We are an East Sussex based charity and member of Women’s Aid, dedicated to supporting women who have experienced domestic abuse, sexual violence, or other forms of gender-based harm. We provide trauma-informed services, advocacy, and practical support to help women rebuild their lives in safety and dignity. Our charity upholds the principle that survivors deserve access to single-sex spaces, in line with the Equality Act 2010.
The role
Seeking Female Trustees for Lotus, an East Sussex Abuse Charity
Role: Trustee (Voluntary)
Location: East Sussex (Meetings are held in person in Newhaven, with remote access available, and fully remote meetings as needed.)
Time Commitment: Approx. 4–6 board meetings per year, plus occasional involvement in projects or events. Meetings are currently held on weekday mornings to help accommodate women with childcare responsibilities, ensuring greater inclusivity.

People Culture Inclusion and Safeguarding Committee (PCISC):
The PCISC is primarily focused on People and Safeguarding policies, practices and culture relating to AIUK workforce and governance. However, it also has an important role to play in contributing to People policies, practices and culture of the wider AIUK movement. PCISC does not have responsibility for operational People Team matters at AIUK, nor does it replace formal channels and procedures for dealing with individual ER issues
The PCISC is a joint sub-committee of the boards of both the Amnesty International United Kingdom Section (‘Section’) and the Amnesty International UK Section Charitable Trust (‘Trust’).
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Advises on, and monitors the implementation of, AIUK’s People approach, reporting to the respective Boards as appropriate;
- Advises on and monitors the implementation of AIUK’s Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Anti-Racism (IDEA) plan, as it relates to AIUK workforce in particular;
- Advises on, reviews and monitors AIUK equality, diversity, and inclusion metrics and the use made of such measures in improving policies, practices and culture on inclusion, diversity, equity and anti-racism within the workforce and the wider movement;
- Provides input to help ensure AIUK People policies, processes, and practices are relevant, up to date, and conform to all relevant standards and good practice; reviews and approves any significant or fundamental changes to People Policies
Time commitment:
- Appointed members of the PCISC shall be appointed for a period of three years and be eligible for a further three-year period thereafter.
- Meetings will normally be held four times a year. Additional meetings may be organised by mutual agreement or at the direct request of the PCISC Chair

The Board
The Board can have up to nine members and may include a Chair, Vice Chair and Treasurer. The role of the Board is to make sure Shernhall Preschool acts within the law and within the best interests of residents (we currently have 5 members).
We’re keen to recruit people with experience of any of the following:
• Professional experience of working in education/teaching
• Professional expertise within Human Resources
• Financial management experience.
The Board must act as a group, not as individuals and takes decisions collectively.
· Ensure that Shernhall Preschool complies with its governing document (its Articles of Association), charity law, company law and any other relevant legislation or regulations,
· Keep up-to-date with the Charity Commission’s Regulatory Framework,
· Contribute actively to the Board by giving firm strategic direction to Shernhall Preschool, setting overall policy, defining goals, setting targets, and evaluating performance against agreed targets
· Ensure the financial stability of Shernhall Preschool,
· Ensure the organisation’s accounts are a true and fair representation of the organisation’s finances,
· Ensure Shernhall Preschool applies its resources exclusively in pursuance of its objects. For example, it must not spend money on activities which are not included in the objects, however worthwhile they may be,
· Make decisions for the benefit of the organisation, exercising independent judgement and declaring any interests, exercising reasonable skill, care and diligence in carrying out activities,
· Safeguard the good name and values of Shernhall Preschool,
· Adhere to Shernhall Preschool’s Code of Conduct.
In addition to the above statutory duties, each trustee should use any specific skills, knowledge or experience they have to help the Board reach sound decisions. This may involve leading discussions, identifying key issues, providing advice and guidance on new initiatives, and evaluating or offering advice on other areas in which the trustee has particular expertise.

Working as a member of the Family Services team, across all areas of the service, you’ll be offering information, guidance and support to families and loved ones of those in prison. Based in the prisons visitor's centre meeting and greeting visitors, you will provide practical and emotional support to families ensuring they are treated with dignity and respect and their voices are heard. As well as supporting in the visitor's centre, you will also be required to support Pact's play and children’s services, including our family days, and potentially with our refreshment service in the prison visits hall.
What you will be doing
- Offer a friendly and welcoming environment within the Family & Visitors’ Centre, where people visiting the prison can spend time before and after their visit
- Assist with booking/checking in of visitors in line with Pact and the prison’s procedures
- Encourage families to access support or signposting them for their needs by interacting with visitors, offering information and advice as appropriate on a confidential basis and ensuring first time visitors are provided with enhanced support and reassurance
- Help maintain an area in the visitors’ centre for children, which may include displays of children’s artwork, relevant posters and information, as well as toys and other materials to engage children before and after a visit
- Liaise with prison staff, including visits and security staff, to ensure close co-operation in the smooth and efficient reception of visitors at the prison
- Promote opportunities for children to engage with their loved one who is in prison in an appropriate way during a visit and family days
- Ensure the play equipment is safe, clean, and able to fulfil its requirements, storing and restocking as required
- Provide an excellent, friendly, and welcoming refreshment service to prisoners and their families in the visitors centre and/or visits hall
- Support the planning and delivery of an agreed number of family/teen days per year and to help Pact deliver high quality facilitated play/activities appropriate for the age ranges attending the family days
- Support the Family Services team with other ad-hoc tasks
- Adhere to policies and practices relevant to this role: Confidentiality; Health & Safety; Child Protection and Safeguarding; Equality and Diversity; and Prison security rules etc

At Doorstep Library, we’re dedicated to bringing the magic of books and the joy of reading directly into the homes of children who need our support.
With 1 in 4 children in the UK leaving primary school unable to read or write properly, we recruit and train in-person and online volunteers to introduce children from under-resourced areas to the pleasure of reading.
What’s Involved?
As a Doorstep Library reading volunteer, you’ll visit the same families at their homes every week with a backpack full of books to share with the children and encourage their love of reading.
You will:
- Handpick books based on the children’s age, interests, and reading level
- Visit their homes with your volunteer partner for 20-minute reading sessions
- Leave behind a selection of books for the children to borrow for the week
Our unique home-based approach allows our volunteers to build trusting relationships with families, helping them to connect with the community and equip them with the skills they need to succeed later in life.
When and Where?
We have volunteer opportunities in: Hammersmith, Parsons Green, Fulham Broadway, Shepherds Bush, East Acton, Latimer Road, Euston, Kings Cross, Marylebone, Edgware Road, Queens Park, Pimlico, Brixton, Tulse Hill, and World's End.

About the role
The UK Based Jamborees Team Lead plays a vital role in promoting and supporting international participation in UK-led Jamborees. This role will oversee the endorsement process for non-UK national adults attending UK-led jamborees, promote UK-based Jamborees to the global Scouting community, and ensure best practice in safety, safeguarding, and global programme integration.
This role is key in ensuring that international participants and UK organisers are well-prepared, supported, and aligned with UK Scouting standards for safety and safeguarding.
Key tasks
- Oversee the endorsement process for non-UK national adults attending UK-led Scouting events, ensuring all applications meet UK safeguarding and safety requirements.
- Promote UK-based Jamborees globally, encouraging international participation and engagement.
- Support event organisers with best practices in safe from harm, and global programme integration.
- Distribute promotional materials to raise awareness of UK Jamborees within international Scouting networks.
- Work with the UK International Team to align event promotion with other global Scouting initiatives.
- Support efforts to increase awareness of UK-based Scouting events within global Scouting communities, including representation at international events and online promotion.
- Actively contribute to the Large Events Forum.

Pain Concern are seeking an enthusiastic individual with lived experience of a chronic condition to join our Trustee Board. The importance of lived experience on our board ensures our charity has credibility with the general public, government and with funders.
Trustees are both charity trustees and company directors who report to Pain Concerns members.
The Trustee Board has collective accountability and responsibility for the charity and must ensure compliance with regulatory, contractual and statutory requirements.

Please note that for safeguarding purposes, the successful applicant will be required to undertake a PVG check. The cost of which will be covered by Pain Concern.

The Secretary provides administrative support to the operations of the ADH and advises the
Trustee and Executive Committee towards upholding UK Charity Commission guidelines. The
role ensures that ADH adheres to requirements of record keeping and data protection of
members. It provides the point of contact for Executive Committee team members and
Trustees to check and maintain UK policy relating to volunteer-led organisations, recruitment,
equality and safeguarding standards.
The role supports the Executive Committee Chair and Trustees in ensuring ADH team members
are treated fairly, with high standards of respect, dignity and inclusion, and in support of
upholding ADH charitable aims.
Key tasks:
● To maintain an accurate and high standard of records relating to ADH operations.
● To organize and minute a minimum of three Executive Committee meetings per year.
● To advise ADH Trustees on Charity Commission guidelines.
● To maintain and update ADH Charity Commission information.
● To work with the Treasurer to draft the Annual Report.
● To organize the AGM and communicate with members in relation to the AGM, reporting,
voting matters and policy changes.
● To support the Mentoring Coordinator in maintaining records and procedure and
covering for that role when required.
● To act as safeguarding point of contact for Sub-Committee teams and Executive
Committee members.
● To work alongside the Treasurer and Executive Committee Chair to ensure essential
ADH administration is undertaken in a timely manner.
● To offer an open and friendly point of contact across ADH Executive Committee and
Sub-Committee teams to support and facilitate operations.

As a charity we are able to help thousands of cats each year thanks to the generous donations we receive from members of the public. Our fundraising team leaders have the exciting and varied role of inspiring our fundraising volunteers to plan and deliver local fundraising events. Using their passion and imagination, they oversee a small team of fundraising volunteers who come together to raise the vital funds needed to cover costs such as veterinary bills and food. Our fundraising team leaders support their team of volunteers in all aspects of their roles, making sure our volunteers are happy, confident and supported.

Time expectation
