About us
Who we are
Supporting disabled people to live independently, with dignity and without prejudice.
We work with disabled people, older people and young people, or anyone with an impairment or long term health condition.
We are a charity set up in 1981 to support and involve disabled people to have equal rights, and a voice and control over issues affecting their lives. Since our early days, we have grown into a strong, optimistic organisation providing a range of quality assured services to help all kinds of people achieve their goals.
We are skilled at feeding back constructively to people who make decisions. Our reputation is such that we have influenced policy and practice at local, regional and national levels.
Some of our services are provided by funding from local and national government. However, much of what we do we fund ourselves, either by our own fundraising efforts and public donations, or by income generated through services we provide. We are very proud this income is reinvested in Possability People. It means more of society’s most marginalised and disadvantaged people can access information and services to help improve their health and well-being.
We operate from 5 sites spread across Brighton and Hove with a further office in Hastings. Our services cover East and West Sussex and even as far as Surrey. Depending on the role we're happy to discuss flexible working options and as a disability charity we particularly welcome applications from disabled people.
Our culture and values
We are proud to have a team of staff and volunteers who all work together to support disabled people. We believe in providing the support people need to be the best version of themselves, valuing each person's experiences and views.
Equality, diversity and inclusion policy
We have an inclusive and open culture where each person is celebrated for who they are and can bring their whole selves to work.
