To take an active role in the charity activities.  Responsible for governance, safeguarding and strategic direction of the charity with other board members.  To work in partnership and to support contractors and volunteers helping them to achieve the aims of the organisation.

• Ensure the charity is run in accordance with the governing document, charity law, company law and that the decisions of the board and any other appropriate legislation or regulations are upheld.

• Work within SDAC’s Safeguarding Children and Adults policies at all times.

• Attending and actively participating in monthly Zoom board meetings on a Tuesday from 6.30 to 8.30pm and yearly AGM.
• Seek out new opportunities to work with vulnerable residents in Surrey to promote the success of SDAC Ltd.

· Take delegated roles/tasks for the Board as discussed and agreed with the

Chair and report back to the Board.

· Ensure the charity’s confidentiality and safeguarding policies are adhered to with regards to the management of the charity.

· Attending in person meetings with volunteers in Guildford.

RESPONSIBLE FOR: Ensuring good governance and financial sustainability; contributing to the strategic development of the Trust via the delegated authority to the Director; advocating for the Trust.

The Essex and Suffolk Rivers Trust is an environmental charity set up to protect, conserve and rehabilitate the rivers and estuaries of Essex and Suffolk. We are in an exciting time of growth and have been redefining our strategic plan up to 2030. We are looking for two new trustees to join us.

• Have experience of leading and managing growth within an organisation.

• Can highlight how we could support finance and business in delivering biodiversity and carbon offsets.

• Have experience in developing successful corporate funding relationships.

• Have a background in any of the following areas: water and wastewater management, aquatic conservation, human resources or fundraising

• Can broaden and deepen the diversity of thought and experience represented in our organisation. We aim to represent and reflect diverse communities.

• Have experience and understanding of land-use and farming and the opportunities available for landowners and environmental organisations to work together to bring positive impacts for all.

It would also be ideal if you had:

• A desire to tackle nature and climate emergencies, in particular in the water environment.

• A track record of successfully working within or managing a senior team.

• Experience in writing funding bids and a good understanding of what makes them successful.

• An ability to think strategically and discern how to prioritise opportunities that will ensure growth and sustainability.

With a new CEO in post and a strategy review underway, Why me? is now seeking three new Trustees to join our Board and support the growth and development of our small and impactful organisation. 

You will bring a passion for Restorative Justice and a willingness and commitment to work alongside the rest of the Board and CEO. You will have an interest in ensuring the good governance of the charity, which is a company limited by guarantee. The Role

Trustees are responsible to the Charity Commission for the good governance of Why me? and ensure that the organisation’s activities meet the aims and objectives of the charity. They also set the strategic direction; support the CEO and staff in managing the organisation; and take responsibility for financial probity, accounting and risk.
 

The Commitment

The Board meets 4 times a year with options to join sub-committees and to support specific areas of the organisation’s work and development. Meetings usually take place quarterly on Wednesdays from 12-2pm, at our office in London, and can be joined remotely. Trustees are encouraged to attend in person when possible. On average Trustees can expect to spend around 4 hours a month on Why me? activities.  This is a voluntary position,  and reasonable expenses are paid.

Being a Trustee

IRMO’s Board of Trustees is made up of six to nine Trustees, who work together to ensure the charity is run properly. As a trustee, you will have the opportunity to support IRMO’s strategic development and oversee its finances. Trustees meet every two months (usually online in the evening) and are asked to commit an additional eight to ten hours between meetings to follow up on actions and provide advice and input on strategic documents and areas of work relevant to their areas of expertise.

General Responsibilities

• Stay up to date with and assess the political, economic and social contexts that affect IRMO’s work
• Support the development of and approve IRMO’s key strategic documents
• Annually review and approve IRMO’s budget
• Review, update and approve major policies
• Approve salaries, benefits, terms and conditions for staff
• Ensure that IRMO’s financial structure is adequate for its current needs and long-term strategy
• Ensure that the organisation has the necessary resources in place to meet its long-term goals
• Ensure that the Board of Trustees is adequately informed of the condition of the organisation and its operations
• Ensure that published reports adequately reflect the nature of the services and the financial condition of the organisation
• Approve major actions of the organisation, such as capital expenditure over authorised limits and major changes in activities and services 
• Review staff results in relation to IRMO’s aims and objectives, as well as annual and long-term goals
• Appoint, supervise, support, and appraise IRMO’s Director
• Provide candid and constructive criticism, advice, comments and praise
• Ensure that the Director has established appropriate policies to define and identify conflicts of interest throughout the organisation and are administering and enforcing those policies
• Appoint independent examiners/auditors subject to approval by members
• Ensure compliance with relevant legislation affecting the organisation
• Annually review the performance of the Board of Trustees and take steps to improve its performance

· To make recommendations to the Board of appropriate clinical changes to KWC’s Policies and Procedures and controls.

· To ensure the Board receives appropriate information on the activities that affect the clinical running of KWC. 

3. Governance

· To ensure the Board is aware of its clinical duties and responsibilities and the need to comply with legislation and BACP code of ethics. 

· To ensure all clinical policies, procedures and any appointment of external clinical advisors are reviewed on a regular basis.

· To monitor and report to the Board and offer solutions to any clinical concerns.

5. Key Qualities/Experience 

· Experience in a Senior Clinical role; ideally currently working in counselling, psychotherapy and or supervising counsellors and psychotherapists.

· Experience in developing Clinical Services and of working within the community.

· Good communication/interpersonal and decision- making skills.

· Ability to work collaboratively and constructively as a member of the Board.

· Willingness to devote the necessary time and effort to the role of Trustee.

· Service delivery experience.

Vacancy - Chair of the Board of Trustees Barbara Bus Fund, Stanmore

The Barbara Bus Fund is recruiting for a new Chairperson.

The Barbara Bus Fund is a registered charity, which was set up in 1968 to help people who cannot get out or use public transport or an ordinary car, because they have a disability that necessitates full-time use of a wheelchair.

Today the BBF operates a fleet of 16 specially converted vehicles from Stanmore, Aylesbury and North Wales. The BBF is operated by a combination of paid and volunteer staff with head office at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, Stanmore.

The role of Chair is a voluntary position with the requirement to commit to one to two days per month, attend online meetings every 6-8 weeks and the AGM. The Chair will lead the Board of Trustees, chair committee meetings and the AGM.

Previous trustee / charity experience is required and the commitment to Nolan’s seven principles of public life: selflessness, integrity, objectivity, accountability, openness, honesty and leadership. Previous experience within the health / care / transport sectors will be a distinct advantage however, other relevant experience and the right attributes will also be considered.

METRO is an equality and diversity charity based in London, delivering services across the capital, East, and South East of England. We provide services across five domains: Sexual and Reproductive Health, Community, Mental Health and Wellbeing, Youth and HIV. OVERVIEW

Poltimore House Trust is a registered charity dedicated to the restoration of an historic mansion just outside Exeter. Despite an arson attack which caused severe damage to the House, the Trust Board’s commitment to restoration as a focal point for the arts, business, communities and wellbeing remains undiminished. A new Board has been recruited over the last two years, bringing a wide range of professional expertise and experience to the Trust.

In addition to the House, the Trust owns 13.6 acres of the historic estate and established a popular Café in 2022 which was unaffected by the fire. The Board is committed to developing a strategy for the Grounds which blends heritage restoration, biodiversity and a unique visitor experience.

The Grounds are maintained by a committed team of some 30 regular volunteers, and a campaign is currently underway to increase recruitment. Corporate volunteering has also grown recently and the Trust is seeking further opportunities to develop this valuable area of support further. The Board recognises that, as a volunteer-led organisation, we need to build a positive culture which delivers high levels of satisfaction for those who give us their time. 

We are therefore seeking a Trustee with appropriate skills to take the lead in the recruitment, care and deployment of our growing team of volunteers. This is a hands on role which will involve a presence on site for at least one day a week, as well as participation in Board and Committee meetings. In return, you will be a highly valued member of the Board, playing a key role in the restoration of this historic House and Grounds.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

We are seeking a Trustee with the skills required to deliver the duties and tasks outlined below, and to act as a full member of our Board.

• To put volunteer training in place where necessary.
• To help ensure that all volunteers feel valued, respected and supported, and that their skills and energies are being put to good use. 
• To keep the Board engaged and informed about developments relating to volunteers.

QUALITIES

The ideal candidate will bring:

• Willingness and ability to inspire, support and guide volunteers.
• A positive, friendly and sympathetic outlook.
• The ability to communicate clearly.
• An interest in, or experience of grounds maintenance or gardening.
• A strong commitment to the Trust’s mission and purpose.
• Willingness to commit a minimum of 5 - 6 hours per week.
