The Vegan Society aims to make veganism more accessible. We help people to adopt a vegan lifestyle by supporting individuals, policy and decision-makers, caterers, manufacturers, healthcare professionals and the media.
Why do we need you?
Dr Jeanette Rowley is a consultant on veganism and the law and our Vegan Rights Advocate. Jeanette has been a leader in the promotion of the legal rights of vegans for over a decade and is the founder and chair of The Vegan Society’s International Rights Network. She is now looking for a volunteer to help refresh and update published material relating to the legal protection of vegans. This project will include working on our guide for employers and relevant content on our website.
What does the role involve?
The role involves working collaboratively with our Vegan Rights Advocate to review, assess, evaluate and update the information provided on our website and in some of our resources, such as our guide Supporting Veganism in the Workplace.
At the review and assessment stages, you will read specific advocacy resources to familiarise yourself with the subject matter and content. You will conduct independent research into each specific topic, take notes from relevant authoritative online sources, and assist in evaluating our resources and identifying areas requiring updating and development.
You will contribute to research on equality and inclusion, help to communicate best practice, fact-check information, and assist with redrafting and updating copy.
What training and support are available?
This role will come with an induction session and access to a regular point of contact to support you as a volunteer. You will receive an introduction to the project and tasks. Although the work will be carried out remotely, you will not be required to work totally independently and will work on the tasks collaboratively on a mutually agreed basis.
What knowledge, experience and skills are required for this role?
- General knowledge and understanding of UK Equality Diversity and Inclusion principles and practice
- Experience and skills in conducting research
- The ability to work both collaboratively and independently
- Proficient in written English
- Experience of using Word and working on shared documents
- A legal or advocacy-related background would be useful, but is not essential.
What does my availability need to be?
This role is for a fixed period of six months. We ask for volunteers to commit to about four to six hours a week, although this may vary from week to week. The role can be performed outside traditional working hours and in any time zone, although staff support is only available between 9am and 5pm UK time.
Who does this role report to?
Dr Jeanette Rowley will be the main point of contact for the tasks. Kaya Gromocki, our Senior Volunteering and Engagement Officer, will be available for support and for anything related to your volunteering experience.

The Treasurer plays a critical role in ensuring the financial health, stability, and accountability of Rebuilding Lives UK. The Treasurer ensures that financial risks are identified and managed appropriately while making financial information accessible to the board. Trustees are expected to be actively involved in the charity’s work, providing hands-on support where appropriate.
Key Responsibilities

Mandatory Training Requirement

Tender aims to prevent domestic abuse and sexual violence by educating children and young people about the issues through creative projects. Our programmes are safe, enjoyable, and age-appropriate which allow people to engage with sensitive topics and “rehearse” for real-life scenarios. Participants are encouraged to learn through script-work, role-play and creative media such as films and art. Throughout, we enable young people to explore their choices, rights and expectations in relationships and to recognise the early warning signs of abuse.
Our Trustees are vital to us, setting the strategy for the organisation, ensuring its financial stability and offering insights that help us to ask and answer questions. The Board of Trustees lead and control Tender and are responsible for its governance, policy and affairs. Trustees have responsibilities under charity and company law, and also under Tender’s Memorandum and Articles of Association, for directing the affairs of the organisation, ensuring that it is solvent, well run and delivers Tender’s objects. The day-to-day running of the charity is delegated to the CEO and the Senior Leadership Team.
All trustees are expected to:

You may have experience of living with muscular dystrophy, other disabilities or life limiting conditions, but this is not essential.
MAIN BOARD MEETINGS + EXPENSES
Trustee Board meetings take place virtually. They are usually 2hrs. Over and above this time commitment, trustees on average, depending on their role, may give additional time in being directly involved in occasional ad projects – MHF Trustees ‘own’ a ‘bucket’, in other words, an area of responsibility like HR, Fundraising, Safeguarding, Marketing, Finance, Digital, Risk or Campaign Management that allows an individual to bring their skills, experience and talents to the charity. Reasonable expenses will be covered.

Altus Education Partnership, a four-school trust in Rochdale, Greater Manchester, is seeking two trustees with specialisms in HR or audit/risk join the Board. The ideal candidates will have senior leadership experience in their respective fields and be familiar with working in a strategic role. The Trust welcomes applications from all backgrounds but would particularly welcome applications from those from traditionally under-represented backgrounds.
Trust Board meetings are held four times a year on a Wednesday, typically 5pm-7pm. Meetings are held in-person at the Trust’s Headquarters in Rochdale centre, although the option to join remotely can be facilitated in exceptional circumstances. Occasionally meetings will be held at one of the schools to align with Trustee site visits. The Trust board also have the following committees:
- Finance & Resources (four meetings per year)
- Audit & Risk (three meetings per year)
- Education Standards (five meetings per year)
- Staff Pay and Performance Management (three meetings per year)
- Governance and Search (one meeting per year)
It is expected that the Audit/Risk trustee will bring their expertise to the Audit & Risk Committee, while the HR trustee is likely to be asked to join Staff Pay and Performance Management. The new trustee would not be expected to chair the committee, although there is scope for succession planning if a candidate is interested in this opportunity.
A full induction programme with meetings with the CEO, CFO and Chair of the Board along with a full training package will be available online and via local providers for the new Trustees joining the board. Altus Education Partnership is a four-school Trust based in Rochdale (two secondary schools, one primary and Rochdale Sixth Form College). The Trust's mission is to build a family of inclusive academies from early years to 18 in Rochdale and its surrounding areas, with the memorandum between Rochdale Sixth Form College and Hopwood Hall College forming the cornerstone of the Trust’s strategy.
Altus has an 'all-through' strategy, with the vision of having one Level 3 provider (Rochdale Sixth Form College) supported by a number of secondary and primary schools that enable the intelligent sequencing of the curriculum from early years to age 18. Chair of the Trustees

Job Description
Role: Chair
Term of Office: up to 6 years, with renewals every 2 years.
Purpose: To chair the Board of Trustees of the Society of Genealogists, ensuring that the charity runs legally and is provided with firm strategic direction.
Responsibilities (specific to the role of chair):
- To represent the Society and act as its spokesperson at external and internal functions, meetings, conferences, exhibitions.
- To lead the Board of Trustees in setting and monitoring implementation of the Society’s Strategy.
- To monitor the performance of the Chief Executive Officer (“CEO”), including a formal annual review against objectives.
- To oversee, or directly manage, the selection of new trustees from time to time to maintain sufficient trustees with the appropriate mix of skills.
- To plan, in consultation with the CEO, the annual cycle and set agendas for the Board of Trustees meetings, the AGM and any extraordinary meetings.
- To chair and facilitate meetings of the Board of Trustees and associated special meetings/committees.
- To provide support and delegate assignments as necessary to the Vice Chair of the Board of Trustees.
- To provide direction, support and impartial objective advice to the Board, individual Trustees and the Society as a whole covering: policymaking, liaison with honorary officers and with chairs of other committees.
- To liaise with the CEO in order to maintain an overview of the affairs of the Society, and to provide support as appropriate.
- To participate in personnel management grievance and disciplinary matters as defined by the personnel policies of the Society.
- To support and contribute to the development of the Board of Trustees, facilitating succession planning, change and conflict resolution.
Essential Skills/Qualities:
- Knowledge and experience of the voluntary and community sectors; understanding and acceptance of the legal duties, responsibilities, and liabilities of trusteeship.

- Awareness of the commercial realities of a not-for-profit organisation and ability to balance the variety of requests from membership while ensuring financial stability.
- Proven leader with insight, independent judgement, and ability to think creatively in order to drive the development and realisation of the Society’s strategic vision.

Desirable Skills/Qualities
- Understanding of the genealogy sector/market and the Society’s respective position therein.

- Familiarity with and experience of reviewing financial accounts, budgeting, and financial controls.
- Demonstrable ability to develop a strong public profile amongst SOG members and in the genealogy community and to provide a strong contribution to fundraising from donations, grants, and legacy-giving.

Our focus as an organisation supporting refugees are three-fold:
Frontline evacuations, where conflicts are at their their most precarious
Emergency humanitarian aid deliveries in the most hard-to-reach areas in Ukraine, Syria and Turkey, as well as Greece and France.
Self-reliance projects such as an education centre in Jordan, or upskilling adult refugees into work abroad and in the UK via our "Vintage Emporium" charity shops.
You will gain invaluable experience as a senior marketeer, working directly with the Managing Director, spanning traditional and digital channels in disaster relief in an agile organisation that punches well above its weight, committing to saving the lives of people who otherwise wouldn't be saved. We are small - your voice will be heard and your creativity welcomed!
Your focus will be on marketing our AID SHOP, a groundbreaking humanitarian aid delivery system that allows the general public to turn their empathy for new crises (Gaza, Turkey & Syria earthquake etc) into effective immediate action.
When disaster strikes, or the season changes - survival items for escalating conflicts or disasters are changed and added to our website. You will communicate these updates via email campaigns and social media posts, the items are then 'purchased' by our supporters, with the shopping lists collated internally by you, then sent to our partners or volunteers on the ground who can purchase the physical items and deliver the survival items to vulnerable people in the most precarious and volatile regions, sometimes within minutes!
We also save greatly shipping and storage costs, and there is next to zero chance for unforseen delays at customs.
It is the most efficient way we know of giving in a crises - and is very efffective when marketed right (following either our set formulas, or bringing your own to experiment with). The best part? People know exactly where their money is going, so are justifiably much more generous!
So we need a volunteer (you!) to manage our marketing and communication efforts, ideally 2 days per week to:
*Post on social media (1 x reel / story per week, using a template to communicate the most needed survivial item of the week available for purchase in our "aid shop". 1 x Faceboo photo or video post)
*Update website as required
*Write 1 x compelling press release per week
*Update marketing / fundraising collateral
*Assist charity shops with creating leaflets and posters ad-hoc
*Organising our photos & videos by devising a tagging system

TRUSTEE OPPORTUNITY
The charity are looking to appoint three Trustees and have identified the following skill areas of interest;
- HR experience - Ideally leading HR strategy, ensuring legal compliance, delivering L&D strategy, pay & reward frameworks and fostering a positive work culture
- Policy, Influencing & Public Affairs experience - ideally working in policy, influencing and/or public affairs. We would also welcome media partnerships and media campaigns experience
- Fundraising strategy and implementation experience - Ideally at Fundraising Director level or have undertaken this role prior to moving to a broader role. Ideally you will have an understanding of a broad range of income generation with experience of leading supporter engagement strategies and successfully increasing reach

About WORTH
WORTH is a charity providing long term aftercare to women affected by Domestic Abuse. We offer clients 1-1 support and a range of wellbeing groups including art, writing, music and self-defence to help rebuild their confidence and self-esteem.
We provide a safe space for clients to share experiences, give and receive practical and emotional support, learn new skills, reduce isolation, build friendships, and give women their voice back. It is a space where women can focus on their future and we can support our clients in their healing, post abuse.
To be able to provide this support we rely on a great team of volunteers with a wide skill set and a whole lot of passion to enable our services to work effectively.
Our Board of Trustees play a vital role in making sure that WORTH achieves its core purpose. They oversee the overall management, administration and governance of the charity. Trustee Duties:
