Winston's Wish is seeking a Part-time Bereavement Counsellor to cover maternity leave for a period of approximately 9 months from February 2025. The role is remote, with occasional travel to team meetings at locations around the UK (no more than 4 per year).
Role Purpose
- To provide psychosocial assessments and therapeutic interventions to children and young people and/or their significant adults (as appropriate) who are experiencing acute and/or complex levels of psychological distress as a result of a bereavement.
- To work with children and young people and/or their significant adults (as appropriate) using a range of counselling methods, approaches and techniques, functioning at level 3 of the NICE psychological framework.
- To provide crisis interventions when appropriate.
- To be responsible for implementing a range of therapeutic interventions for individuals, families and groups, drawing upon different models, including one-to-one work, family work, group work and activities.
- To provide psychosocial education to children and young people and/or their significant adults (as appropriate) about grief, bereavement, coping skills and trauma as needed.
- Service provided digitally with opportunities for in-person work as deemed necessary by the service.

We couldn’t run Manchester International Festival without the dedication, energy and enthusiasm of our amazing volunteers. Some 426 volunteers got involved in MIF23, our last festival, doing everything from helping out with preparations to greeting the public at our events. Our Festival Volunteer Manager is critical to the smooth running of this programme.
Our Festival Volunteer Manager will lead on the recruitment of MIF volunteers, training and induction, and support for volunteers taking part in the 2025 programme. They will ensure that the volunteer programme is inclusive and accessible, and that volunteers have a fantastic experience at all points that they interact with us.
The primary focus of this role is leading on the volunteer-facing aspects of the MIF Volunteer Programme, however the post holder will work within a Volunteering Team that also delivers other Factory International volunteering programmes, including those at Aviva Studios, and may also support the delivery of these from time to time.
This role will involve a significant amount of evening and weekend working – particularly during May, June, and July, to facilitate the delivery of the programme. Main purpose of this role
Our mentoring work provides a person-centred approach, supporting disabled people to access the life-changing power of movement and sport. We train mentors (who are mostly disabled) and match them with disabled people who face multiple barriers and are likely to remain inactive without intervention. They work together to break down these barriers and connect with local sports clubs and initiatives. We delivered our first mentoring programme in Nottingham and are now looking to expand the programme across the East Midlands and other areas in England and Wales. We are looking for a proactive, confident and dynamic individual to help us set up and deliver new mentoring and supported sports projects to enable disabled people to get involved in physical activity in their communities. Project set up and delivery
- Develop and implement project plans that incorporate KPIs, milestones and responsibilities, ensuring deadlines are met and plans amended as appropriate.

The Role
