Arts Therapies UK (formerly Birmingham Centre for Arts Therapies) has been able to support the mental health needs of Birmingham and the surrounding areas for over 30 years now. However, we have launched an ambitious 5 year business plan to increase our overall delivery by 600%, and our turnover to exceed the £1 million mark. 

Therefore, we are looking for an experienced Corporate and Communities Fundraiser to take the lead in this new role. This will be a challenging role where you will be creating something brand new and innovative. You will be working alongside a small but dedicated team who are all incredibly ambitious. Although this role is advertised as fixed term, it is our hope that the successful candidate will be able to develop this into a permanent role quickly and effectively.

The Landscape

As we approach our 60th anniversary we have been going through a period of strategic and organisational development, expanding our ambitions to create and demonstrate impact, not just for the Fellows themselves but also at a local community and UK-wide level. This will require a phased transition from the current model and we are in the process of defining and internalising this new approach within the organisation.

Following an in-depth strategic and operational review, the new Finance and Operations Director was appointed in July 2023 and was established as our first step in refreshing the staffing structure. The Role

The People & Culture Manager is responsible for managing all aspects of the human resources function, ensuring that the organisation attracts, develops, and retains high-quality staff. This role  supports the Finance & Operations Director in fostering a positive and inclusive working culture, whilst ensuring compliance with employment legislation and best practices.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy Development

• Support the development of TCF’s approach to effective methods of working and inclusive organisational culture, drawing upon best practice from across the sector and ensuring alignment with organisational values.

• Support the annual planning cycle, working with the Finance & Operations Director to develop and implement the annual and quarterly rhythm of team meetings, workshops and opportunities for team gatherings.

• Support the Finance & Operations Director through developing guidance for line managers to support the annual rhythm of 1:1 meetings and quarterly reviews supporting team members to meeting their operational objectives and personal development goals.

• Support the ongoing development of HR policies and processes, including the newly developed Staff Handbook, recruitment, staff onboarding, probation, annual reviews and professional development, as well as regularly reviewing staff benefits and ensuring they are in line with good practice.

Employee Relations and HR Management

• Maintain elements of the employee database (BambooHR), to support staff with administrative requests relating to annual leave calculations, signing documentation and updating personal information.

• Supporting the recruitment process by creating new roles on BambooHR, arranging the advertising on appropriate websites and working with line managers to initially triage and longlist applications.

• Develop onboarding processes to ensure new team members have the information they need to thrive in the organisation.

• Prepare offers of employment, change of terms letters and other standard employment documentation, with support from external HR Advisors, and the Finance & Operations Director.

• Serve as a point of contact for employee concerns, providing guidance on HR policies and procedures, with support from external HR Advisors, and the Finance & Operations Director.

• Manage the relationship with the appointed EAP (Employee Assistance Programme) including regularly reviewing the support available to ensure it offers the right level of support for team members in line with our values and aspirations as an good employer.

• Develop and build the process for employee objective-setting in BambooHR, and how this then links to the wider organisational strategy, ensuring line managers are equipped to utilize this tool effectively.

• Support the appointed Data Officer (Finance & Operations Director) by managing the organisation’s approach to GDPR and data protection with respect to HR specific processes, overseeing HR systems and records, ensuring data integrity and security.

Learning and Development

• Support the design of a learning and development plan for all teams, identifying potential training options for individuals and teams as needed, working with Directors to identify key learning needs and either develop learning offers to meet those needs or source relevant and high impact external training, for both hard and soft skills.

• Organise and facilitate workshops, seminars, and training sessions to support professional development of all staff.

Team Facilitation & Engagement

• Play a lead role in facilitating and organising team meetings and workshops.

• Proactively developing agendas in advance to ensure staff are kept informed.

• Develop and manage a monthly internal staff update, with contributions from the team.

• Develop and plan team lunches and group activities, with the support of the Operations Co-Ordinator

Line Management

• Overseeing the day-to-day activities of the Operations Co-ordinator, supporting in a line management capacity to encourage and develop organisational skills and personal development goals.

In addition to the responsibilities detailed above, the People & Culture Manager will also undertake any new and additional projects at the discretion of the Finance & Operations Director.

Person Specification

Qualifications

• Degree level or equivalent working experience
• HR Management skills training
• Accredited Coaching skills or equivalent training

Skills and Experience

• Proven experience as an HR Manager or similar role, preferably within the non-profit sector.
• Strong knowledge of employment law and HR best practices, preferable within the non-profit sector.

• Salary c. £42,000 – 46,000 per annum (pro-rata for 3 days per week / 22.5 hours)

We have embraced the benefits of working from home and at the same time, we value the contribution of face-to-face contact in building teamwork, collaborating with your colleagues, exchanging ideas and know-how, and for work efficiency. We therefore operate a hybrid working policy, where staff can work from home if they wish, however everyone is required to work in the office a minimum of 4 to 6 days a month with Tuesdays as the core day for regular whole team meetings.

The Role 

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Training Manager to join an established and well-regarded Gloucestershire disability charity to lead on the delivery of peer led Abuse Awareness, Self-Advocacy and Enablement Training for adults in Gloucestershire with learning disabilities.

Training is delivered through both individual and group training sessions across the county. 

By enabling and empowering Individuals to make decisions and act, the training will support people with a learning disability to develop the skills they need to ensure they are able to safeguard themselves from harm, contribute towards more independent living, and maintain and/or improve their health and wellbeing. 

About You 

You will be a highly motivated and engaging professional, with knowledge and experience in delivering and evaluating the effectiveness of training sessions, as well as guaranteeing the quality of delivery by the wider training team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who has an interest in, knowledge and understanding of the daily challenges faced by adults with a learning disability.

The successful candidate will have a background in training or delivering in an academic environment. Direct experience of working with people with a learning disability is strongly preferred.

To be successful, you will have strong facilitation and communication skills, and the ability to engage with a diverse range of stakeholders. A proven ability to work collaboratively, flexibly, and virtually, is essential. 

Experience delivering programmes related to diversity and inclusion would be beneficial, in addition to a thorough understanding of safeguarding.

What you will be doing: 

• Leading a team to deliver our full range of bespoke training to adults with learning disabilities in Gloucestershire.

• Delivering the Building Circles Training to professionals and peers.

• Providing direction and prioritisation of course content in line with the Service Specification to meet the needs of those referred to the service.

• Working with the trainers and training administrator to recruit and train a team of co-trainers. 

• Ensuring all training is outcome driven and measured against key performance indicators. 

• Ensuring impact is measured and reported on to our Service Contract Managers, CEO and Board of Trustees 

• Closely collaborating with a wide range of stakeholders and service providers to ensure timely intervention and support for referred individuals and groups

Duties include: 

Delivery of training to individuals and groups with a learning disability across Gloucestershire. 

Delivery of training to professionals/social workers/teaching staff across Gloucestershire

Building relationships with providers to sustain training year on year 

Recruit and line manage a team of Experts by Experience, providing them with appropriate CPD and ongoing support.

Keeping up to date with changes in the law which are communicated via our training.

Collecting, collating, and analysing feedback from sessions in line with the Service Specification. 

Ensuring all feedback and impact data is up to date for reports to Service Contract Managers, Trustees, CEO

Management, including regular supervision sessions, for trainers and co-trainers

Responsible for accurate documentation of all disclosures and safeguarding concerns

Assist CEO with bid writing for training projects

What They Do

This organisation is a small charity that provides holistic support to vulnerable women in Newham, particularly in the context of mental health, and by extension – their families. In practice, these are almost all migrant families headed by a lone mother. Around 80-90% of those they work with are homeless, have experienced trauma, and have No Recourse to Public Funds.

Most new clients are seeking help with destitution and navigating hostile/dysfunctional systems of statutory support. As well as advocacy casework, they provide free counselling, parenting and life skills support, a Baby Bank, and skills development to help women support their families. A new cleaning social enterprise aims to diversify income and provide decent, flexible work.

More than the sum of the services it offers, the organisation provides a community where women support each other and know they can get help.

About the Role

The Operations Manager will oversee the operational delivery of the charitable objectives, including line management of senior project delivery staff. This role will support staff to ensure the smooth daily operations of front-line services.

You’ll be working within a diverse team of dedicated women in a compassionate environment. They appreciate the value of flexible working and welcome discussion about this in relation to the role.

As the Operations Manager, you will:

Line manages senior staff within the charity, providing regular one-to-one supervision, supporting staff to meet their objectives, working on all HR-related policies and procedures, and supporting staff to develop their potential.

Ensure the charity fulfils all legal, statutory, and regulatory duties around HR and governance.

Act as Lead Safeguarding Officer for the charity, including ensuring up-to-date DBS processes, organising staff, volunteer and Trustee safeguarding training, updating the Safeguarding Policy, and maintaining accurate records of safeguarding incidents.

Communicate regularly with the Finance Manager to support sound budgeting, management accounting, and other financial processes.

Monitor and report on key indicators of the organisation’s impact on funders and other stakeholders.

Our programmes aim to particularly support talent from Global Ethnic Majority, DDN (d/Deaf, disabled and neurodivergent) and low socio-economic backgrounds (LSEBs).

This role will manage a range of training and mentoring programmes including virtual and inperson activities. Working with a broad selection of industry partners from across the media and creative industries (including major broadcasters, advertising agencies and tech companies), you will support programme participants to gain the confidence, knowledge, skills and networks to progress their careers in the media, and contribute to developing a more representative media industry.

Key Responsibilities

Programme management and delivery

• Manage all aspects of a range of training and mentoring programmes, ensuring they are high-quality and impactful
• Provide regular project updates to our funders and partners
• Manage programme budgets including monitoring expenditure, forecasting and ensuring all third-party expenses are paid and/or reimbursed appropriately
• Support the monitoring, evaluation and reporting of the programmes you manage, ensuring impact is evidenced by high quality data, and produce impact reports for key stakeholders
• Work alongside the marketing team to support the production of marketing and communication materials and provide regular programme updates for the Media Trust website and social media channels, including end of programme case studies
• Maintain up-to-date programme data and reporting by inputting relevant data on a timely basis to our CRM system

Talent/participant engagement

• Lead the recruitment of participants including marketing and outreach, selection and onboarding
• Design, deliver and manage engagement and retention strategies, supporting participants to commit to the programme
• Be the first point of contact for all participants, and provide pastoral support throughout the programme, monitoring participants’ progress through 1:1 check-ins, providing additional support and access adjustments to those who require it
• Assess participants’ accessibility needs, ensuring adjustments are implemented to provide individualised support
• Work with programme participants and industry partners to develop engaging session content tailored to the cohort’s needs
• Facilitate increased understanding of industry mentors and volunteers on how best to support underrepresented talent
• Develop alumni engagement strategies and liaise with industry partners about upcoming job and work experience opportunities we can share with alumni

Industry engagement

• Manage relationships with key programme partners, providing regular updates and sharing feedback on their mentors and/or volunteers
• Source qualified industry trainers, workshop leaders, mentors and volunteers

What we are looking for in you

• A track record of effective project management and delivery
• Experience of working with diverse communities, including adjusting for accessibility needs
• Experience of designing and delivering training, with strong workshop facilitation skills
• Experience of organising and managing events, including online and face to face events, co-ordinating participants and trainers and overseeing logistics

Our client’s SMC service offers accomodation-based support to separated migrant children aged 16-18 years, who arrive in the UK alone. As Service Manager for the SMC service, you will empower a dedicated team of frontline workers to support vulnerable young people in leading independent and fulfilling lives. You will provide flexible and responsive accommodation-based support to the young people across 2 services in Hemel Hempstead, adapting to service user’s individual needs and circumstances. 

You will work with your team to enable service users to access a variety of meaningful activities, including education, employment, training opportunities and volunteering, and will also support the young people to develop independent living skills, including as cooking, cleaning, budgeting and building their confidence so they can move on positively. In addition, you will liaise with various external agencies jointly to ensure that each young person has a smooth, personalised journey to independence.

About the role:

Working with the CEO, the post-holder will ensure the charity functions effectively and has long-term financial viability and sustainability. The post-holder, in conjunction with the Treasurer, will ensure the Board meets its fiscal responsibilities and all regulatory requirements are complied with.

You will advise, report to, and consult with the CEO on all matters relating to the management of RSG's financial resources and on external factors that may affect its financial situation. You will also prepare, maintain and develop financial policies and procedures, including effective systems of financial control ensuring they are updated as necessary in a timely manner.

Key areas of responsibility include:  

• Lead the annual budget-setting process, liaising with the CEO and relevant managers to produce income, cost and year-end projections that are agreed upon by the Senior Management Team and Board of Trustees.
• Track the financial performance of RSG against the budget every month, providing monthly financial reports, forecasts and commentary to the Trustees and individual reports to service managers.
• Prepare quarterly management accounts to agreed reporting deadlines.
• Lead the production of the RSG’s annual accounts to ensure they are accurate and submitted on time.
• To lead, manage and develop finance staff, including providing support, guidance and training; appraise and manage performance, ensuring the finance team workflow is managed effectively.
• Provide management support and coaching for staff on financial matters as required.
• Ensure that recording of income and expenditure, bank reconciliation, payment of invoices and reclamation of Gift Aid are administered accurately and on time.
• Produce quarterly VAT returns.

You will have communication skills sufficient to develop strong professional relationships, support the development of the organisation’s reputation and support the management of change. You will have numerical accuracy with attention to detail and be organised, methodical and precise.
