Synchronicity Earth is a growing organisation with an expanding team, and we are now looking for an experienced Grant Administrator to take ownership of the grant-making process within the team and organisation, building on the structures already in place to ensure we are a supportive and dynamic place to work.

We channel philanthropic donations from trusts and foundations, corporate foundations, corporates or individual donors through partners and grantees (identified by our in-house team of conservation experts who make up the ‘Research Team’), which are undertaking conservation work in those areas that most critically need support. The central core and operating costs of Synchronicity Earth are generously covered by the Synchronicity Foundation, which means that any donation we receive is disbursed out to the field without a management or administration fee taken. This enables the donor to have confidence that 100% of their funding is going out to the field and delivering impact.

Specific responsibilities will include the following:

• Oversee and manage the distribution and administration of all grants within our programmes.
• Work with both the Programme and Philanthropy Teams to ensure all grants are matched with the relevant income stream.
• Oversee the grant admin work of programme officers to ensure accuracy and timely delivery of grant paperwork.
• Monitor and track grantee compliance with all report submissions and any other key deliverables.
• Manage the grant pipeline, reporting issues to the Programmes Team, working towards solutions with partners and enabling speedy grant giving.
• Support the Programme Team in development of rolling 3-year plans for funding, and liaise with Philanthropy Team to allow planning for fundraising.
• Provide advice and guidance to applicants and grantees on administrative procedures, policies and practices.
• Act as the internal point of contact for all grants in our database (Salesforce).
• Coordinate and deliver on reporting requirements to the Finance, Research, Operations and Risk teams for all grant giving.
• Support across teams as required on entry, cleaning, research and administration relating to data management.
• Work to develop processes and systems to improve efficiency.

Essential skills and experience

• Grant management experience (at least 3 years).
• Experience of working with finance and database systems i.e., Salesforce, NetSuite, Fluxx.
• Proven track record of managing grant pipelines and financial implications.
• Proven track record of working and communicating across multiple teams and stakeholders.
• Excellent attention to detail.

Synchronicity Earth is a UK-based, global environmental charity which funds and supports organisations and individuals that aim to make our planet a better place to live for all its inhabitants.

We are a medium-sized charity which supports partners working to protect less well-known species and ecosystems around the world that receive less attention but face the greatest threats. We do this through our conservation Programmes, which identify, fund, and support organisations with a focus on: Amphibians, Asian Species, Congo Basin, Biocultural Diversity, Freshwater, and Ocean. We also support projects across two other areas: the More than Carbon initiative, a portfolio of climate and biodiversity projects targeted at corporate donors; and the Synchronicity Portfolio, which aims to foster systemic change to promote a greater focus on biodiversity conservation within different sectors. Reporting, location, and work hours

This position is a permanent position that is based in Synchronicity Earth offices in Central London, with the option for hybrid office/home working if the successful applicant wishes with a minimum of 3 days a week in the office (laptop would be provided for home working). During a 6-month probationary period we would require 4 days per week in the office.  The successful candidate must be eligible to work in the UK until at least the end of 2028, we cannot accept applicants who require visa sponsorship for this role.

As a Senior Project Officer, you’ll play a pivotal role in our efforts to reduce suicide in prisons. Climate & Water Manager - Resilient Water Accelerator

Contract: Permanent, Full Time,

Location: The role can be based in the UK or USA

For the UK, London, Hybrid: WaterAid is located at Canary Wharf, London and this will be your location and contract base. About WaterAid:
The climate crisis is a water crisis. Around the world, people are feeling the effects of climate change through water, including flooding, droughts, sea level rise, and irregular rainfall. Climate change is affecting seasonal and long-term water availability, meaning we can no longer rely on rain, river flows and aquifers. 

The Resilient Water Accelerator is an initiative designed to increase the flow of private and public finance into water projects that help the most climate-vulnerable communities build resilience to climate change. Despite the high need, only 3% of total climate finance flows go towards water. Our mission is to demonstrate the business case for increased and enhanced public and private investment in water-related deals in emerging economies that strengthen resilience for climate-vulnerable communities and are replicable so that millions more can benefit. We are working to increase the speed, scale, and replicability of water investment by creating a pipeline of bankable projects, bringing together the right mix of financing with the right commercial structures and partners, and supporting improvements in the enabling environment.

About the Team:
We are a friendly, supportive, globally distributed team, bringing on-the-ground expertise and comprehensive perspectives, combining climate policy, water economics, private finance, measurement and evaluation, and governance. We are currently housed within WaterAid – the world’s largest NGO focused on providing water, sanitation, and hygiene outcomes for people in developing countries, and are one of WaterAid’s flagship programmes. We have a close partnership with Global Development Incubator, which is providing incubation support for the RWA.

The RWA currently has 11 staff, based in 6 countries, and we have plans to build the team to around 18-20 over the next couple of years, to extend our delivery from 2 countries (currently Nigeria and Bangladesh) to 6, and to secure additional financing to complement the investment we have secured from the UK Government.

About the Role:
The Manager – Climate & Water will play an important role in this small, international team by managing the integration of ideas, policy frameworks, and findings from research and practice into the Resilient Water Accelerator (RWA)’s programmes in our target countries and at a global level. They will report directly into the RWA’s Director of Programmes and Investment, shaping and delivering the future RWA as a highly effective and impactful learning organisation.

• Project management to ensure RWA’s Programmes and Investment-related activities are delivered on time and within budget. Using agreed project management software, track and report RWA’s programme-related deliverables. 
• Conduct research and integrate findings to strengthen RWA Programmes design and delivery: Provide regular inputs and updates on water-related climate, and climate-related water policies, practices, and trends in RWA’s focus countries and target markets and at a global level using quantitative and qualitative approaches, to inform RWA’s understanding of local markets and project origination & early-stage development efforts. 
• Support the creation and rollout of tools, templates, and business processes for RWA team members to integrate climate policy and climate finance into program operations: Collaboratively design, iterate, and improve RWA’s suite of tools and methods for use throughout RWA’s programming, including but not limited to: Understanding Local Markets (ULM), which includes scoping new markets for RWA operations and maintaining an understanding of the markets where we operate; Deal Origination and Early Stage Development, to integrate climate policy and finance into local decision making about opportunities and challenges; 
• Summarize, synthesize, and effectively communicate climate and water-related ideas for internal (RWA staff & board) and external (specific & general) audiences: Support communications strategy and audience segmentation efforts; contribute to RWA’s external communications and knowledge products, to share and amplify how RWA is thinking and learning through diverse media, e.g., newsletter, blogs, field notes, podcast, social media. 

About you:

• At least 5 years’ experience working in on climate-related issues, with a preference for climate policy in middle-income countries and/or climate-related finance.
• A passion for effective Project Management, process design, and continuous improvement cycles with an organised and structured approach to work, managing deadlines and competing priorities.
• Strong quantitative and qualitative research, analytical, and modelling skills, with an ability to summarize, synthesize, and articulate findings in clear and coherent ways for diverse audiences.
• Intellectually curious and flexible, with a willingness to explore and test diverse ideas, try new things, and approach learning with a sense of humility and humour.
• Familiarity and experience working with GIS / other large-scale datasets to create models and conduct research and analyses preferred.
• Strong written and oral communications skills, with demonstrated ability to work effectively in cross-cultural contexts. Experience facilitating virtual and in-person meetings, workshops, and trainings with diverse audiences preferred.
• Creative and open-minded when working with others in identifying, understanding, and resolving multi-dimensional problems. 
• Masters’ degree in one of the following or related fields: climate science, climate and/or water policy, sustainability-related finance, business administration, public administration, public policy.
• Experience of working in and with geographically dispersed teams.
• Team player with a flexible mindset and ability to establish boundaries and adapt in response to changing priorities and demands.
• Able to work on own initiative, providing proactive advice and recommendations, and comfortable operating with a degree of uncertainty and change.

The Regional Adoptions Facilitator will be instrumental in streamlining our adoption services to maximise the number of horses we can help by 2026! 

More about the role

As Regional Adoption Facilitator, you'll collaborate with centre-based Adoptions Coordinators to swiftly execute the Blue Cross strategy, focusing on efficient horse adoption services, including home direct placements. You'll oversee the post-adoption process in your region, ensuring smooth ownership transfers after successful loan periods to expedite horse rehoming and optimize space for new cases.

Each day you will be conducting thorough home checks and visits—both in-person and virtually—for borrowers to uphold welfare standards and address any issues promptly. Collaborating with the Rehabilitation, Trainer, and Behaviour Advisor (RTBA), you'll manage challenging horse behaviours to support successful home placements. You'll also facilitate home direct rehoming initiatives, making critical decisions to match horses with suitable owners based on your expertise and ensuring ongoing support post-adoption.

To expand our impact, you'll recruit and manage a network of volunteers, including a regional volunteer manager, for home direct assessments and checks. This includes coordinating visits and appointments, fostering partnerships with external charities aligned with our home direct efforts.

Providing excellent client experiences is essential, ensuring every interaction covers all necessary information for successful matching and adopting horses into loving homes.

This is a home-based post with extensive travel. The nature of the post will require the coordinator to demonstrate considerable flexibility in arranging their work schedule and time allocation. This will include some weekend and evening work. Due to the nature of the charity’s work, it may be necessary to exceed these hours when the workload demands. The Regional Adoptions Facilitator will be required to use their own car in carrying out their duties and will be reimbursed for business mileage as appropriate. 

This is a part-time role working 26.25 hours over four days per week on a rota which includes weekends and bank holidays.  This role involves extensive travel covering areas such as Warwickshire, Nottinghamshire and across to Norfolk.

Knowledge, skills, and experience 

• Demonstrable understanding and experience of matching considerations for horses and homes. 
• Full driving licence with access to their own vehicle 
• Minimum BHS Stage 4 or acceptable equivalent qualifications or experience 
• First class knowledge and practical experience in the care and management of a range of horses and their environment, their needs and conditions 
• Proven practical experience of the assessment of horses, riders and their environments 
• Experience of assessing riders and analysing ridden horse behaviour 
• Practical knowledge of horse behaviour and training 
• Excellent communication skills with experience of building relationships and rapport with customers
• Experience of working with the general public with the proven ability to deal with people in a variety of circumstances 
• Significant experience in delivering high level customer service in a fast paced and often emotional environment.
