a permanent employment contract. Key responsibilities

The Education Delivery Specialist will have substantial experience of running learning activities with groups of young people, including aged 9-15 years, and experience of engaging with and meeting the needs of disadvantaged young people. You will also have experience of providing pastoral/emotional support, working successfully as part of a team, and keeping records and writing reports. You will have knowledge of best practice in teaching and/or youth empowerment, as well as be familiar with the needs and issues of young people. There will be frequent travel to our projects in the North East, and evening and weekend work will be needed to cover our projects. A full driving license and access to a vehicle for work purposes is essential for this rewarding role.
