TERM AND COMMITMENT
The Chair of the Board is typically appointed for a term of three years, with the possibility of reappointment.
The role requires a modest time commitment, including attending Board meetings, representing SAS at events and in the media, and engaging with stakeholders, joining us on protests and at stunts.

Panellists will inform and influence the support we offer to older people and help us deliver services that older people need and value.
What impact does this role have?
Our Panellists will help us to shape our services and our strategy. They will support us to make sure that people know about our charity, that our services have a positive impact on the lives of older people, and that we are a valued, local resource for older people to rely on.
What are the responsibilities of the role?
• To support our charity and its aims and to act as an ambassador for our services and projects and the wider Age UK network.
• To ensure our charity is aware of emerging needs and issues related to older people in the City and County that could influence future planning.
• To represent the wider community of older people and their interests – including topics such as social, health, wealth, and longer-term needs.
• To develop an understanding of customer service within the charity and how it can be improved for older people.

What is the time commitment?
• The charity holds four meetings per year (Including the AGM), with each meeting lasting around 2 hours.There will be a mix of in-person and online meetings.
• In addition, Panellists need to set aside a minimum of 1 hours reading time before each meeting.
• Depending upon agreed actions, Panellists may be asked to dedicate some time to activities within the community, or for the charity outside of the meetings.
• Should exceptional circumstances arise, there may be a need for additional meetings, but this will be a rare occurrence.
• A chair and vice-chair will be elected by the members every 3 years and holders may serve a maximum of 6 years in total in either role.
What training will you be given?
You will be given a basic induction to the Charity and some basic compliance training to allow you to undertake your role.

The Role
The Treasurer oversees WRS general bookkeeping and accounting, acting as the primary contact for all the charities financial queries. As WRS is a registered charity it is required that the Treasurer also stands as a trustee. The Treasurer will lead on all budget planning, financial reporting, financial record-keeping, and manage payments, with regular communication and feedback with the other Trustees. The Treasurer must have a strong understanding of basic financial principles.
Please note this is a voluntary role and works alongside the charity’s voluntary trustees.
Key Tasks
- Collecting member subscriptions and any other money due to the charity.
- Processing and paying invoices.
- Keeping accurate records of financial transactions using established accounting systems.
- Ensuring all cash and cheques are promptly deposited.
- Ensuring funds are spent appropriately.
- Reporting regularly to the Trustees on the charity’s financial position.
- Preparing a year end statement of accounts to present to the auditors.
- Arranging for the statement of accounts to be audited.
- Presenting year-end financial reports to the AGM and the Charity Commission.
- Financial planning, including an annual budget and monitoring it throughout the year.
- Helping to prepare and submit any statutory documents that are required for grant applications.
The charity’s Trustees meet quarterly, with extra working group meetings being held on a more regular basis.
The amount of time dedicated to fulfilling these duties varies throughout the year.

What’s involved?

We support organisations and services to develop opportunities for people to get involved and share their time and skills, and in exchange, they earn and use Time Credits, embedding reciprocity, asset-based, and co-production approaches. Our Trustee Board
Being a Tempo trustee is a role that is challenging, inspiring, engaging and it matters.
As a Trustee and Director, you will have collective accountability, with your Board colleagues, for overseeing Tempo’s governance and strategic direction. As an effective member of the Board, you will ensure Tempo pursues its vision and purpose, whilst complying with its governing document. You will work in partnership with our Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to support our staff, helping them achieve Tempo’s objectives.

There are 4 Board meetings a year, generally for two hours in the early evening via Teams. Specifically for the role of Treasurer
We’re looking for a passionate individual from any background who will complement the skills and backgrounds of our current Board of Trustees whilst providing additional financial assurance to the Trustees and guidance and support to the Chair and FD especially.
You will have a financial or accounting background and likely hold or have held responsible roles in Finance departments or similar. A recognised accounting qualification is preferred, but candidates who are equivalently qualified through experience will also be considered.
Some key aspects of this role are
- Chairing our Finance Audit and Risk Committee that meets virtually ahead of each board meeting, ensuing that the Committee and Trustee board are kept aware of all key matters
- Acting as a business partner to the Chair and liaising with our FD as a critical friend
- Providing financial insight and advice to the Board
You do not need to have been a trustee before if you do many of these things in your day job or have done them in your past and you have a passion for communities and our Vision, Mission and Purpose

The Secretary provides administrative support to the operations of the ADH and advises the
Trustee and Executive Committee towards upholding UK Charity Commission guidelines. The
role ensures that ADH adheres to requirements of record keeping and data protection of
members. It provides the point of contact for Executive Committee team members and
Trustees to check and maintain UK policy relating to volunteer-led organisations, recruitment,
equality and safeguarding standards.
The role supports the Executive Committee Chair and Trustees in ensuring ADH team members
are treated fairly, with high standards of respect, dignity and inclusion, and in support of
upholding ADH charitable aims.
Key tasks:
● To maintain an accurate and high standard of records relating to ADH operations.
● To organize and minute a minimum of three Executive Committee meetings per year.

● To work with the Treasurer to draft the Annual Report.
