We are looking to recruit people to one of the following four roles within our youth programme, for a minimum commitment of 10 weeks, and whilst these should guide applications, imagination and flexibility is encouraged when applying. Currently, the youth programme works with young refugees and asylum seekers across two sites, providing them with a sense of community and experiences that they wouldn’t otherwise receive!
There are some specific applicant requirements, however the most important is to have a strong desire to work with refugees and a commitment to improve the situation for them here in Greece. Second Tree works in a transparent way in a challenging and changeable situation on the field; therefore, an ability to learn quickly and be open to feedback is vital.
We are looking to recruit people to one of the following four roles within our youth programme, and whilst these should guide applications, imagination and flexibility is encouraged when applying.
The roles are:
- Children’s ESL teacher: responsible for the delivery of the programme’s English classes across two sites. Classes focus on low level English learning and must be fun and engaging. TEFL/equivalent experience is required.
- Scout/excursion leader: responsible for leading the weekend excursions for both camps, a highlight of the programme for participants! Excursions are based generally on the Scout model and require an organised, methodical planner who is confident leading groups of children.
- Arts and crafts specialist: responsible for using knowledge of art, music and practical skills to plan creative workshops within the existing curriculum. Assist the programme lead and scout leader when organising and partaking in excursions.
- Science/maths specialist: responsible for using knowledge of science and maths to plan creative and engaging workshops within the existing curriculum. Assist the programme lead and scout leader when organising and partaking in excursions.
Skills:

- Oversee the delivery of program activities and the completion of vital administrative and logistical tasks
- Be accountable and efficient, making sure that tasks that you take up are completed in the agreed timeframe

- Experience with teenagers in educational and leisure activities
- Experience working as a Scout leader or in other leadership roles
- Knowledge of pedagogical tools and programs suitable for children/vulnerable people.

In certain periods of the year, demand is extremely high, and the volunteer houses might be full. If you have the means to pay for your own accommodation, please let us know. Who we are:
ACAA works to empower and support refugees and asylum seekers by providing vital services that enable successful integration. These include English classes, mentoring, drop-in advice sessions, a legal surgery, employment and education training, counter-extremism workshops and youth and women's engagement services. Role Summary:
Working as part of a small dynamic ESOL teaching team, you will have the opportunity to shadow teachers and gain practical teaching experience. This is alongside training sessions for CPD (continued professional development), as you progress in the position you will take on more responsibility and develop your role.
Duties will include:
- Preparing and delivering lessons to students of different ages and abilities
- Preparing classroom and coursework materials, homework assignments, and weekly hand-outs

- Setting effective targets to monitor students’ progress
- Supporting and motivating students to allow them to grow and enhance their own skills by both achieving qualifications and becoming ready for work
Personal requirements:
- Previous teaching experience is desirable, but not essential as support is provided
- ESOL qualification (CELTA, TEFL or other) or equivalent experience

Book Volunteer needed! - Hailsham

The role
We are looking for Book volunteers to support our shop team in our Furniture Now! Hailsham store. Books is a section the shop is currently looking to develop, which makes it a very exciting time to join the shop team! You will get to shape the direction the book section is going to go in. Our shop team would love to learn from a book expert and make the most out of this amazing section. So if you're passionate about books, please come and share your knowledge with us!
You will join a wonderful team made of a Shop Manager, Assistant Manager, van driver and van assistants as well as some volunteers. Free hot beverage and biscuits always available on site as well as bi-annual shop team events!
Shift patterns
We are looking for support any day of the week, Monday to Saturday. The shift pattern is either a half day (morning shift: 8.30am – 12pm or afternoon shit: 12pm – 4.30pm) or a full day (8.30am – 4.30pm).

We are looking for a Program Coordinator for our Adult Education Program based in Ioannina, for a minimum commitment of 6 months.
In this role, you’ll be coordinating the implementation of language classes and associated tasks at two refugee camps: Katsikas and Agia Eleni.
The majority of the students are from Syria, Afghanistan, and Iraq. The sites have two to four English classes each day, which are differentiated by English ability from A0 to A2.
Role description
You will…
- Coordinate and manage daily operations of the adult education program
- Develop the program in coordination with the Programs Manager
- Assess impact and effectiveness against program objectives
- Ensure that teachers are equipped with the necessary knowledge to complete their administrative tasks to a high standard and in a timely fashion
- Conduct regular class observations, providing teachers with quality feedback on their teaching
- Provide new teachers with key insights into language teaching in the refugee context
- Ensure inductions to and exits from the education team are smooth and effective, including successful handover of classes between teachers
- Liaise and collaborate with relevant local and national authorities and stakeholders and represent Second Tree in relevant external meetings
- Capture and compile monitoring, evaluation and learning (MEL) reports in line with program deadlines
- Ensure overall management of the program, guaranteeing quality and relevance

Akwaaba are looking for a new trustee with Safeguarding experience to join our board of trustees, and as an organisation who shares our values we hope that you will be able to share this with people/organisations that may be interested.

Volunteer Van driver needed! – Lewes

We are looking for a Volunteer Van driver to support our van team in our Furniture Now! Lewes store. This role will enable us to maximise the opportunity for furniture collection/deliveries for our charity. We are a donation-based furniture store charity, and donations are vital to the running of our operations. Helping us run the van more often would help us fulfil our mission and make a big difference!
There will always be at least one van assistant (sometimes two) with you on the van. They will support you by directing you to the right location and completing admin work. Full induction and training are provided (some of which you can add to your CV!).
By joining us, you will become part of the Furniture Now! Hailsham store team made up of a Shop Manager, Assistant Manager, van driver, and van assistants as well as volunteers. Free hot beverages and biscuits are always available on-site and you will be able to join our team events!

About the Chair Role:
The Chair will be taking on this pivotal role at a crucial time in Migrant Help's growth and development as an organisation. The charity puts people affected by displacement and exploitation at the heart of everything it does, it assists those most in need and least likely to find help elsewhere while aiming to bridge community gaps and bringing services and support together. This requires strong leadership from the top and the Chair will be crucial in maintaining a positive and open culture throughout the organisation.
The post requires a commitment of 12-16 hours per month or 3-4 hours per week. The board meets a minimum of 4 times a year, in hybrid virtual and in person meetings in London or near one of Migrant Help’s regional services. The People and Remuneration Committee also meets a minimum of 2 times a year, usually virtually
Responsibilities include:
- Provide strategic leadership to the Charity and its Board
- Provide oversight of the Charity's governance including long-term strategic plans, budgeting, risk management and legal compliance
- Work in partnership with the Chief Executive and Executive Team, helping them achieve the charitable objectives
- Optimise the relationship between the Board members and the Executive Team, through support, mentorship, challenge and development
- Act as an ambassador for the charity to external bodies, corporate partners and major donors

About the Charity
Furniture Now! is an East Sussex chain of charity furniture stores, part of the Now! charity group Ltd. We aim to end local poverty and fight for the environment. We act at different levels by making furniture accessible to those most in need through our special two tier discount, working in partnership with social funds to furnish refugees’ homes and issue grants to environmentally and socially focused local actions.
We recently started providing free sanitary products in all 3 of our stores in a bid to end Period Poverty. This is an exciting time to join our charity as we are also about to open a Community Shed in our Hailsham store to provide the local community with a third space, where people can meet, hang out and upcycle furniture.

Volunteer Till Operator needed! - Lewes

The role
We are looking for Till operator volunteers to support our shop teams in our Furniture Now! Lewes store. Our till operators are the the face of the charity, they greet our customers, answer the phoen and make bookings. As a Till Operator you willget to form connections with your local community, practice your communication skills and gain invaluable transferrable skills!
You will join a wonderful team made of a Shop Manager, Assistant Manager, van driver and van assistants as well as some volunteers. Free hot beverage and biscuits always available on site as well as bi-annual shop team events!
Shift patterns
We are looking for support any day of the week. The shift pattern is either a half day (morning shift: 8.30am – 12pm or afternoon shit: 12pm – 4.30pm) or a full day (8.30am – 4.30pm).

We are looking for a Social Media Specialist who can strategically identify, and post, engaging content for our social media feeds, which will inspire people to support our work with refugees and asylum seekers in Epirus.
In your role, you will interact with our Instagram and Facebook communities to increase engagement, followers and the quality of their experience. You will also identify key influencers and conversations where we can engage to better showcase our work and expand our reach. You are the person who thinks “this would make a good post” while activities are taking place. More than that, your interest and belief in social media as a force for good should be backed with an interest in data and analytics, using them to influence our social media communication strategy.
Skills Required:
- Strong written and spoken English skills
- Proactive, problem-solving mind-set
- Demonstrable ability to manage a Facebook, Twitter or Instagram feed in a professional capacity
- Ability to demonstrate your success at creating and delivering social media strategies for specific projects
- Ability to show your experience at producing regular reports using Facebook Insights, Twitter Analytics, Google Analytics or similar tools.
- Data-driven and have an evidence-led approach to social media strategy.
- Up-to-date with the latest trends/developments in social media communications.
- Ability to manage and prioritise multiple tasks and respond flexibly.

Your responsibilities:
- Regularly post and schedule content on Second Tree’s social media feeds.
- Work with the wider Second Tree team to ensure that all content on our social media feeds aligns with organisational, and specific project strategies.
- Work with Second Tree team to moderate and respond to comments and interact with followers to best develop our online communities.
- Produce regular reports on social media performance.
- Use Google Analytics (or similar) to produce reports on referrals to the Second Tree website and conversions attributable to social content.
- Advise colleagues and help them to develop content strategies based on previous reports and insights
- Develop social media strategies to expand our reach and impact through social media channels
- Identify key social influencers who we can engage with
- Maintain a strong knowledge of developments, innovations, and new tech in social media and identify any that may be of benefit/interest to Second Tree
What We Offer:
- Accommodation with all the basic amenities (WiFi, laundry, kitchen) covered in a shared team house.

We have two volunteer houses that can host up to nine people where long-term volunteers are accommodated. Some volunteers choose to rent their own accommodation. In certain periods of the year, demand is extremely high, and the volunteer houses might be full. If you have the means to pay for your own accommodation, please let us know. We would still be happy to host you if space is available. However, in a situation where the volunteer houses are full, this would allow us to offer a volunteering opportunity to someone that cannot afford to pay rent.
The successful candidate will be encouraged to join us on the ground and immerse themselves in our work. Your participation could take on many forms, from support in the education programs to activities in the kindergarten to the delivery of workshops and expeditions with the Youth Scouts – we look forward to hearing your ideas on how best to apply your skills in this context. By coming here, you would gain a first-hand experience of the situation on the ground, working in a grassroots organization with a small but dedicated team. This immersion will give you a solid sense of our work, our mission and our approach – which would facilitate your ability to attract supporters.
