Job Title: Positive Engagement Worker
Location: Based in Croydon, CR0 1EB, you will be based across multiple properties in the area
Salary: £27,000
Shift Pattern: 37.5 hours per week Monday to Friday 09:00 - 17:00, you may also be required to work weekends and bank holidays as per service requirements.
About the role
We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Positive Engagement Worker to join our team based in Croydon which aims to deliver residential based support to people referred by South London and Maudsley Trust (SLaM). Our residents are referred to gain support with their Mental Health and other multiple complex needs. Our aim is to support them and help them prepare for independent living, whilst managing their individual risks. You will be at the heart of providing person centred support in a tailored way, to help our residents improve their quality of life, and achieve their personal goals through providing flexible support.
In this role, you will be at the centre of researching, sourcing, and providing various opportunities for our residents. This can include partnering with external employers for employment opportunities, liaising with colleges for courses and upskilling opportunities, or community based projects which residents can get involved in. The role is dynamic and you can put your own ideas forward to bring new ideas to the team to help support our residents have access to wider resources. You will work closely with the rest of the care and support teams to enhance the opportunities available to our residents.
You will work directly with our residents to support them to overcome their personal barriers and challenges to achieve positive outcomes. You will do this through one to one support sessions, group sessions and activities, and general support with their daily living.
The role further includes:
- Plan and deliver various activities which includes within the service and outside in the local community to help gain a sense of community and belonging. This can include days out to museums, community events and other areas of interest by our residents
- Plan in service events to bring residents together which could include group cooking sessions, games days, sporting events, and religious festivals.
- Keeping support plans up to date using our online portal
- Carrying out housing management support including welfare benefits support
About you
We're looking for someone who has a true passion to support those who face challenges with their mental health and that may have substance dependency. You will be able to build rapport and trusting relations in a professional setting, and able to build positive outcomes. You will be creative in your approach to find new ways to bring people together to gain a sense of community and belonging through various events and activities both in house and externally. You will have an adaptable and flexible approach to helping others, with an understanding that each individual has different levels and types of support needs.
You will have an understanding and ability to help others overcome their personal barriers, and will be motivated to want to make a difference to people's lives. This is a fulfilling role, and is the perfect fit for someone who has a real passion in helping others. You will have:
- Awareness of external opportunities which are available such as with education, employment and benefits

About the Role
The Head of Fundraising will be a key member of our Senior Management Team (SMT) and take ownership of our Fundraising Strategy to support the diversification of our income. This role is vital to our future growth and sustainability, and an opportunity to lead an exciting part of the charity which makes a real difference to the students we support.
Strategy and Leadership
- Lead the delivery of our fundraising strategy in line with our current organisational strategy which runs from 2024-2029.
- Lead on the management of key information about Get Further’s fundraising activity and ensure it is stored appropriately, well organised and with high attention to detail. This will include supporting the transition of the fundraising function onto Salesforce.
- Prepare fundraising update reports for the Finance and Risk Committee and the Board of Trustees as required.

Fundraising and Stakeholder Engagement
- Lead the core fundraising activities, including line managing our Fundraising Officer. This includes developing an in-depth understanding of existing and potential supporters to provide tailored relationship management, including engagement opportunities, to meet significant targets over multiple years.
- Support the Fundraising Officer to identify new prospects, in particular, charitable trusts and foundations that have the potential to support Get Further for the first time. You will effectively qualify and engage with prospects to build a pipeline for the coming years, matching prospects with appropriate asks.
- Oversee and write compelling applications for funding that are tailored to each recipient and make a convincing case for how their support with help more young people achieve their gateway qualifications.
- Lead on ensuring all supporters and donors receive updates and reports within the required timeframes and that these are crafted with impact data and case studies to ensure maximum stakeholder engagement.
Team Management and Collaboration
- Provide effective line management of our Fundraising Officer to support their personal development and successful delivery of their role.
- Work closely with the COO to develop budgets to accompany applications and provide financial reports to funders and partners.
- Work closely with the Impact Team to develop efficient processes for impact reporting to funders.
- Support the COO to ensure that policies relating to fundraising are up to date and fit for purpose.

As an independent funder, the charity generates income from its endowment, which includes substantial property holdings and financial investments. This means it does not fund raise. To date, the organisation has awarded over £225 million in grants to a range of organisations that seek to promote the life chances of children and young people through Education, with around £15 million in grants distributed each year. The Charity gives grants to benefit children and young people up to the age of 25 (or up to 30 for people with special educational needs and/or disabilities) who live within nine Boroughs in West, Central and North London.
We are delighted to be working with the Charity to recruit a permanent Communications & Social Media Officer to join its established team based at conveniently located offices in Central London.
The role:
This newly created position will expand the capacity of the organisation's communications team, supporting the Communications, PR & Events Manager in delivering engaging, high-impact external communications. The focus will be on managing the Charity’s digital presence, including its social media channels and newsletter to enhance visibility, engagement and public awareness.
The role requires a strategic, organised and creative approach to social media platforms including LinkedIn, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Vimeo and BlueSky. It will entail preparing and delivering innovative and compelling content in both written, visual and video production formats, which showcase the work of the Charity and its network of grantees. Using the latest platforms and technology such as Canva and InDesign, this role will help tell the important stories which emanate from the work of the charity, including publicising events, raising awareness and addressing interesting themes relevant to the work of the Charity and its community.
This role will also monitor and evaluate online engagement and will ensure there is a vibrant, creative and relevant tone across all platforms and mediums. They will also contribute to maintaining the website and newsletter, gathering stories from across the Charity’s networks and ensuring it is accessible and up to date with current affairs and events. Working closely with the Communications, Events and PR Manager, this person will be responsible for identifying opportunities to repurpose and amplify content across multiple channels to ensure the Charity’s media presence is maintained and enhanced both on a local, London wide and National basis.
Beyond digital communications, this role will support a busy calendar of events throughout the year, managing logistics from planning to execution, including navigation lists, booking venues, catering arrangements and on the day support and facilitation. This is a wide-ranging communications role with plenty of scope for development and growth, with the flexibility to be tailored to the strengths and interests of the postholder.
In addition to working for Charity, the post holder will also support the COO of the foundation in its newly developing communications work. This will require working across 2 schools, and the Charity in collaboration with the communications teams across the Foundation.
The person:
The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience in a similar social media or digital communications role, ideally within the charity or not-for-profit sector but equally having come from a commercial setting, where an active interest in charitable work can be clearly evidenced. Bright, engaging and intellectually curious, this person will have a natural enthusiasm for the work of the charity and the desire to be an active member of an office-based team, all working towards the same goals.
An outstanding communicator both in person verbally and in writing, this person will have a proven track record of running digital communications activities and social media campaigns and will be proficient in design tools such as Canva, InDesign, Photoshop and PowerPoint, although training can be given where necessary. The ability to tailor the tone of content for various platforms and to appeal to a wide range of audiences, both locally, London wide and nationally will be important.
The desire to learn new skills will be strongly evident in this person, they will relish the thought of collaborating with colleagues to grow their expertise and to share ideas on how to optimise delivery across the digital and social media space. Highly organised, with excellent attention to detail, this person will be a strategic thinker with the ability to plan ahead and to spot opportunities further down the line to maximise the impact and reach of charity’s work. A working knowledge of WordPress and website management will be very useful but not essential.

The Corporate Partnerships Officer will join our recently established Philanthropy and Partnerships (P&P) team to help us develop and nurture a range of corporate and philanthropic relationships. The Corporate Partnerships Officer will be responsible for account managing a portfolio of new and existing corporate accounts to deliver a sustainable income growth year on year. Migration Policy Scotland (MPS) is an independent policy organisation working to improve the prospects for a more just migration system in Scotland and across the UK. MPS is pioneering an approach that integrates migrant lived experience into research-driven policy influencing. We have recently been awarded funding by The National Lottery Community Action Fund enabling us to continue and grow this area of activity.
