Role context
Hi there, we’re a charity called Local Welcome. We support local people in joining together as a team of Leaders in order to run Local Welcome meals in their local area on weekends.
Local Welcome meals are open to all - they’re the sort of places where strangers become friends! Some group members will have been born in your local area, some new, some seeking sanctuary, or refugees.
As a member of the Leader team, you’ll be supporting your group in cooking and eating a delicious meal from scratch. No cooking skills are required - our simple recipe steps have that covered!
The commitment
Location

This is an unpaid role.
Time commitment
4-6 hours per month - this includes 4 hours leading on the day of the meal, and a couple of hours of prep and organising which is split between leaders before and after the meal. Depending on your leader team’s capacity, it’s possible for a very busy leader to arrive on the day and lead with only a small amount of involvement before and after.
Responsibilities
With the support of our small staff team, and the Local Welcome leader handbook, you would be working with your fellow leaders to:
- Organising and facilitating monthly meals in your local area
- Coordinating practical elements of running meals as a team - e.g. deciding what to cook and organising the grocery shop before the meal, ensuring the meal runs smoothly on the day, and sharing feedback with our staff team afterwards
- Completing your own safeguarding training and a disclosure check. This includes committing to keeping everyone in your group safe by reporting any concerns accordingly on an ongoing basis
- Keeping in touch with your fellow leaders and the Local Welcome team between meals - e.g. to share your availability for the next meal
- Creating an inclusive and welcoming environment for your group members and fellow leaders

- Safeguarding training tailored to Local Welcome meals
- Regular check-ins, support and guidance from the Local Welcome team - including an on-call staff member available for any support during meals
- Access to our leader handbook, which contains resources and materials for setting up, running and growing your group

Membership is for everyone who takes part in Local Welcome meals, whatever role you play on the day!

We ask our members to donate what they can afford to help us cover the costs of running monthly meals. Donations also help us keep free spaces available for group members who can’t afford to pay, and helps us become more financially resilient as an organisation.

Local Welcome supports community leaders to grow diverse membership groups that cook, eat, and take action, together.
The Board Chair is responsible for providing leadership to the Board of Directors and ensuring the effective governance of the Northamptonshire County Football Association (‘the Association’). The Chair holds the Board accountable for the Association’s strategic performance, providing inclusive leadership and ensuring compliance with governance best practices.
The Chair also serves as an ambassador for the Association, fostering strong relationships with stakeholders, including The FA, local football communities, and external partners. The CEO reports to the Board through the Chair, who is responsible for overseeing the CEO’s performance and professional development.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide strategic leadership to the Board, ensuring clarity of purpose and direction.
- Ensure the Board maintains a clear division between governance responsibilities and operational management.
- Lead the Board in setting, reviewing, and approving the Association’s strategic plan, financial plan, and annual budget.
- Set the agenda for Board meetings in collaboration with the CEO.
- Chair Board meetings effectively, ensuring all Directors contribute meaningfully to discussions.
- Evaluate the performance of the Board and its individual Directors, supporting their development.
- Appoint Chairs for Board committees in consultation with members.
- Manage the CEO’s performance, conducting regular reviews and providing professional support.
- Act as a mentor and coach to the CEO, facilitating leadership growth and operational excellence.
- Address any concerns raised by the CEO and ensure a healthy working relationship between the Board and executive leadership.
- Act as the primary representative of the Association at FA meetings, local football events, and external engagements.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with The FA, sponsors, grassroots football clubs, and other key stakeholders.
- Lead the Board in setting and maintaining EDI objectives aligned with The FA’s governance framework.
- Ensure diverse and inclusive representation within Board decisionmaking and strategy development.
- Foster a culture where equality, diversity, and inclusion are embedded in the Association’s policies and practices.
PERSONAL SPECIFICATION
Essential Experience:
- Leadership experience at Board level, preferably within sports governance or non-profit sectors.
- Demonstrated success in strategic planning, risk management, and financial oversight.
- Strong understanding of corporate governance, compliance, and regulatory responsibilities.
- Experience in chairing meetings, ensuring balanced and productive discussions.
Essential Skills & Knowledge:
- Strong strategic leadership and decision-making skills.
- Ability to challenge, debate, and guide discussions constructively.
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
- Knowledge of the Companies Act (2006) and corporate governance best practices.
- Understanding of safeguarding requirements and FA governance frameworks.

Trustee
Role description
St Albans & District Foodbank is looking for a Trustee. We currently have seven active Trustees and are looking for enthusiastic and talented people to join our Board.
The Foodbank serves the local community providing emergency food for those facing crisis. In the last 12 months we provided over 14,000 food parcels. We distribute food via ten weekly distribution centres that are run around the district by our committed volunteers. We currently have 7 part-time staff and over 130 active volunteers. We are more than a Foodbank as we offer wellbeing, signposting and advocacy services, both directly and in conjunction with other agencies.
Trustee meetings are held 6 times per year, typically on the third Tuesday of alternate months between 4.00 and 6.30pm. Trustees are expected to undertake additional work for the charity between meetings, subject to their availability and skill set, for example representing the Charity at local events or with partnership organisations.
The Trustee role is voluntary and unremunerated, though reasonable expenses can be reimbursed.

The challenge of being a Trustee requires, amongst other things:

Trustees have collective responsibility for the governance of the organisation and for all decisions made by the Board. They set the strategic direction for the organisation, ensuring alignment with the Foodbank’s values and are responsible for setting organisational policy, defining goals, agreeing the financial plan, evaluating performance and ensuring that strong relationships are maintained between the Trustees and the Management and Volunteer Team.

We are looking for someone who wants to help their local community and work towards the eradication of food poverty whilst supporting the Foodbank to provide emergency food to those who find themselves in crisis.

To volunteer as a key member of the Just‘B’ services team providing professional, emotional wellbeing and psychological support through face-to-face, virtual and telephone assessment calls to clients. You will volunteer as part of a team conducting comprensive assessments identifying client support needs of adults.

Our fundraising team leaders have the exciting and varied role of inspiring our fundraising volunteers to plan and deliver local fundraising events. Using their passion and imagination, they oversee a small team of fundraising volunteers who come together to raise the vital funds needed to cover costs such as veterinary bills and food. Our fundraising team leaders support their team of volunteers in all aspects of their roles, making sure our volunteers are happy, confident and supported.

Time expectation
Our fundraising team leaders usually spend three to four hours per week in this role, which is flexible and can be shared by more than one volunteer if needed.
Support, guidance and keeping you safe
At Cats Protection we believe our volunteers should be happy and confident in their roles. We provide support and guidance from our National Cat Centre and through our regional and local volunteer groups and teams. We offer engaging online and face-to-face training, expenses and have policies and processes to help volunteers get the most out of their time with us.
The wellbeing of our people is important and at Cats Protection we are committed to safeguarding children, adults at risk and all those that we come into contact with as part of our activities.

What we do
We are a well established and respected creative charity who believes that anyone can enjoy good mental health and wellbeing by engaging in creative activities.
We provide regular art and craft sessions for children and adults with a wide variety of needs.
We extend our reach by providing sessions for partners, including local schools, Southend in Sight, Sanctuary Housing and South Essex Homes.
We engage with the wider community by providing art and craft activities at local events, by offering volunteering and employment opportunities, and holding exhibitions.
Who we need
We need people with experience of finance, HR, fundraising, event management, digital engagement, PR, partnerships, and/or delivering creative services.
We need creative thinkers who can work collaboratively to provide the leadership that The Art Ministry needs to achieve its strategic objective of helping even more members of the local community improve their mental health and wellbeing by engaging in creative activities.
You will need to commit to at least 4 hours a month, including at least 4 trustee meetings a year.

Role Overview:
As a Trainer / Learning and Development Volunteer, you will play a pivotal role in empowering our team of volunteers through robust, tailored training. You’ll help equip our volunteers with the necessary skills and knowledge to make a difference in key areas such as Befriending, Health and Safety, Safeguarding and others. We are also looking at training others to become trainers themselves, you will amplify our capacity to support those in need.
Key Responsibilities:

You will be part of the NEWMIND Saturday drop-in, providing essential wellbeing services to the local community.
Main tasks
You will be working alongside other volunteers and paid staff respectively to cater to the communities needs, provide a sense of wellbeing, serve light snacks and refreshments as well as assisting with opening/closing the venue and appropriate cleaning.

How you will be supported?
You will be fully supported by the Volunteer Coordinator at NEWMIND providing shadowing, training, safeguarding and will be available to answer any questions and concerns.
At the Mental Health Foundation, we are seeking an experienced Treasurer to join our Board of Trustees. This is a voluntary position which will bring you a rewarding experience and an opportunity to help the Foundation deliver its mission. The role is part-time, with attendance required at various meetings throughout the year.
Deadline: 5pm on Sunday 27th April
Location: Glasgow/London/Belfast/Cardiff
Time commitment: 2-3 hours every 6-8 weeks, plus an away day each year, for a 3-year term

About us
At 2497 (Cosford) Squadron, we’re proud to be part of the Royal Air Force Air Cadets, a national youth organisation that empowers young people aged 12 to 20 to develop leadership skills, resilience, and confidence through exciting opportunities like flying, adventure training, sports, and community service.
We meet twice a week and we’re always looking for volunteers who are willing to try their hand at anything. You could find yourself teaching skills, running activities, or providing encouragement and moral support. If you have specialist skills, we can use them. If you want to learn new skills like rock climbing or gliding, we can train you.
