About us
Who we are
We are 200 volunteers across governance, fundraising, communications, spatial design, inclusivity research and learning projects, campaigning to buy the 14-acre Thames Water depot on Leabridge Road and turn it into a community-owned, biodiverse park with wild swimming ponds and community spaces. We are bringing the East London community together to learn how to live in harmony with nature.
Our culture and values
East London Waterworks Park prioritises an ecological and community-driven design process. Anyone can participate in co-creating our community-owned park. Our values are radically imaginative, at peace with nature and courageously inclusive.
Equality, diversity and inclusion policy
East London Waterworks Park is committed to inclusivity. We want to ensure that everybody feels welcome in and around the project and that our community-owned park is designed to welcome everybody. We are focused on improving services for local people, by listening to and learning from the wide diversity of voices in our community, especially those who have been historically under-represented, ensuring that this park will be inclusively designed for everybody. We welcome anyone who wants to participate and help define and create an understanding of what inclusivity means for our community by getting involved with activities like desk research, online feedback, in-depth interviews and co-design workshops, with an openness to expanding on listening methods. Our findings are analysed and integrated into the design of the park. With such a wide range of spaces to be designed, including wild swimming ponds, natural habitats, and creative, outdoor, learning and play areas, there is so much that the community can help us to shape.
